Stilton: Either Letter Quest or Words For Evil might get my other half into PC games (finally!). She's a Scrabble fan and likes doing online crosswords (PC games!), so she might get a buzz out of a word game with some story attached. If she doesn't I'll put her down as a lost cause and look for an upgrade :-)

CarrionCrow: It is a very tedious pain in the ass requirement. At least with food you get some sensation to it. Needing to sleep is like being built with woefully inefficient batteries.

Stilton: Sleep is one of those things that emphasizes the basic poor design of the human body. Its up there with biting your cheek when you eat and constipation.
Other possible items of interest would be Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures if you can find them DRM-free.
They're both word games along those same lines.

-laughs- Oh, the many wonderful ways our own shells can screw with us.

Found those at PopCap, but with 'mild' DRM. As long as the shit is removed completely when the game is uninstalled and doesn't screw with things when it isn't, they might be OK. Its a bit off putting, though.
Hello folks!, yadda yadda yadda

Dumb question: do the weekend promos start on Thursday or Friday? I've managed to forget somehow...

Friday around midday here :-)

That sucks. Do they provide any in-depth info about the DRM setup? (Kinda doubting it, but figured I'd ask anyway.)

3:01 am Pacific standard time every Friday, unless something big is in progress. Then it's between 6 and 6:30, depending on how smoothly the sale start transition goes.

Awesome. I really needed to add a new game to my backlog! Somehow this makes sense...

The only thing I've seen was an interview with the company founders, Mr Cap and Mr Pop, presumably, who said something like it was 'mild and unintrusive.' Its wrong that they don't make it clear on their site - I don't think there's anything about it, which must be against the law - surely they have to state it. Its that 'keep quiet and we won't lose any sales' approach. Classy. Poop Crap might be a better name for them.

What's the betting that a big sale starts this weekend?

Looks like the customer gets 5 installs. It says that the DRM files are left behind on uninstall, but don't harm anything and keep the customer from burning another allowed install if they're kept on the computer.

That's even worse DRM than you'd get with Steam. Sheesh.

Getting the feeling that the next semi-big thing will be Halloween on the 30th. From there, not sure if they'll repeat the format of two sales like last year, or one really big one in December. Would call Insomnia the long shot, maybe showing up in November, but not getting my hopes up.
Good Morning! :)
Crow and Stilton have decided that sleep is unnecessary, it seems :p
No I envy you a bit... it's been a while since I played and surfed the net till morning.
Maybe tomorrow :)

Good morning. =)

The company's good, so I decided to parlay that into staying up until I've either knocked a huge chunk out of Puzzle Quest or beaten it all together. I don't like that game very much right now.

How are you doing today?

Ah, sounds like one of those "just gotta do this and don't ask me why" - things... I doubt it's rare among gamers :)
I'm fine thanks. Had a good session with W2 last night. Turns out you can name your pets. This is a big thing for me ;)
Just about 9 hours more and I'll be home from work.. but tomorrow's an easy day so that's alright.

Hi, Super :-) A good (tired) morning. My brain has stopped working, I think (but I can't think, my brain has stopped working, I think...)

Yeah, it's nothing new here. Just glad that I won't be doing it repeatedly. Neither of the games provide enough difference between classes to justify clearing them again.

That sounds like fun. I want a dog covered in armor that I can call Meat Shield.

Only 9 more hours...sounds like fun.

Hi, ToxicTom! :)
Maybe a pint of coffee could cure that?
*offers a pint of black nasty bitter coffee*

Alright. I can understand reruns with games, although I rarely have the patience for that.
But if there's very little by way of rewards and variety, yeah why the hell :)

Toxic who? Toxic Stilton? You mean mouldy Stilton? Me, a Viking lord reduced to the status of a piece of mouldy cheese! Pah!!

For a moment there I really thought I was Toxic Tom, I'm that tired!

Woo, its getting light now. Soon the girls will be awake and full of energy, and I'll wonder why I stayed up all night listening to descriptions of hairy bum cracks and 'man-thongs.'

Just another ordinary night in GOG land...
