I bet there will be a big sale starting next Friday. Why? Because this year gog almost always managed to start their big sales when I was not here for some time ;-)

Stilton: Well, I hope this time the sale happens while you're at home. Are you going anywhere nice?
While it would be nice if the sale waited, I seriously hope it does not. Because otherwise we get dangerously close to having this stupid situation again as last year with two big sale directly after each other. And that was not much fun.

Along with the pleasure and excitement of a GOG sale I also always get a feeling of dread because I know there are going to be problems with the site and my sleep patterns. Having a fairly large collection means there are fewer games to add, which makes sale time easier, but there is still the fear of seeing that bear and wondering if a purchase is going to go through or not.

Problem is, if there's a sale in November, GOG isn't going to sit on their hands and let competition get all the heavy revenue for December. It'll be another double like last year, so they can get every bit of coin possible.

Well, we did get a Conversational Free-For-All Thread out of the whole thing, so it wasn't all bad ;-)

Yes of course, but if they start the sale this coming week there will be at least a bit of time between this one and the Christmas one ;-) Later would be even worse. Or there will be no sale at all until Christmas.

If I remember correctly, there was 3 week or so gap between the two last time? Even that felt like very little break at all between one ending and the next one starting. Hopefully they're considering things like you are, so they can get money without burning out the customers.

I don't think they'll put up their hands til the end of December. The general trend is to push the buying season back further and further. If they do that, a lot of people won't have substantial amounts of spending money left by then.

(Yay societal pressure.)
HI ALL i'm the new guy on the block and even after 50+ years of gaming I still am not much of a computer person. I had a very good friend who died in 2014 and he was an expert on anything computer. I have to fend for myself now. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this but I thought that it would get more reads here
I love the old games and I have just bought the M&M collection and had some problems with installing them. I use a LG 65" HDMI 4K 3D TV for my monitor and I have figured out a way to install and run the games but there might be a better way. I got the
Dos Box mini window for all the games and for games 6-9 the 'DIRECT DRAW FAILED" error message. If I change the resolution on the desktop to 1280 x 1020 they will run. Without getting real technical is there a way I can improve resolution and color within the game folders rather than in windows itself? Is it possible to write a new patch file or exe file to improve resolution and color
without affecting the windows settings on the computer? I hope someone can make sense of what I am asking and if so thanks in advance and if not well I hope I don't look like to much of a computer idiot.

Welcome to the thread :-)
I can't help you, but I just wanted to say that if no one here can help you, open a thread in the general forum (and mark it as question) since there most people will see it and somebody should hopefully be able to help you.
I'm done for this evening, people.

Sleep well when the time comes :-)

If I'm reading this right you're asking if you can improve the resolution and color depth of the game itself.
The short answer is no, the long answer is absolutely no. The games were designed to run with a limited colour pallete and at a given resolution and that's what they have, Increasing both of them would mean remaking all of the artwork from scratch... which is exactly what the HD remastered version of HoMM 3 has done (although poorly).
The novel is up to two words so far ("Chapter One")... Time for a break and a celebratory chocolate bar ;-p
Well.. I believe I just made a jogging date which isn't a date just 2 ugly people moving their feet.

Could be a good thing.. Still, fucking scary in my ass in the chair mentality.
You can do push-ups but jogging, it's totally different and oh my how will I puke.
*hugs everyone* :)
