CarrionCrow: Honestly not sure yet. Loaded it up for a run soon, but haven't gotten to it.
Looks interesting, got it through a DRM-free Humble thing months ago.
Also, if you've got the same wallpaper, kudos to you for your choice in sweet Shadowrun images. -laughs-
Was going to mention this at some point - Noticed what you were looking at earlier while running through sale pages. Suggestion (if you have the coin, feel so inclined and won't get buried in duplicates, of course) - go for the 70 dollar franchise pack. It's what I'd run with if I didn't have bits and pieces of the whole thing.
DOW 1 is definitely worth it, even with the rehash fiesta that is Soulstorm.
Additional - shut up, brain. You saw what our desktop looks like. I have neither the time, the inclination, nor the sanity to do a full runthrough of Dark Crusade AGAIN.
j0ekerr: Would love to, but the main problem is coin, duplicates, not so much, I only own the original DoW and DoW:DC.
Also, I'm not so keen on the multitude of DLC, most of which are skins.
That might sound strange coming from a WH40K fan, but I never got into the wargame itself, too expensive. But I fell in love with the over-the-top ridiculously grimdark (they coined the term), cranked up, not to 11, but to 23 setting.
Nowadays I think it has imploded under the weight of its own popularity and a-holes like
your spiritual liege breaking the codexes to benefit their favourite chapters. Well Rogue Trader was and will always be freaking awesome.
You know the surface of Chronus is ripe for another black crusade. Let Chaos swarm the planet and claim it for the ruinous powers.
Yeah, not exactly a fan of completely superfluous DLC myself.
Also didn't get into the tabletop version. Never had several hundred dollars to spend on boxed sets, miniatures, paints, all that crap. Got as far as Mordheim and Blood Bowl since they were comparatively very much self-contained.
Would say it's going downhill because who has the money to keep doing rule upgrades when you've got so much money tied up in it? Assuming you can somehow afford to do that in the first place?
These days, I figure I'll pick up the rest of DOW 1 at some point, then maybe grab Warhammer Quest when it's been out for a bit and the price drops, maybe Space Hulk when they've got a good digital version of it going.
I've swarmed Koronus so many times with Chaos it's not even funny. Obliterator/Possessed/Predator combo with a Bloodthirster chaser means everyone dies. ;)
Have run through that game with every faction, beginning to end. That's why I look forward to/dread getting Soulstorm. I'll be compelled to do a full run for that as well, all nine groups.

Got Forsaken Gods because I'm a series completionist. -laughs-
Ironically enough, though, still need to get Gothic 1. But even that is just another in the long line of items I need to complete all the open series I have right now. Kinda maddening in a purely irrational compulsion kinda way.
