Stilton: It looks good, doesn't it. Good idea and really good visual style.
Only a year to go...
That's quite interesting. I hope they reach at least the cat stretch goal. :-)
Stilton: I've always been in two minds about Deus Ex. Part of it has been the blocky visuals, the other being I'm not sure if its my thing. The visual question appears to be resolved (I presume the GOG version will accept the changes).
Which leaves the story/how it plays.
You obviously know it well, what do you like about it?
You sound like you never played it before. Is this the case?
Anyway... I wouldn't say that I know Deus Ex well. The last time I played it was more than a year ago. :-)
This is what I can say about it and it may sound a bit nostalgic
Deus Ex was the first game I played that offered different ways to reach a given objective and to show that my actions on the game have some impact on the outcome of the story told.
The story itself can be a bit wacky and has some oversights but it is interesting enough (to me at least) with conspiracies and plot twists, nothing different than any spy movie or book.
The gameplay is the same from a standard FPS game with several options for character customization (skills and equipment) that influence how you can deal with each mission.
