ddickinson: I am probably speaking rubbish, but that book sounds familiar. I can't say I have read it, but it definitely sounds familiar. I will take a look at it sometime, although vampire books are really not my kind of thing.
Careful there. I will be all kinds of upset if you say you know a book when it turns out you don't. ;)

That's fine, of course. It's just what my brain came up with as a response to Twilight's innate awfulness.
avatar
ddickinson: You want GOG to sell digitalised copies of corruptive demonic games? What of the poor children who use the site, they would not stand a chance against the evil corruption of Barry. :-)
Yep! *waves money around*

It's too late for the children. Those who grew up with Barry are already beyond saving anyhow. For the kids now the graphics of the games will be too ugly and therefore not 'cool' I suppose. :P
avatar
ElTerprise: Hmm...will take a look at your channel later. Bookmarked it for the moment :)
Hmm.....actually never really took notice about those games to be honest....
Well the Lego are really fun in Co-op :)

Atleast in any way :P
I loved those games. Basically you play as Harry (in the first two games, later on you get to be Ron and Hermione as well) and you go around the school completing classes and facing down Voldemort. It's sort of linear RPG/adventure except for the fact that you can't really invest in skills, you just learn different spells over the course of the game.

If you're familiar with the film Contact I recently-ish made a video I'm quite happy with. If you're going to watch something it might as well be one I'm actually pleased with I suppose. :P

LeoLR: Good evening, dd.

I'll join you. Listing only those I can relate to.

+/- - Cyberpunk Culture (I find some aspects very interesting)
✔ - LOTR
✔ - Video Games
✔ - Harry Potter (Burn me at a stake if you want. :-) It was a good reading in my opinion.)
✔ - Dungeons & Dragons (I assume it's the pen&paper RPG. Played a lot in my youth)
✔ - Fornication (I'll use the same considerations you used here.)
✔ - Rock Music

~7 of 47.

ddickinson: Another Harry Potter culprit. So it is officially a cult now, that darn book has corrupted the souls of everyone but me so far. Is out thread doomed? :-)

Thank you for taking part. So we are tied at 7 each. But sadly Harry Potter pushes your percent to 100. :-)

avatar
FearfulSymmetry: Yep. Basically I was doing fine but my optician was not pleased and switched my contact lenses around, and I've been struggling ever since. I've tried to put up with it because it's supposed to be better for me but right now my eyes are telling me that it's definitely not. :P They switched me from month lenses to half a year ones and I really want to go back to getting nice new ones every month. But yeah, still have a couple more months to go before this half a year is up. I've been wearing my glasses a lot.

Mwahahahaha! On that note, I'm rereading Macbeth right now for one of my courses. Double double toil and trouble! Fire burn and cauldron bubble!

Great, I made a word! I also coined a new Dutch word for my contact lens problems. It's "droogbal" a contraction of "droog" and "oogbal", which is "dry" and "eyeball" and it combines in a great way in Dutch.

*super happy not so demonic hug*
avatar
ddickinson: Can you not just ask for monthly ones if you prefer them? I have some glasses at the moment, but not for eye sight as such, they are for my headaches and to help block out the light a little. I have been wearing them all the time for a while, but I can't wait to not need them anymore. I think I look nice in them, but I prefer to not have to worry about looking after them or nodding off while wearing them.

So Demonism and witch craft. Maybe Agent is not the worst. :-)

So two new words, we shall have to start the unofficial thread dictionary or made up words. :-)

*big hug for the possibly demonic and witch craft loving Fearful* :-)
*squees* DD!!!
*hugs D with all of my might*

CarrionCrow: I sincerely hope not. Things get fun enough without the balance getting all out of whack. -laughs-

I try not to. 99 times out of 100, when I read different threads here, I end up wishing I hadn't wasted the time.

From what I've seen, Twilight is a mix of really crappy vampire mythology mixed with creepy religious undertones.
So I take it that if GOG brought the Twilight movies here I should definitely resist gifting you them? :-)

One of the advantages of me not really watching movies or TV anymore is I get to miss all the horrible stuff, which seems to be the majority of stuff these days.

ddickinson: I do find it strange on the internet. Even with smily faces and things I always worry people will take things the wrong way. I am fine face to face, we have body language and facial expressions that help, but online we just have text.
I use a really annoying amount of emoticons to make up for it :-)
Sometimes I wanna jump out of my skin because I can't made the same expressions and body language here that I do face to face >__<
I always worry that people will take what I say the wrong way ,','',',,',',:-|
It is a bit embarrassing at times, because I know too many emoticons is awkward :"|
Tant pis... You guys will just have to deal with the way I talk and emote ;-p
If you don't deal with it, then I will be very upset ):-|
Hm... I'm really overdoing it with these examples n__o
I learned it from Owl, I swear ,','',',:-O
Aww... I miss Owl :'-|',,',',','',',',
When she comes back, I'll cheer \o/
I'm done now. I promise ;-)

Yeah...that might be a bit of a waste. Just a little.

So true. So, so true. The stuff that's appealing tends to bubble to the surface sooner or later. Waiting is better than diving into the cesspool for it.
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: That's okay, different people have different tastes. It's no problem for me. I just particularly hate Twilight because I think it gives off a really wrong vibe. Some dude breaking into a girl's bedroom and watching her the entire night without her knowing and without her consent? That's not romantic, it's freaking creepy.

I like A Song of Ice and Fire but I hate it at the same time. The books have a way of sucking you in but sometimes I really want to kick George R. R. Martin because he's a sadist.
I know, but that is what makes things fun that we don't all like the same things. I mean we wouldn't be having silly fun about Barry Potter if we all liked it. :-)

I am not sure why I don't like Game of Thrones. I usually like the whole fantasy setting stuff, but it just did not really gel with me at all. Not that that is a problem, there are plenty more books out there to discover.

I know, I would not want to upset you :-). I probably am remembering it wrong, I am quite warn out today. It is the authors name that rings a bell, but I really can't be sure. So let's just pretend I don't know it and have never heard of it. :-)

I appreciate the suggestion. I have nothing against vampire books, and I have read a few over the years, but I guess hearing about all the over-saturation of the market due to things like Twilight I tend to get put off certain genres for a while.

Doesn't sound too bad - not sure if that's my type of game but i can see the appeal.

I think i watched it once some years ago ... bookmarked the video :D

Definitely. I know there's some really popular stuff I can't get through, and on the other hand I really like some things others don't like at all. And that's indeed fun. :)

Well, it is quite a bit different from the usual fantasy stuff. And it's extremely bleak. I suppose it's not a very rewarding series in that way. The good guys always lose.

Yeah, I'm seeing them through nostalgic goggles of course, but it's still fun. :) I had such difficulty beating Voldemort at the end of the first game as a kid, I didn't actually manage it until several years later. The quidditch segments were terrible too. Funnily enough I actually quite like those sections now. :P

It is never too late. There is always hope. We will never let the Barry occult rule the world, especially with old graphics like that. :-)

I can't speak for everyone, but for me at least you don't have to worry about me taking things the wrong way. Even if I did I would just ask and we would clear it up. So no need to worry too much.

Only cheer? I am planning fireworks and explosions for when she gets back. How about you be in charge of the big fires? :-)

*big hug*

I guess it must be worse for Americans with all the horrible shows, as you make most of the stuff and so you are exposed to it all. We get some over in Europe, but not all. movies are different, they usually go everywhere, but much of the TV stuff stays in the US for the most part. i guess there is just so much made that other countries can't take it all and have their own stuff. And I may be rambling and making no sense. I am getting a bit overwhelmed with keeping up on here so if I am not making much sense them I apologise. :-)

Right. Especially with how frequently you already do so. -laughing hard-

That's fine. I think it's pretty good, have read the whole series more than once, so I mentioned it.

It's not great, to be sure. I stopped watching about 95 percent of all TV years ago. I've got my Netflix and that's more than sufficient.

Don't worry, you're coming through just fine, clarity-wise. Still making sense, not rambling. =)

What can I say, I just have a habit of upsetting people. It must be my rude mannerism. :-)

I always enjoy learning about new books, so I will have a look at it one time. I can't promise I will read it, but I will look into it.

I can see how Netflix would be a plus these days. And you don't get the adverts, which used to drive me nuts.

That is good, although it feels that way lately.

FearfulSymmetry: Nostalgic gaming pictures! Oh I would pay good money if GOG ever got hold of those games ... I still have the discs, of course, but the optimization is terrible and one has to jump through all kinds of hoops to get them working at all on modern systems ...

*biggest silliest hug ever*
Who knows?
I assume the rights for these games are with Warner. Since we already have some Warner games here on GOG maybe there is a chance for their release in the future.

That sometimes happens :P
And it's actually quite nice to have the chance (in lack of a better word ^^) to revisit games after years and beat parts you struggled with earlier....never worked for me though....i still struggle with the driving test in the first Driver for example :P

Uhm...if i'm not mistaken the games were published by EA so i guess they might be in a licensing hell now...similar to the LOTR games from EA....

Of course. But all the reassurance in the world won't stop someone from OCD with worrying about it anyway :-p

Sorry, what were you saying? I heard the words "Owl" and "big fires", and pretty much nothing else ;-)

*11 hugs*
