CarrionCrow: Sorry you had to deal with that, and have to keep dealing with it.
I had a relative who tried that. It didn't work on me. They thought church school was the answer. I had four relatives go that route, and how did they end up? Drug addiction, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, criminal records, near death experiences from alcohol overdose. -laughs-
As for the wedding thing, you're not missing much. When you're a spectator, it's boring. When you're directly involved in it, you just wish all the buildup and stress and ritual would be over with already. Either way, you can have more fun doing something else.

There were quite a lot of unintended pregnancies among my friends. The only sex education that most of us ever had was "don't do it until you are married"... so when they inevitably did it, they didn't know how to do it safely, and... well... poor new parents :-\
No doubt I'd be bored out of my mind at a wedding. Still, I'd have loved to be there for some of the biggest events of my siblings' lives. Tant pis...

Stilton: Well, what do you know...
A small costumed child just came to my door asking for chocolate and goodies. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice ale, sthfsthfsthfsthfsthfsth
You've got to get into the swing of things, haven't you...
If you get free food delivery to your house, might as well take advantage. A small costumed child just came to my door asking for chocolate and goodies. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice ale, sthfsthfsthfsthfsthfsth

From there, it's all working out how to clean the organs out of the abdominal cavity, filling it with candy, painting the face up so it looks more pinata and less fresh corpse, then hanging it in the front yard. >=)

Nothing like preparing people properly. If only the school had taught about anal, it'd never have ended that way... There were quite a lot of unintended pregnancies among my friends. Don't beat yourself up too much. If the most important day of their lives was the need to make a public display out of their relationship, they peaked early, silly and pointlessly. You were still better off missing it.
-laughs- No, I haven't. People don't trick or treat this far out. ;)

Thanks super, Stilton, and Crow for the advice! I think so long as I remember all my game saves, I'll be fine. I've got an external with all my pics/comics/ebooks/vids and such backed up (and ought to have a second backup, in fact) but was convinced I'd forget something other than game saves that wouldn't be in an obvious directory. I think games I've modded to hell will be the only real headache, but then again, I'll have fun getting it all back up and working again, and if it means I have something to do when I'm sleepless late nights anyway, all the better. ;)
I'm mostly excited about getting a new system, but still a bit stressed about this one deciding to kick the can so suddenly... yeesh.
Play session with the pup, then some lunch.

Both good points :-)

CarrionCrow: You know what I wonder? How many people got into exhibitionism thanks to that whole song and dance...
"Don't have sex, the lord is watching! Wait until marriage!"
"Ya know...someone watching sounds kinda hot...let's do it!"
Oh man, I really hope people do that... "Don't have sex, the lord is watching! Wait until marriage!"
"Ya know...someone watching sounds kinda hot...let's do it!"
That whole "God/Lord/Jesus/etc. is watching" line was pretty effective on me. I think most of my friends were able to forget or ignore that, but that was always in my head. I kinda figured it was worse for people with OCD. (Of course, there is no way to know how everyone else felt though.)

Stilton: Religion's a curious thing for me. I've never been compelled to take it up, yet I can see why a lot of people get comfort and a kind of understanding from it. As long as its passive and accepting of others' beliefs then it isn't a problem.
AgentBirdnest: I didn't really have a choice. My parents, and theirs, and theirs were all Mormons. I stopped believing in anything remotely religious at all about 6-7 years ago, and I'm much happier this way. I'm fine with anyone believing whatever they want, if they are accepting of others... but I find that is not often the case here. Every friend I've ever had is a Mormon, which makes me a bit of an outcast at times. They say they are accepting, but at the same time they try to convert (or re-convert) me. I know there are quite a few topics that I can't talk about with them, because while they say they don't judge people, I think they really do.
Damn, I haven't even been to a single friend's (or even sibling's) wedding, because I can't enter the temple if I'm not a practicing and worthy Mormon :-\ Now that I think of it... I've never been to a wedding in my entire life ô__ô
Well... I'm rambling :-p
Never been to a wedding? I'd say you're missing a lot, but I'm quite honestly not fond of them. Too stressful, and usually too formal. ;)

4:15 in the afternoon here....and the light....is beginning to fade.....
Is that distant laughter I hear?
Or screaming.....
