ElTerprise: Good evening. But it already is - the Krynn trilogy consists of
- Champions of Krynn
- Death Knights of Krynn
- The Dark Queen of Krynn
which according to the Goldbox Wikipedia article are the Dragonlance Goldbox games....
Or did i misunderstand you?
No, I misread, I thought it was only one of the three games. Better then, more bang for your buck. - Champions of Krynn

In other news, the latest bundle of tentacles offends me with the inclusion of a LARP rulebook instead of a core one and the absence of japanese schoolgirls.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. It'd be nice to actually get ahold of the core book and some good supplements. Not even sure how many companies are doing Cthulhu-based material, but it's starting to feel like about 50, given how many random supplements there are. That's a good start. Add on Shadowrun, the Streets of Rage series, Mutant League Hockey, Night Trap and Snatcher after you've got your Sega CD. There's a good amount of fun stuff for that system. Pity that Sega ran themselves into the ground.

Would have been nice if they could have included the classic chaosium rulebook, sixth edition would have been fine. Hell even Cthulhu Punk or Tech would have been welcome. Well, tech maybe not so much.
----
So I'm looking at Chaosium's page, and am very surprised to see that they offer the books in e-book format as well, mobi and epub. And I'm thinking how the hell does that even work? Epubs by their very nature are notoriously inconsistent on how they present their content between devices.
Then it hits me images.
If I'm right, that merits an epic facepalm.

Cthulhutech doesn't bother me. It's not real Call of Cthulhu, but it's amusing as a genre mash-up. Well, tech maybe not so much.

Will take your word for it. I only use .pdf files, no experience with the other ones.

CarrionCrow: GOG's been very good about including the manuals for all the games. No need to dig around online for them.
Likewise. It's the companies who don't add anything for years on end that get annoying.
Problem is, EA might not care about Command and Conquer (or at least, they can't make one without screwing it up), but they still want total control of it, despite it having already been pirated to hell and back by any and everyone who didn't want to pay for it. And so it sits on Origin rather than being here.
Have it sitting on my desktop but haven't gotten into it yet. Seems that the match-3 has sucked out the urge to play games for a bit.
Yes. Indeed. Definitely better than some other platforms... Likewise. It's the companies who don't add anything for years on end that get annoying.

Yup. I appreciate that Ubisoft decided to release Games on GOG again. Now EA and Activision should do the same - which they probably won't...
Yes that might be a problem indeed and i got the ultimate Edition there to have all of the classics. It's pity what they've done to the series...
Uh..sorry to hear that..hopefully that'll go away soon :)
I see.

That would be good. No way of knowing what GOG's trying to get done. People didn't expect Ubisoft to wake up and start giving a shit again, but they did. Yup. I appreciate that Ubisoft decided to release Games on GOG again. Now EA and Activision should do the same - which they probably won't...

ElTerprise: I see. Yes, it's a mess. I played through 3 and the expansion, thought they were all right, but 4 sealed the deal. At that point, I knew they had no idea what the hell they were doing anymore.
It always does. Play a game that ends up being obnoxious, it usually takes a bit before starting more things.
Nice. Always better to have good music when you're engaged in high-speed chain whipping.

Well Generals was quite nice but not a real C&C. Tiberium Wars was enjoyable but broke the continuity by ignoring the Tiberian Sun tech. Refused to play 4. But i played Red Alert 3 which was okay and i liked the Co-op but they jumped the shark (don't know if you can say that about games) on that one....and they clearly didn't know what to do with the Red Alert universe....

You'd think that one would be released, if nothing else. It'd be a very easy way to make a lot of money. Well Generals was quite nice but not a real C&C. Agreed, Generals is its own thing. That's fine, wouldn't have minded seeing that become its own spinoff series.
3 felt like a different game being called Command and Conquer. The expansion was all right, but not fantastic. 4 felt like the designers and storywriters were huffing paint during the production. Never got into Red Alert 3 due to having to rely on an AI partner.
And yes, jumping the shark still applies. They were good once, but rather than a single moment, it was the game itself that qualified as the shark jump.

Any thoughts on Ultima 9: Ascension? It looks like a open world action rpg, which is right up my alley. I understand it's terrible in regards to established lore/universe but...well, I can deal with that. But as an action RPG is it any good, what can it be compared to? That kind of stuff is what I'm wondering.
My only Ultima experience is with Ultima 7, and I didn't play but a few minutes of it (it's unbelievably cheesy intro/premise put me off of it) so I won't exactly be screaming at the screen for Ultima 9 breaking lore.
