Good Morning ya'll!
Was watching Expanse episode 1 last night.... seemed really packed with stuff, both dialogue and sci-fi effects... Fell asleep quite easily... probably something to watch again when fully awake and with a cup of black coffee... really intense stuff (or so it seemed)...

CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

Yeah, it's a pretty limited game, propped up on the premise of switching between characters but not doing it all that well.
Evening!

Well that TOTALLY makes me want to play it more...haha.

I wonder why there hasn't been a 3D open world action-y D&D game in the vein of Skyrim/Risen/etc? Or maybe there has been and I've missed it.

Howdy! Never heard of that show but I've just recently watched TV for the first time in a long while. I did see an episode of Gotham a night or two ago and didn't really like it.

I knew it would. ;)

In the vein of Skyrim and Risen? Not that I can think of. Closest they got was Daggerdale, which is pretty largely reviled.
Good morning, fellows of Fred the thread!

How are you all on this lovely day?

I am actually feeling better than I thought I would, still not too good at all, but not as bad as previous times, which hopefully is a good sign. I hope you are all doing well? And don't forget to open the next section of your advent calendar. :-)

And since we are close to Christmas, I thought I would ask a festive question. And that question is: what is one of your favourite Christmas movies? I was going to ask for all time favourite, but I don't think I have one that I like more than others, so I stuck to one of your favourites.

For me, one Christmas movie I have always liked is Scrooge starting Alastair Sim, which I think was made around 1951 (apparently it was released as A Christmas Carol in the US). I like old black and white movies, and I also love Dickens' A Christmas Carol, which is what the movie is based on and does a very nice job on the adaptation, especially when compared to the horrible Disney incarnation with Jim Carrey *shudders*. I think they have since remastered Scrooge to add colour, possibly using the same method they used to put It's a Wonderful Life starring Donna Reed and James Stewart into colour.

And just a random fact. Did you know that in the Victorian era it was a custom to tell ghost stories at Christmas time, which is why some of Dickens' stories contain ghosts.
*very slow, cautious, quiet wave to thread*

*whispering* Good morning...
:-)

edit : ninja'd, of course :-p

A Christmas Story (1983). Perfectly captures what Christmas and the holidays are like is like as a kid. Though I didn't grow up in the era that it takes place in (unspecified time in the '30s/'40s) I think the movie applies to kids of any decade pretty well :-)

Good morning, Mr Agent!

How are you feeling today?

I do not think I have ever seen A Christmas Story, although I have heard a few Americans say they really like it. Maybe I have just missed it when it was on TV, or maybe it was never brought over here.

It will be interesting to see what our continental users like, maybe something German, French, Finnish, etc that we have never heard off before?

Good morning, Kinny. I'm feeling... well... interesting, but I suppose it's a good interesting :-) (must be the new medication.)
Glad to hear you aren't as bad as you expected. Hopefully you'll end the day feeling awesome as pluck!

They have Christmas in Europe? ô__ô ... I'm interested to hear what everyone says too :-)
(And I'm interested to see if we get a new release today!)

*big happy hug*
Good morning thread :)
**Big hugs with coffee**

I am glad to hear you are doing good. Hopefully the new medication will help.

Thank you. Hopefully I will at least stay the same and not get worse, but the fact it is still the same is a good sign I think.

We do have Christmas, and before those darn Yanks ruined it all it was very nice and not really commercialised at all. But you know how it is with those Americans and spoiling things ;-). But many people still keep the proper attitude to Christmas, which is nice. It is also nice seeing all the different cultures in Europe and the different traditions they have at Christmas, especially as much of it comes from Anglo-Saxon/Scandinavian/Germanic pagan traditions and folklore.

Do you think we will get more Christmas themed releases?

*big return hug*

It's nice to see you are doing good, despite all your work. I don't mind you mentioning all your work all year, so feel free to mention it all you like.

I have had better days with my health, but I am doing a lot better than I thought I would be given yesterday, which is good.

*big festive hug with lots of Christmas cakes*

Yes, I'm being silly... but I didn't really think about Christmas movies in other countries. I guess I just assumed we all have the same ones, which would be quite silly :-p
When I was in 6th grade, each kid in the class had to do a report on Christmas in another country. In addition to basic facts, we had to play some Christmas music, bring some food, and tell a Christmas story from that country. My report was on the Czech Republic :) (unfortunately, I don't remember too much of what I learned... it was 15 years ago :-p)

Well, we already got Hatoful Christmas, or whatever :-) ... I can't really think of any Christmas-themed video games. Are there any? ô__ô

Glad to hear Thursday is so kind... Did Thursday bring you flowers and coffee? And massage your shoulders? :-)
No plans for the moment, no... Just try to relax and continue feeling pleasant, until further notice. Oh, and I'll eat breakfast in a little while.
*trying to think of Christmas/winter/snow themed games* ... Maybe we'll get... NOLF! It has some lovely snow levels! :-)

That sounds like a very interesting topic to do. I think some of the basics are there for most countries that celebrate Christmas, but many add their own customs and traditions to it all.

I am not sure if there are any Christmas themed games. Maybe more Christmas themed DLC?

Edit: I seem to remember a really old game for the Commodore 64 called Frosty The Snowman which was quite fun, but I can't really remember too much about it.

Edit 2: I found this list of Christmas themed games:
