superstande: on a different note, Stilton mentioned this game earlier: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/06/12/deadly-tower-of-monsters-zeno-clash-devs/
Really excited about it! Supposedly it's released this fall.
Looking at the official site (and if it doesn't come independently to PC), this game might actually entice me into getting involved with the Steam thing...

And you're right, the video is great :-)

penumbren: You did hear about this, didn't you? *eg*

CarrionCrow: As for all the rest? My main annoyance with Hatred was that the developers were a bunch of cowards who wouldn't push the concept to its absolute limit. Given that, pixel nudity isn't exactly a major issue.

[...]
On the bright side of it all, this release does set the stage well for the developer's next game - a business sim wherein you run a camgirl web service.
If people are foaming at the mouth over this, they should go into full-on convulsions over that. =)
Did you see the link I left for you originally? ;)

My main annoyance with Hatred is that it looks like a boring POS game. People freaked out over the concept and made judgments on that, but after watching LPs online, I think it would bore the crap out of me within ten minutes. It always astounds me that people who have no issue with blood and guts and detailed torture scenes and murders freak right out over T&A, let alone full-blown nudity.

And yes, I saw the announcement for that game. Looks like it could be entertaining; HuniePop certainly is.

(Sorry, I'm still irritated over getting some homophobic crap on my Facebook wall from a family member. ARGH. Keep your small-minded hatred and fear to yourself, thanks very much.)

XxXSprayvWarXxX: Not actually, just lessons that helps me on school. What are you doing and how are you?
avatar
Empress_Owl: Ha ok...
I'm playing Terraria and taking care of my 2 weeks old kitty...
And I'm fine, thanks :)
avatar
Stilton: Hi Wol :-)

Doing good here. Superstande sent me off on a B Movie game hunt, so I've got my binoculars and compass in hand and I'm currently hacking through dense Amazonian vegetation looking for rare examples. I should've packed mosquito spray...

How's it with you? A day with the chicks, I suppose?
avatar
Empress_Owl: a B movie game hunt... sounds challenging. What are B movies, again ?...
Yep, a weekend with the owlets :) ... I'm playing Terraria with the eldest one, and asked him to shut up every 2 minutes because he keeps describing everything he's doing +__+
Apart from that, it's a peaceful and resting day :)
avatar
AgentBirdnest: Don't tell me you've never seen "The Goonies" ;-O
Pfft... fine, I won't torture you any further... **Quiet hug** ;-)

By the way, I just finished Pixeljunk Shooter. Thanks again!! :-D
avatar
Empress_Owl: Of course I saw the Goonies, almost 87 times :) but in French. So I don't know your song.
Finished PixelJunk Shooter ? ô__ô already ?...
I never finished it... wow ! you're good at it.
**impressed hug**
avatar
pimpmonkey2382.313: *gives everyone a hung over hug* x)
avatar
Empress_Owl: Pffffft :) those people who cannot drink...
**anti-headache hug**
Nice glad to hear! :) No problem! I hope kitty is doing fine too :)
I should probably ask about the kitty too.

Tallima: P.S. Anyone play Sir I'm Being Hunted? I just quit it. It's freaking hard! I couldn't find a hatchet. I only had 2 rounds of ammo in a rifle. I couldn't figure it out. Very hard game! And panic-inducing!
avatar
Ixamyakxim: I was always mildly interested in it, but there's been enough stuff to play / want that I haven't nabbed it. Would love a few impressions!

Also, anyone in here put a nice chunk of time into Gothic 2 and have a good memory of the early game? I have a question if so! (Heading to subforum now to make a topic, but I'm a bit impatient and wouldn't mind a fast answer ;) )
I like it, but not. I tried to the the "correct" game but I can't fool the robots to leave their areas. And I'm having a hard time finding anything useful at all. In a few hours of play, I found binoculars (you start with those), bandages (for stopping wounds), a trap, a few alarm clocks, some distracting bottles and some food. Oh, and a rifle. I haven't been able to kill anything with the rifle and I've unsuccessfully used anything other than robots to distract. But even when they're turned around, they come after me as soon as I pop my head up.

What I really need is a hatchet. Then I take them out one my one. So I'll start a new game with a hatchet if a character is available with it (I'm sure there is one).

It's an okay game, but the intensity it creates is very high for me. You can go for 15 or 30 minutes or even more without a save (you can save in the middle of the first island and at any boat you can take to another island). And the robots are deadly accurate, aware and smart. And their gunshots are incredibly loud when you have your sound turned up loud, which you should to listen for clues. And when they start shooting, you get some real adrenaline pumping. More than any game I've ever played before.

But it became repetitive and frustrating.

Worth a play for me b/c I like playing anything that's unique -- just to see if I like it. And it's quite unique, but also borrows from other games' ideas. HB has it DRM-free right now for the next few days.
Hey guys I goodnight you with this very sweet song! :) Have a good night guys! :)

Good evenoon, little thread. Hope everyone is doing fantastic... or at least decent :-)

I have nothing interesting to say, so here are some random fireworks instead, for no reason other than "I like fireworks" :-p

I think this is what drew me to it (along with liking the stealth / roguelike mechanics) but some of your impressions are what I was worried would happen for me as well. Thank you for the write up!

So, I need to be walked off the ledge here...

I'm considering buying Hunie Pop (or whatever it's called). Now before you stop speaking to me, hear me out.

This isn't a genre I'm a fan of (matching games) but I LOVED Puzzle Quest. Fantastic, amazing game that when I heard of it thought "What a stupid idea" - until I played it, at which point I couldn't believe how creative and brilliant the designers were.

So I look at a few screenshots for this one, and it sort of gives me that Puzzle Quest vibe - but I really dislike the premise and backdrop of the game. I feel like I'll need to shower after playing it. Is it that bad, or do I need someone to talk me out of this, stat?

Hey there, ElT *big return hug*
That's great to hear \o/

Doing alright here... made the mistake of reading the news, now I'm trying to erase that mistake by watching stand up comedy videos :-)
Anything interesting on your end?

superstande: Yeah well there's idiots everywhere... and when they are cowardly idiots who won't take responsibility for the actions and run away... anyhow, who knows maybe the cops have taken his license already... One can always hope ;)
I did joke with my wife that maybe we could get some automatic rifles and go for a revenge binge...:p
Anyhow, real life's a lot different from those movies where the good guys just want to solve a crime and miraculously finds the bad guy.... sometimes just by asking around :)

Indeed. I get the feeling that Finnish cops are a lot more restrained than those in the U.S., but you can still hope for some friendly chat via baton to the face when it comes to scumbags.
Glad to hear your wife's feeling better as well, at least physically.

Uh bad mistake.....fighting that with stand-up comedy sounds like a good bad though ;)

Not much...was syncing my collected data from work and read some sports news ;)

Yes, you frigging sadist, I did. That's what brought on my comment about any deity around being a total asshole.

Agreed. If I can come up with more explicitly violent ideas sitting here twiddling my thumbs on a random day, your effort to somehow shock me has failed utterly.

As for the sex versus violence thing, a lot of it can come down to a quasi-culture that still has the kind of puritanical bullshit that an origin in repressive religion can provide.
Killing people? Shit, that's nothing new, it's only been happening for millenia now. They couldn't prove that their imaginary friend has the bigger dick without it, evidently.
But nudity? NO NO NO NO! HARMFUL AND SHAMEFUL! (Unless it, you know, involves your multiple wives. Or the small child you've been molesting. Or the prostitute you've been sucking off in a bathroom stall. Or the strippers you've been paying. Or the women you've been raping who don't have the same imaginary friend as you. Then it's okay.)

Yes, I started playing earlier, and it's been enjoyable. The core of it does a good job of combining timed puzzles with match-3 along with a surprising bit of memorization and resource management. Looking forward to what their next offering looks like.

No need to apologize. Stuff like that is one of the many reasons I don't have Facebook.

Hey, that's a much better type of news :-) (Well... except when the track star brutally murders his girlfriend... Other than that though, usually not unpleasant.)

Sorry fell asleep for a moment :)
Indeed...although reading about some injuries isn't very pleasant either (but of course nowhere near murder)
