Yes, definitely. Allergies beat the hell out of being sick.

superstande: Evening!
Yeah, not sure violence solves anything... but a person who drives like that... well I just wish they took away his license at least. At least my wife only got a bit of bruises and nothing is broken.

Ahh, the codes are for humble, not sure how that happened :) I didn't see the gog release announcement in time. Well maybe I can still gift the steam key(s) :) for some reason Humble is having problems giving me download links, as if this mess wasn't enough...
Someone who drives that way shouldn't be allowed to drive at all.

Sounds like you're having all kinds of item-related fun today.

Is there a GOG specific disease that I don't know of?
Not-an-asshole-itis... because too many good people are getting sick :-p

Does anyone know what the consensus is on how well Windows 10 handles games? I'm thinking ahead to July (June?) next year when the free upgrade expires - I'm in no rush to try it right now.

No first hand information here, but just based on how quickly, easily and how many games GoG was able to get "up and running" with Win 10, I'm guessing it's a pretty good solution. Also, based on peoples' performance talk and the Direct X support it seems like a pretty good platform for gaming.

Which is a shame, as I was a bit turned off by a few of the other choices made - but if that stuff doesn't bother you it really does seem like Win 10 is a pretty good all around OS for now and for later.

The concern is also what will happen to 7 in the long term. Upped DX is nice, but right now 7 really is pretty good. I've got an XP box for any gaps that 7 might leave, but I suppose its inevitable that 7 will go the same way as XP and 10 will take over. Microsoft want it to be their final OS, apparently.

I'm hoping that even when support dies for 7, it still sticks around as a pretty viable OS in the long haul, like XP did. If not, we can always hope those folks at Wine, DosBox and even here on GoG keep doing what they do to keep the classics (and soon to be classics!) alive and well.

I did not know Microsoft was hoping to just have iterations of 10 from now on - interesting. Curious how that will play out.

I've got a lot of fondness for XP. Its that trusty warhorse that's proven itself in battle and it just keeps going. It gets a bit sketchy at times, but it still plays things I've spent solid months of my life enjoying. I've a feeling 7 could work out in a similar way. They've got the same kind of feel.

What aspects of 10 put you off?

superstande: alrighty! hello! what's up?
so... I accidentally claimed both my ROM purchases... so much for a drm-free giveaway...

also some bastard tried to run over my wife with a car at a crossroads... then sped away, my wife fell and hit her knee as she was driving a bicycle and had to do heavy breaking.
not usually into revenge but I wouldn't mind going after him for a bit talking-to, if I could ever meet him again.
Oh damn! So sorry to hear that! Is she okay now? Hopefully she is!

Hello Guys how are you? I just came back from extra school! And I seeing all these new releases!

I ran XP for a really long time too. I still have a functioning desktop that runs it but that doesn't see much use.

I didn't like some of the reports that adjusting privacy settings seems to be deliberately obtuse. And I'm fully buying into the notion that it really could evolve into more of an al a carte service than an OS. If it doesn't I'll probably bite on it (just because aside from the things I mentioned, everything else about its performance has been positive) and if it does I've been playing around with a few other OS (but also still enjoying my OEM Win 7!).

I'm screwed either way. If I don't get sick I'm bad. If I do get sick I'm not bad but I'll feel bad. :-P

Could you clarify your a la carte comment? And yes, privacy is a biggie. I don't know why they haven't observed more of the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' approach that by now has had a long time to evolve and prove its worth. There are features people want in an OS and to ignore those needs isn't sound business. Vista and 8 were not a good idea.

Have you experimented with Linux?

Any thoughts on Read Only Memories?
I can't tell if it looks real fun, or real dumb.
The graphics are intentionally awful and I can't really tell what the gameplay is, let alone if it sounds interesting. :-)

Its one of those titles that just puts me off, pretty much for the same reasons you state. So far the votes are a bit limp, and I don't think they're going to change much. Personally I'm happy to let it pass like a spell of gastric wind (too much information, sorry) :-) I'd really like GOG to put demos out, it would've saved me the few wrong turns I've made in my collection.

That could be a good basis for a PC game...
