Yep. I often buy bundles of books on storybundle.com to read while I am travelling and because they are real cheap and I am already spending most of my money on books. Since at home I am reading real books. Because I still love them and prefer them over the ebooks.

You don't need a kindle to read the samples, just a Kindle app on Android or Apple, or read it through a web browser, but you will need an Amazon account, obviously. They usually give you the first chapter or so. It's not a perfect way to judge a book, but it's better than just judging a book by it's cover (sorry, I couldn't resist). :-)

Yeah, at least you can get a feel for the writing and the characters if you get a chapter, I will definitely do it next time I'm looking at books. I buy most of my books from Amazon anyway.

Thanks for the recommendation-I'm going to download the Still version (seems to be more stable) and I'm also thinking of downloading the portable version too, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to use footnotes, references and all this stuff university papers have-and also I don't know if the interface is going to be easy to get used to, while there's also the thing if it really is more lightweight (as you mentioned). I'll see...

P.S. In the meanwhile hope someone else knows how I can completely deactivate the keyboard shortcuts on Word 2007...

It's pretty much identical to pre-Ribbon office, so you shouldn't find it hard to adapt to. There aren't many things word can do that it can't.

I haven't got a proper version of word so I can't test it, all I've got is the free starter version.

Thanks for trying to search a solution for me, but this particular one probably won't work with Word 2007. It says in the first few lines that some Administrative Templates for Office 2013 need to be downloaded first and I don't feel like downloading stuff that won't (probably) work and, secondly, with the way this guide is written, even if I had Office 2013 and downloaded the templates, I'd have no clue what to do next-this guide isn't very intuitive, which makes me wonder who writes these guides really... Anyways, thanks for your help-I'll install LibreOffice in a while and see how it is, and in case it doens't suit me (for any reason) I'll just try to be careful while typing in English and changing languages via shift-alt.

Yeah, Microsoft's help and guides are next to useless usually. Their almost always a load of technical jargon.
Like I said, unfortunately I can't test it because I have no proper Word.

Yesterday all avatars vanished. we became an army of grey man. Then they returned but not the actual versions. It seems like avatars were resetted to the ones used during autumn last year. And also the avatars got smaller and a lot of them got rescaled and looked blurry so we had to upload them again.

Yes! Thanks a lot! In Word 2007 this option wasn't in Tools (there isn't even a Tools Tab) but deep down in settings. I'm now merrily deactivating everything I could possibly accidentaly activate. Thanks again and +1 for you!

I've just received a newsletter which informs me that GOG has changed its policies...

Really? I did not get it yet. I hate their newsletter system. But yeah, the sticky about the policies change has been here for ages so it was clear it would happen sometime.
