akhliber: I hope it wasn't Barium you had to drink... such... delicious stuff... ;)
I never understood how they expect someone with severe nausea to drink that stuff :-p

Did you make sure he was not riding it at the time? O_o

ElTerprise: Well It's the abbreviation on both the Royal Air Force and the Red Army Faction (and that's usually all) ;)
Don't know - guess the people in our Ministry of Defence are highly incompetent because we have trouble with the HK G36 rifle, the Airbus A400M and the Eurofighter .... oh and let's not forget the Starfighter which fell out of the sky quite often in the 70s.....
I see. I was expecting something worse. :-)
And I was only joking about the Eurofighter, although it is true about us originally wanting it to be called the Spitfire 2 due to us doing most of the work. I guess as it was a European fighter then the Eurofighter is okay, although you lot seem to love putting Euro in front of everything.

ddickinson: Hello! Sorry I missed you, I actually find it quite hard keeping up so I tend to miss people.

Thank you, I hopefully will get some decent rest tonight. It was indeed, lovely stuff isn't it. I had some other stuff as well, and some had to be injected, which was all fun. I was kind of expecting to be glowing in the dark after it all, but no luck. :-)

I have enough blood to sit on my butt and chat on here, so it's okay. They did not take too much really, but a lot considering it was just tests and not blood donation.

I hope you have a lovely day with the little pup, and that you and your lovely wife have a great weekend!

*big hug*
Hello! And no worries at all, I miss most of the thread on lots of days myself. It's a lot to keep up with, especially when you're a bit lacking for energy. I do hope you get some good rest this evening!
The last time I had a test with Barrium, it followed the next day by one where I got to eat radioactive eggs, and *still* no glowing-in-the-dark. It's quite disappointing, really. ;)

Enough blood to sit on your butt and chat is enough blood by my books.

Sarge and I are off to a lovely start of a day, and we have a nice, relaxing weekend planned (well, aside from a birthday party for a one-year-old friend of the family. I'm not even sure why she's such a good friend of the family to be honest, as she doesn't even talk or do anything impressive yet.) ;)

ddickinson: Of course not, the Americans only shot the non-Americans. :-)
(There is an old saying from WW1 and WW2 that goes: When the British shoot, the Germans duck. When the Germans shoot the British duck. When the Americans shoot we all duck.)

I enjoyed the US campaigns as well, they were handled nicely. I am not against that kind of thing, but as a non-American it can be dull sometimes always playing Americans in games that are often a little arrogant. COD blanched it all quite nicely, at least for me.

I am guessing the pizza thing is an American porn thing (of course it is, it is food ;-))?
We have a nasty of habit of shooting ourselves too :-\
*ducks*

That's definitely understandable. Playing the same of anything gets old after a while, and especially if that thing is over-heroic Americans. A few games switch things up though, and make Americans look less-than-perfect (off the top of my head - Spec Ops: The Line, which was not very popular at first but people loved it. Maybe other developers will follow this example.) It seems pretty rare though.

Well, I've never seen bacon porn... So I still have some hope for America ;-)
(I hope this doesn't exist. I am not going to check >__o)

*peeks the thread*

Is it safe to enter? Should I put my flame retardant underwear?
I hear there are lots of arsonists roaming around this place.

So no luck with you either in the quest to glow in the dark. I guess we can always just paint ourselves with florescent paint, it might be the only way. :-)

Your weekend sounds very nice, a relaxing weekend with a lovely partner can be great.

superstande: Took a quick look at Year Walk; the plot seems unique. Yeah, seems very Swedish ;) Too bad if it wasn't so good.

Finland has quite a bit of old folk lore too. There's all kinds of mystical creatures, like gnomes that live in saunas :)
Kind of remind me of Irish folk lore, in my opinion. Those leprechauns and what not.
The sauna gnome was to be given food or what ever or they'd get mad ;)

ddickinson: It was good, and I did enjoy it, but some of the puzzles were annoying (there is a music one that is quite annoying if you don't know your music). It was not too hard, and we had fun playing it, but a few things let it down. I loved the art style, and the nice hidden ending (which is easy to miss), but I found the ending itself quite strange, as though it was done just to be shocking. Probably not, but that is how it seemed to me. I got the game from Humble some time ago as part of a bundle. If you use Steam I could see if I still have the Steam code if you wanted to give the game a try? (But I can't promise I still have it, I might have gifted it already, but then I might not. So if you use Steam and would like to try it then you are welcome to it.)

I know Finland has a lot of folk lore, I am a big fan of old lore and stories. We probably share some due to England/UK sharing some history with Scandinavia/Germanic regions. Some of the little known folk lore tales are just wonderful. I have quite a collection of books on old folk lore.
Well sure, thanks... if you still have the code... I can give it a try. I like all kinds of weird stories... hope it's not too grim.
Oh, you have a collection, that's nice ;)
I've been mostly reading old Tibetan stories, haven't gotten into anything from where I'm from in years...
But I quite enjoy the magic and wild people in the old tibetan stories... Some of the stuff is not easy to find either, I think. But then neither is anything very old folk stuff, I guess. Gotta do some proper researching first :)

Don't worry...it's raining quite heavily here - no way i'm riding a bike right now :)

O.o.....
I know but i wasn't aware of that naming proposal. Wouldn't have mind that actually although the name Eurofighter isn't bad because something like European Fighter would've sound a bit odd....
And i wasn't kidding about the incompetence .... :)

Stilton: Hi all! How is everyone?
Good morning, Mr Stilty!

Having an overall pleasant day so far talking about games, fire, and porn. :-)

How are things on your end?

akhliber: I hope it wasn't Barium you had to drink... such... delicious stuff... ;)
avatar
AgentBirdnest: I never understood how they expect someone with severe nausea to drink that stuff :-p
It can be pretty tricky, especially as you have to drink it a cup at a time, allowing 15 minutes between downing each cup. The better times, it's just meant feeling really nauseated until the test is done, then running to the restroom to "get the devil out." The more frustrating times have been those where I'm unable to keep the stuff down, which means starting over with the first cup and timer each time it comes back up, until eventually I hold it all down long enough. Fortunately, there has only been one time where I've been sick more than once during said procedure... but I've seen others at the hospital having a much worse time with it.
Most times I've been lucky enough to hold it down for almost precisely long enough to finish the scans and get to the bathroom before things get ugly. :)

Also, it's frustrating to be handed a cup of the stuff, to say something nerdy like, "ooh, it's what we do to chemists when they die!" and to have the nurse look at me like I'm crazy... "why would we give a dead person something to drink?" Gah!

I seem to remember us talking about that before, and some of the US friendly fire during Iraq and Afghanistan (sad, so we won't go into it again). Oh and it is Iraq (one word), not Eye-raq. :-p

Don't search for bacon porn, it is bound to exist, and be American. :-)

Ah, so you just paid a Mexican to do it for you. :-)

We actually call it the Typhoon (named after another WW2 era plane). It sounds a bit more menacing than Eurofighter, which brings an image of the Euro currency with boxing gloves to mind. :-)
