moonshineshadow: Yep. And also they are only merging the accounts not the forums. Seems like they want to have the account management in one place.
I'm not too bothered about it all, especially as it does not effect me. But I do wonder what it is in aide of. Is GOG going to be absorbed by the parent company? Are they just saving money by having everything under the same roof? Or is it something to do with Galaxy?

I would bet on Galaxy related. It's not like our account here are brimming with awesome features and 100% bug free...
Either that or they just want anyone interested in the Witcher games to sign up to GoG and be tempted by their deals and hence make more money. Or both of the above.

Probably because of galaxy stuff and money saving could also be a reason I guess. And I do not think gog is getting absorbed or else they would not have gog accounts made priority in regards of usernames etc.
But I think they should seriously test this stuff more before launching things that could break more stuff in our already buggy forum :D

That makes sense. Again, I'm not bothered or worried, just curious. As long as GOG and our awesome community are okay, then that's all that matters.
Watched Tim Cain with an overview about how Fallout began and what it meant over the years.
I like the man.

I'm sure it's yesterday's news for many, but those who don't know it, you can find it here:

Fallout Classic Revisited

It's definitely worth watching.
I think my avatar is back to normal.
No it isn't.

ddickinson: I thought the French liked horse meat? I know a while ago during a big horse meat scandal that France was complaining that Britain was making a fuss about been sold horse meat instead of beef. It was less about the horse meat as such, more about companies lying about what meat is in peoples food. But generally we don't eat horse over here, or snails and frogs. :-)
Yes, I guess some people here eat horse meat, but I don't... :-/

What exactly is this Galaxy stuff everyone is talking about ?...

How can you not know about GOG Galaxy the client that will come sometime in the future (whenever that is)

It's an "optional" client, similar to the one Steam has. Other than that I don't know. I don't use Steam and the Galaxy client doesn't interest me.

Yeah... I remember that post... but I don't understand what it concretely implies :-/
Will we have to have (booooh >__<) an internet connection to play, for example ?...
(sorry, I think I forgot my brain at work... :-/)

The quotations are probably just me being skeptical. It's supposed to be completely optional, but I think it will eventually start to have a lot of things that are Galaxy only, or require Galaxy. Such as the downloader, which will eventually be discontinued and you will have to use Galaxy instead, unless you want to download the games through the browser. So while it is optional, it is taking features away from people and would require them to use Galaxy if they wish to keep using those features (like the handy download manager). I think they are putting too much time and money in to Galaxy for it to just be an optional thing, which is why I think it will slowly become necessary in order to use the site efficiently.
Is it me?
Yep, but a lot smaller than it used to be. :-(
And the method for changing it is a bit different too.

It is, just a very low quality version of you. :-)
