ElTerprise: O.o....Internet went out for a moment....

LeoLR: I could use the soundtracks I already downloaded or the songs that Stilton and akhliber exchanged yesterday to make up for it.
avatar
ElTerprise: Sounds like a great idea...but it depends on the soundtrack i guess

EndreWhiteMane: Would CK-II be worth playing without ANY of the DLCs installed.
(I stole one of Leos posts to reply to so you'd see this)
avatar
ElTerprise: I guess so because many of the new features were implemented via patches but you'll definitely have a much lesser experience compared to a CKII game with the content expansions (cannot say anything about the most recent DLC though because i don't have it yet)
Do you have any suggestions as to which 1 or 2 DLCs would be most worth getting?

Uh that's difficult. I found Legacy of Rome really interesting because i love playing the Byzantine Empire. Castrating and blinding your rivals is fun :P

Oh and The Old Gods because of the expanded Pagans :)

But honestly every content expansion - well maybe aside from Sunset Invasion (which adds the possibility of an alt-history Aztec Invasion of Europe) - is worth it. Maybe this wiki-page might help you.

All other DLC apart from those "Major DLC" is only cosmetic, music or some other stuff like the Ruler Designer or the CKII-EUIV save game converter (which was pretty broken the last time i tried it).

Nice, thanks. ;)

You're welcome.

I just looked at the Steam page. The entire Collection at 75% off still costs around 36€ ... and i did the math. Getting only the content DLC costs either 31€ (with Sunset Invasion but without Horse Lords) or 23€ (without both)....o.O

Edit: The Collection doesn't even include all content DLC....

And of course Horse Lords and its content pack are the ones that most interest me.
I'm never a cheap date it seems. :-)

Well it's the most recent one. I'm actually surprised that it is already discounted.

But i must admit. The contents of that DLC sound really interesting.

I'm okay! Had some minor annoyances today but it's otherwise fine, and it's the weekend now so it's all good. :) I went to see the Martian in the cinema yesterday and really enjoyed it, despite the fact that they cut my favorite bit. :P

Sorry to hear that but at least you're okay :)
I vaguely remember that we talked about the book the movie is based on - aside from the part they cut - is the movie faithful to the book and more important is it preferable to have read the book before watching it? I haven't got to read it yet...
Evenoon, people of my favourite thread. How's your Friday? :-)

Installing games after my fresh Windows 7 install. There are a few in bundles I bought that I've never been able to play until now (due to using XP :-p). Can't wait to try them!

Hi Tyger, doin' OK, hope you are too.
Hello again, all! Not saying much today, low on energy reserves and having a cuddle-fest kind of day with the pup, with naps coming when they choose, instead of calling the shots myself. :) I hope you are all doing as well as possible!

Hello there! I seem to be sleeping more in the past day than I usually do in a week or more... fortunately, the pup is being the most loving I've seen him, and seems to know I'm a bit too tired for any rough play.
I hope you are doing well today yourself!

Hello! Windows 7 is by far my favorite Windows experience thus far. XP was a close second. I recall being excited when I installed 7 to try the games I couldn't get to work on XP. I don't remember what game it was, but there was one that I could never get to work on XP, but would work fine on 7, so long as it was in compatibility mode for Windows XP. I found that quite amusing at the time. ;)

Yes, it is faithful to the book otherwise. Not all the events were the same but it was in the same kind of atmosphere as the book. Some of the events had to be dumbed down a little, but that is understandable, as film is a very different medium, and in this case it worked well. The Martian is a funny and yet touching book and the film was the exact same. I think Matt Damon did a very good job in this one. As for which one first: I don't think it really matters, they both have the same kind of 'spirit', so if you like one you'll like both. Maybe go with the film first, though, because if you like the bit they cut as much as I did then you can save it as a nice surprise later and not be disappointed that it's not in the film. :P

Hi Endre, good to see you! Yep, I'm doing fine as well. :) Got a reasonably busy weekend ahead.

Hey, good to see you! Are you doing a bit better otherwise already? Taking your rest is definitely a good idea. :) And yes, dogs sense that. My sister has a chronic illness and our dog always senses when she is feeling down and comes to console her. It's very sweet. The cat senses it too but he just goes the other way. Iffy humans with pesky emotions. :P
