akhliber: Hello there! Heading out to walk the pup, belly-sick easing up a bit so we're going to explore the neighborhood a little and then I'm going to start two-fisting some coffee in the hopes that my brain-parts will start working at some point today. ;)
I hope you are doing well yourself!
avatar
Stilton: I'm doing good :-) Enjoy your walk. Does all of that coffee make your belly better? Too much of it makes me feel like a volcano, and the results aren't always amusing!
Oddly enough, coffee seems to be one of the only things that doesn't provoke the nausea as a given. Water and coffee seem to stay down more reliably than anything else... It's one of the reasons I've gotten so out of hand with coffee... On days when I am sick a lot, having something hot on my throat is a godsend, so coffee becomes a constant companion on those days. And, well, on pretty much every day now. :). I think the biggest problem it causes me is that it makes me more dehydrated when I forget to have a lot of water as well... But dammit, it IS mostly water, so why should I need both? ;)
And thanks, we will have a great walk, methinks. We made a pit stop in the back yard, as Sarge eyed his favorite stick andnis now busy playing with it. May as well enjoy my tablet on the patio while he is contented andndistracted. :)

Stilton: I'm on the last leg, I think (hope!). I remember it took ages before, so lets hope I don't have to do a full download again...

-Laughs- The usual stuff could be anything, clearly :-)

Bacon porn? I don't think I'll ask what that it...

Folk lore and Moomins are OK, though.

How're things with you? Is Wasteland fun?
avatar
superstande: Thanks I'm alright. Going to reserve the night for Wasteland 2, yeah it's really nice. Not so interested in the main plot at the moment - I love using skills and gaining more points in them. Like you can try to pick a lock of a gate. If you fail really bad, the lock can jam. But then you can use a repair skill to repair the lock. If that succeeds, you can try pick the lock again ;) So cool! It's full of fun stuff.
That kind of involvement can really give a game a lot more depth and suck the player in completely. It can also drive some players mad with its slowing down of the story. If there's suspense involved, if the player has to unpick the lock to stop something bad happening, then I really like it. If it puts you right in there, then that can only be a good thing.

Stilton: -Laughs- Germany has quite a lot of those, so one more won't make a lot of difference ;-)
Not really surprised about that ;)

Stilton: There's something about the style of that one that I don't like. The game looks good, as is World of Goo, but both have a cuteness that makes me a bit bilious. I could be turning into a curmudgeon, of course, which might be interesting...
The style is certainly... weird. Luckily, any style you don't like vanishes in flames pretty quickly when you set fire to it ;-)

I think its great that dogs can get such pleasure out of playing with a stick. A piece of wood. What could be simpler? One of the downsides of being human is all of the clutter we make for ourselves. I'd love to go back a few thousand years, when there were hardly any people around to complicate life, and just hang out, hunt for dinner, watch sunrise with some meade and good company, and then go to bed. I'd love some simplicity and room in my head to move in.
I think I had better call it a day, being online for too long and trying to keep up with things often gives me an even worse headache lately. But it was nice chatting with you all. I hope you will all have a lovely day, and a very nice weekend! Take care!

AgentBirdnest: *jaw drop* :-O
I had no idea about aluminium! That is bizarre! (for me.)
Ah-loom-in-eeeee-um... That's just freaky... >__o

*epic double smile hug* :-)
Did you not? Americans always cal it aluminum, which sounds quite different to aluminium, even though it is only one letter. It seems to be a thing with the US to take out random letters. Strange people. :-)
I think it is more like Ah-loo-min-ium (then ending sound like the end of plutonium, unless you lot changed that as well).

I hope you will have a lovely weekend, Mr Agent. And hopefully I will see/chat with you sometime next week.
*big hug*

You are insane but none of us care :-)

That game looks good - one for the wishlist...

Really, no idea! It's hard to say "aluminium". I feel like I'm learning a new language :-)
I'm pretty sure plutonium is still plutonium (and can be made at home by microwaving car batteries in a bowl of strawberry jello.)

Have a nice weekend, DD. See you next week. Take care of yourself!
*extra huge hug*
Today is friday, isn't it? Or is thursday yet? :-) I'm not complaining. I'm just confused.
A bunch of releases we have today and all of them quite interesting. Even the promo is tantalizing.

*phew* ... I was worried for a minute :-)

Hm... Looks a bit like the Total War games. Which is not a bad thing. Not quite one for my wish list, but one for my "keep an eye on without wishing just yet" list.

My computer clock says Friday e__e
Maybe GOG is changing things up? Switching the routine a bit... or maybe it is in preparation for a sale coming soon :-)

It sounds silly but I got curious about your discussion with DD about the word. (BIRD :-D) I did a quick search and aluminum is pretty much a US thing.

I'm not a linguist however sometimes I like to look into the story of words and expressions. Here is a nice article talking about this specifically.

As it is written in the last paragraph: "It’s a word that demonstrates the often tangled and subtle nature of word history, and how a simple statement about differences in spelling can cover a complicated story."
