NoNewTaleToTell: Yeah, I had a manual save up around the pillars where you turn to head to the vault, it was a-okay. I guess I'll have to beat the goons and head back up there and save and hope I can beat the robots on the first go round, otherwise this is gonna get tedious...
I was actually thinking of going to the save folder of the game and copying your saves, as you said one of them worked at first but got corrupted later. In that case you could copy the original over the corrupted save and try again.

NoNewTaleToTell: You can actually visit the vault doors earlier before you meet the new character and can save near there without any issue, so I'm guessing it's caused by something in the later part of the level, maybe an incorrect trigger?
Awesome thank you I really appreciate this! Corrupted saves are a pet peeve of mine and I'm guessing your explanation above could be close to spot on for the reason. I'll try to avoid this situation when I get to the game! It was one I was SO excited for and I still haven't fired it up. Oddly enough I'm not even a "massive backlog" person so I can't even blame having 20 games to play.

I guess I'm just saving it for a rainy day when I'm ready to play a nice juicy turnbased and well done RPG and don't have one...

FearfulSymmetry: Oh hell yes. I read some Schiller as part of literary theory and it was terrible. I hate literary theory anyway but this was particularly awful. :P And yep, when I saw some of those Shakespeare (and contemporaries) plays in Stratford in traditional style I was really amazed by them, just because it isn't done here.

Well, I think I'll go to bed as I'm kind of tired. Have a nice rest of the day, everyone! :)

ElTerprise: Yes we had some of his theoretical essays in German class in school (my teacher was a fan of Schiller). But to be fair i guess it's really difficult to properly translate Schiller into other languages...from what i remember from his work.

Wish you a good night and sleep well *big good night hug* :)
That's why we had to read it in German, I suppose. Fun times were had by all, especially by those who dropped German in high school...

*Goodnight wave*

I guess that makes it even more fun because even native speakers sometimes find him difficult....

Eh, too late now haha. I just deleted my quick save and manual save and started from the autosave and am back where I need to be. After you open the vault doors you can head back to the cover immediately outside (where the goons were) and save and it's a-okay to save there. So the saves only get corrupted if you save directly in front of the vault doors. Weird.

No problem! In a lot of ways it does seem to be a direct improvement over Returns (which I really enjoyed) so it's definitely worth your time. Basically just avoid saving directly in front of the vault doors and you should be okay!

I also loved Returns, but it seems that Dragonfall added in everything I expect from a "more traditional" RPG campaign so I'm certainly looking forward to it.

Nope, but feeling drowsy and watching the movie porky's.
Damn it. Made some lunch, sat down, ate, then promptly dozed off in my chair again. Could've sworn I didn't lace my burrito with sleeping pills beforehand...

Hmm. There's a thought. I'd like to think that if I went that route, I'd at least try to be fast so I could remember part of assaulting myself before the drugs kicked in.
