Stilton: Talking of what the hell am I doing, I'm about to fill a basket of FireFlower games, I think. They've got some nice looking games there, and all DRM free. The sale ends on the 26th so it'll give me a few days to get everything I want from them this time around. Some of them are silly cheap, which is always a bonus.
Sounds like you want to buy some fun stuff, while not being somehow frustrated. As for that "why the hell am I buying stuff?" feeling, that's normal when you've got the multi-year backlog. It'll pass. ;)

Funny you should say that as I was just wondering when I'm going to get around to playing certain titles. I'm going through a puzzle game phase at the moment (finished Q.U.B.E this morning, by the way - if you haven't been through it, I'd recommend it) and seeing things like Perimeter and some of the Paradox titles makes me think, shit, I may have backed myself into a corner here - this stuff is going to take a looong time to get through. But on the other hand, I like a lot of stuff there to give me some choice, and having several games in each genre may well be something of a comfort.

That's a major perk of having a library with hundreds of titles. You get that choice, don't have to feel like you're locked into one thing or another. As long as you have fun, even if they take a while to clear, it's worth it.
I think some of that FireFlower stuff would fit in well because it's a little different, along the lines of Zork or Akalabeth. Sometimes I like to look at something retro and clever rather than gobsmackingly beautiful. And small scale can be just as rewarding as sprawling plus a cast of thousands.

Thanks, Leo. It got stuck for Agent earlier, too. It seems to strike arbitrarily and without warning. Hopefully GOG will fix it eventually.

How was the Brazil game show? Game shows being what they are it must've been pretty crazy.
It was my first time on an event like that and I only attended one day because of previously scheduled commitments.
However it surprised me in good way. Although packed with people it was easy to navigate the different booths.
Almost all the lines to test the different games were quite big so I skipped most them.

The indie stands were more free so I got a chance to play a little bit of and [url=http://tinylittlebastards.com/]Tiny Little Bastards. I also got a chance, by accident, to test a playable build of the upcoming Mirror's Edge Catalyst. And it is as beautiful as the first one.

I've never been to one of those shows, but its nice to be able to get up close to things which are right up to date or still in development. It must make you realize how big the industry is and how quickly its growing. It really is relentless.

If there's good production value to it, I'm sure some things could work here. A game doesn't have to be a 100+ hour epic to be worthwhile. So long as it clearly has caring people behind it and the price is appropriate, it has value.

Big indeed. There was something to cater to every type of player and it was interesting to see bits of the game industry that I don't pay too much atention normally.

Like the MOBA games scene. It is definitely not my thing but there was a championship of DOTA or League of Legends, I don't really know which one :-), and I could see how passionate people are about this.

Time for me to go. See you later, guys!

Think I'll get 10000000 as well. I've got too many 'pending' games to buy that my head is beginning to expand in alarming ways...

See you, Leo :-) Have a good day/evening/sleep/breakfast - I think that covers all bases...

At least you'll have plenty of new stuff to play. (Assuming your head doesn't actually explode. That would make gaming a bit tricky.)

Tricky and sticky. Head guts on a keyboard can't help my already bovine dexterity.

I'm currently wondering whether to go for Solar War as part of my FlowerPower package. Any thoughts?

It looks interesting. Graphics are simple, but it looks like a lot of depth under the surface.

Would say that if you've got coin burning a hole in your pocket and you're willing to try, go for it.

Also, I noticed that Fireflower is carrying Letter Quest. You might find that one appealing.

Just bunged Letter Quest (looks good) in the basket. As for Solar War, I've answered my own question by test driving the demo. Really nice. Simple but sophisticated, would be a handy way to describe it. And NO sound. That makes it appeal even more (minimalism is good).

Yes, I noticed that one from people on my Steam playing it. Checked it out, that'll be one I grab soon.

No sound can work since a lot of games have music repetitive enough that it gets replaced by something on Youtube anyway. Also, I'm a sucker for turn-based. Deep rooted nostalgia for it since Battletech.

Currently downloading! Its nice to buy games :-)

I love a bit of nostalgia, and the more clever the better. Even DX11 big and in your face can get to be samey.

Additional: does my ONLINE tab frequently switch to OFFLINE? Yours tends to blip on and off like you're having internet problems. In view of your recent fun and games I'm wondering if you have. Or maybe its another GOGBUG (surely not...).
