LaPtiteBete: Thanks for the +1 !! ** Big Hug **
Hum ? I haven't see in detail yet... It seems like most of the games involved were available during the last Fall sales... I think I'll pass... What about you ?
** Big Hug in return **
It is an impressive sale...
I already have a few. I love the Anomaly series (I wish it had come to GOG sooner - I bought them all elsewhere.)
Nothing from my wishlist is on sale, but I'll likely look through each game's page and end up buying something anyway...

I'm not too sure what the Wiki says about Squats, as I did not read the page fully. I was going on memory for when my brothers used to be big fans and used to play the table top game all the time. It's possible that over the years GW changed it more and more to make them separate from the Imperium, but why would the Imperium use machines forged by those not integrated into the Imperium? It would be the same as them accepting Xeno or Heretic machinery. Also, don't forget that the Squats ancestors were human.

There are several worlds that are given some freedom (or the illusion of freedom, the Imperium could crush them in a heart beat), so even if the Squats were more independent, as long as they proved useful to the Imperium, and they could be controlled, then I think the Imperium would tolerate them. At least until Mars can craft those mammoth war machines, like the Leviathan. The Squats were officially part of the Imperium, they gave allegiance to the God-Emperor, but they were not directly controlled by the Administratum.

But they should have definitely had a good send off, especially after the money and time fans invested in the Squats. I know players would have still been angry, but giving them a nice valiant ending in the lore would have done a lot to ease their removal. An epic battle, not just a foot note that is later ignored. But as you said, GW are well known for making silly changes to the game.

What do you think of the weekend sale?
There are some good Titles to get if folks don't already have them...

I would recommend the AI War game and expansions, it isn't overly complicated,
and there is more than meets the eye in content and depth of gameplay.

I picked up both Disciples and Flatout games, with Apotheon today. :)

edit ---> just popped in to give our resident little Owl a couple +1s...

moonshineshadow: I think j0ekerr posted some pictures of a yuri manga meaning that these are really all women ;-)
i see. It's hard to tell with Japanese animation sometimes. It's often underage girls with big breasts in skimpy outfits, or guys with long hair who are more girly than the girl characters are.

Yep. But if you manage to sort that stuff out you can find some good things too :D

I agree, but I have noticed that it's getting harder and harder to find the good things among the creepy and perverted shows. Even some of the "kids" shows have some very worrying design choices. But I guess that's just how things are in Japan.

How has your day at work been? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

It was ok, nothing special a bit boring. But that is ok, better than a really stressful day :D
For the weekend I think I'll just stay at home and play some games / read. Somehow the week was tiring, even if I don't really know why :D
So what are your plans? Can you take Sunday off again?

I have the whole weekend off, but sadly I can't just relax. I am going to see my partners family, which is bound to be a difficult time. My partners mother hates me. The rest of the family are nice, but my partners mother has never been too keen on me because I'm just a "common" farm girl. She is quite wealth and likes to think she is better because of it. But it's only for the weekend, so at least that's something.

My mother is finally coming home from hospital on Monday which I'm so exited about. She will need a few months recovery at home, and she needs walking sticks at the moment, but at least we will have her home. My father is really exited about having her home, he missed her so much. The big softy is planning a very romantic Valentines Day surprise for her, which I'm sure she will love.

*extra big hug* ok seems like your partners mother is not really a nice person. How can she dislike you for such a reason. That makes me angry.
But awesome news about your mother. I am really happy for you and your family that she can be home with you again :-) And your father is really cute, I am sure it will be an awesome surprise.

Having my mum home will definitely help me get through the weekend without hitting my partners mum for being so nasty to me. And at least I get two days rest from work. But I would rather work all weekend than visit, but oh well. I hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend.

I remember a particular show, some 15 years ago, named 'Azuki' after it's titular character.

The show was obviously aimed at kids, from it's colourful pallete to the simplistic design of the characters and overall plot. I'd stimate it's target demographic was around 10 years old, maybe a bit younger.

Azuki herself, a girl of 8 or 9, came accross as a boy-crazed, insecure, scheming and paranoid girl. Infatuated to the point of obsession with a particular boy in class and constantly suspecting that he was about to be stolen away by the trendy popular girl.

Yes, high school drama in primary school.

And this was supposed to be a kids' show, aimed mostly at girls. And teaching them proper japanese values for women, like, "obsess over boys and dedicate yourself to them because being the wife of your childhood sweetheart is pretty much the most you can ever aspire to if you don't have a penis."

Yes, japs are crazy.
Evening all!

Finally caught up, you've all been busy!

I missed the Warhammer talk... damn :(

How is everyone today?

FoxySage: I loved studying maps and learning the countries flags a kid. I know, i was/am quite geeky. >.>'

I don't have that many psychology books really. Just a few which i bought due to an interest in mental illnesses and insanity throughout history. I had a roleplaying character with schizophrenia and wanted to do some more research to understand it better. One thing leads to another - kind of like reading the wikipedia; and then i was reading Nietzsche :P.
avatar
ddickinson: Nothing wrong with being geeky :-). Do you read all your books? Or do you sometimes buy them and never get around to reading them?
Didn't say there was anything wrong with being geeky. ;-)

I've read most of the books. Although i haven't read the most recently acquired yet since in the last few years i've not found time for it or been in a mood where i wanted to read. I've also found the lack of reading has made me a lot slower when i do read, which i find a bit annoying.

FearfulSymmetry: I think I own about 30-40 books I haven't read yet ... *whistles*
I think i have about 10-15 books i haven't read.

LaPtiteBete: All right !!! Here we go...
Er... Who knows how to build a tree house, by the way ?...
I can't hardly drive in a nail... :-|
But I can help and carry the boards...
avatar
moonshineshadow: Yep tree house sounds good! I have some basic idea how to do that if someone else also has some experience we will do fine :D
Most important thing: High enough that dd can not reach us :P
I'm just going to remind you guys to build protection against arrows too. Those english longbows have quite the reach. ;)

avatar
EndreWhiteMane: Have to have shutters on the windows, she's an archer!
Nevermind, i can see Endre already thought of that. :)

I'd recommend having this playing in the background while clicking the above link by DD. Makes it a lot better.

l0rdtr3k: We're building a treehouse? Let me get the chainsaws.Carefull, they are a little dangerous.
Yes, let's get the party started

LynetteC: I took a passing glance at Pillars of Eternity, but that's all it was - there's going to have to be some SUPER SERIOUS DISCOUNT before I even THINK about adding it to my collection!

What about you? Have you added to your collection or have anything lined up on your wishlist?
I kickstarted it so i'm getting it on release day. :)

To be more specific i'll get it when the mail arrives since i backed it for the physical cds + soundtrack.

Evening there.

The warhammer talk never stops, like the majestic light of the emprah, it will endure forever, or until games workshop says so.

I'm ok, sitting on a new chair. Does anyone want the old one?

And DD and Moonshine seem to be in a pretty good mood both of them spreading hugs around.

Nobody asks me for hugs, I wonder why.

The whole wealthy/not wealthy thing goes on over here too. Personally I've always felt a bit sorry for the wealthy folks as they seem to have such a high suicide rate here. Guess with no real work or hardships it's much harder to deal with life's 'bumps' when they do come.
Glad you at least get some time off from the cold and hard work though.
"My partners mother hates me. The rest of the family are nice, but my partners mother"
You know, you're poor partner deserves to have a gender like everyone else. We won't be shocked or crucify you if it's not what you think we expect. :-)
