ElTerprise: It's a great idea :)
Concerning Barry Potter: I realised quite early that the author was very fond of ripping of...i mean taking inspiration from other older material (best thing i ever saw on Facebook (which i hate but i need to have 'cause university -.-): Tolkien (yep that Tolkien being accused of ripping of Harry Potter o.O )...but i got the books as gifts from my grandmother and i actually enjoyed them as a kid / teen (i mean i got the first book back in '98)

Phew...thanks for not taking that into account for the test :)
Bahahaha. Tolkien ripped off everything in the book but not Harry Potter, obviously. The Edda, though? Sure. Beowulf? Definitely. Got most of those fancy names from Old English sources and such.

akhliber: XTC? Oh man, that's some dangerous stuff! You can just hear the evil pouring out of every note!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Da9sc6YDBo

;)

(I'm guessing they're referring to the drug ecstasy, which someone much younger than myself told me recently "isn't even what that stuff is called anymore." I guess I'm too old for drug culture. :)
you could be right with the drug reference, I never thought of that.

AgentBirdnest: Total out of 47 possible influences = 12. About 25% :-)
That is fine, I never meant to imply people had to do the whole list and post it, just the result. although it would be interesting to see what people have tried. Like you and Backmasking, which I only learned the term for today. Another victim of Barry Potter. I guess that makes you 100% as well, but as we are counting only the score, you get a 12, which so far makes you the most demonic. :-)

*big demonic hug*

FearfulSymmetry: I switched to a different type of contact lens and the results are mixed at best. Once I'm done with these I think I'll ask if we can change things around a bit more. Now I can only wear them for a few hours before my eyes become too dry, which is not really what I have contact lenses for. :P

Haha, I'll fill out the list below for those curious. I'm not overly demonic though. I don't think I've sprouted horns at any rate ... *touches head*

Yeah, I'll have to put a tick for meditation as well, as it's part of yoga, even if I don't really use it either. I guess I could put a tick for eastern religions as I've attended a few Buddhist ceremonies, but that was when I was young and my mother is kind of into it. It's not really a me thing though so I might leave it unticked. Also, Crow's list is missing Reiki. I may need to add an extra category and tick for knowing that. :P Haha, I don't really know? I guess most of us will score around the same ... but true demonism (is that a word?) lurks deep inside ...

9 out of 47, which is a percentage I'm too lazy to calculate. :P

I'm going to add an extra one that Crow didn't put in though:

✔ - Reiki (palm-healing and distance healing. my mother is a grandmaster in it and as such I picked up a few certificates as a child.)
That does not sound so good. Sorry to hear the new ones are not so good. I hope the next set will work out a lot better. I remember you having trouble before with your lenses?

Don't worry, you are not the most demonic, so far Agent is. :-)

And I am not sure to be honest if Demonism is a word, my spell check does not complain. Either way it can be a word now. :-)

*big not the most demonic hug*

I am only being playful about Barry Potter. I personally can't stand them, or the author, but I know people really enjoy them. I am just having a bit of silly fun. Plus they really are demonic. I am surprised you can't feel them sucking your soul as you read them. :-)

FearfulSymmetry: Man, the show was such a let-down. I thought it was going to be awesome because the first season is a great and accurate representation, but it all went downhill from there. I stopped watching at the end of season 3, but I'm trying to get over my dislike and watch it again.
That's unfortunate. I watched the first 7-8 episodes of season 1 and i really liked it....

ddickinson: Good evening, everyone! I hope you are all doing okay this evening/day?

I saw Crow's list of evil activities, and thought it would be fun to see how many I am guilty off. Feel free to copy the list and take part as well. It will be interesting to see who the most evil among us is. :-)
...
Total out of 47 possible influences = 7, which is like 15%.
Good evening, dd.

I'll join you. Listing only those I can relate to.

+/- - Cyberpunk Culture (I find some aspects very interesting)
✔ - LOTR
✔ - Video Games
✔ - Harry Potter (Burn me at a stake if you want. :-) It was a good reading in my opinion.)
✔ - Dungeons & Dragons (I assume it's the pen&paper RPG. Played a lot in my youth)
✔ - Fornication (I'll use the same considerations you used here.)
✔ - Rock Music

Yep. Basically I was doing fine but my optician was not pleased and switched my contact lenses around, and I've been struggling ever since. I've tried to put up with it because it's supposed to be better for me but right now my eyes are telling me that it's definitely not. :P They switched me from month lenses to half a year ones and I really want to go back to getting nice new ones every month. But yeah, still have a couple more months to go before this half a year is up. I've been wearing my glasses a lot.

Mwahahahaha! On that note, I'm rereading Macbeth right now for one of my courses. Double double toil and trouble! Fire burn and cauldron bubble!

Great, I made a word! I also coined a new Dutch word for my contact lens problems. It's "droogbal" a contraction of "droog" and "oogbal", which is "dry" and "eyeball" and it combines in a great way in Dutch.

*super happy not so demonic hug*

Yeah, season one was excellent. Two was all right. Halfway through season three I was really starting to get upset with all the arbitrary changes they were making (the woes of having read the books first) and by episode nine I decided to give up. I recently rewatched season three, though, and am now stuck at the third episode of season four. I have to keep watching though as we're reaching the moment where the series gets further along the storyline than the books are so I have to tune back in for that.

Another Harry Potter culprit. So it is officially a cult now, that darn book has corrupted the souls of everyone but me so far. Is out thread doomed? :-)

Thank you for taking part. So we are tied at 7 each. But sadly Harry Potter pushes your percent to 100. :-)

Can you not just ask for monthly ones if you prefer them? I have some glasses at the moment, but not for eye sight as such, they are for my headaches and to help block out the light a little. I have been wearing them all the time for a while, but I can't wait to not need them anymore. I think I look nice in them, but I prefer to not have to worry about looking after them or nodding off while wearing them.

So Demonism and witch craft. Maybe Agent is not the worst. :-)

So two new words, we shall have to start the unofficial thread dictionary or made up words. :-)

*big hug for the possibly demonic and witch craft loving Fearful* :-)

I could, but the half year ones are supposed to be better because they can fit them to the shape of my eye, whereas the monthly ones were apparently a bit too tight. Still, this is really not working out as I've never had so many problems in the eight or so years I've been wearing lenses. Yeah, I don't like glasses either. The pressure of them on my ears sometimes gives me headaches, and I don't like not having clear vision from the corners of my eyes. They get wet when it rains and you can't see anything, and it's much harder to do sports with them. :P

Secretly I'm just evil. I've been toying with the idea of writing a book this november that basically loosely takes Shakespeare's Richard III and sets it in space. I'm messed up in the head. :P

That might be fun! I'm sure I could think of a couple more. Along with some really bad puns.

Okay, here goes:

✔ - Eastern Religions (I'm not the religious sort, but I really enjoy reading religious texts from around the world, and relate quite a bit to some branches of buddhism)
✔ - Yoga (so long as corpse pose counts! j/k I do actually do some yoga with my wife, but I'm pretty awful at it at the moment. Hoping we'll have enough time to get back into it regularly, just so I can get my moving parts used to moving and stretching again)
✘ - Freemasonry
✘ - Illuminati Groups
✘ - New Age Religions
✘ - Church of Satan
✘ - Scientology
✘ - Rosicrucianism
✘ - Astrology
✘ - Tarot Cards (I used to give readings to friends, and really enjoyed researching and reading up on them when doing it, but I was never able to see it as more than an interesting and odd card game of sorts)
✔ - Ouiji Boards (I don't actually use it, but I have an original wood William Fuld Ouija board, which was made sometime between 1938 and 1945... found it in my grandparents' attic, which is particularly strange considering my grandparents were the sort to see a list like this and believe it... in fact, my name "akhliber" came from toying with the Ouija board with a friend when I was 12. For some reason I just started using it as a nickname and it's been my profile name just about everywhere and email ever since.)
✘ - Remote Viewing
✘ - Palmistry
✘ - Voodoo
✘ - Earth Worship
✘ - Wicca
✘ - Cyberpunk Culture
✘ - Divination
✔ - Meditation (used to be quite central to my life for spiritual reasons, now it just brings me peace of mind and some nice, well-needed inner calm from time to time)
✘ - Vegetarianism
✘ - Lycanthropy
✘ - Postmodernism
✘ - Backmasking
✘ - Astral-Projection
✘ - Necromancy
✘ - Re-birthing
✘ - Kabbalah
✔ - LOTR
✘ - Fire Waking
✘ - Levitation
✘ - Alt "Comix"
✘ - Trilateralism
✔ - Marihuana & Pot Parties (if "medicating by myself so I can hold down an Ensure" counts as a party. That's about as close as I'll come to a party of any sorts anyway, so I suppose it counts?) ;)
✘ - LSD/Shrooms (not checking this, though it was something pretty central to my life for several years. I get the "benefits" naturally now though, thanks to my wonky brain) ;)
✔ - Video Games
✔ - Harry Potter (well, I really want to like them. They were some of my wife's first favorite books growing up, and I've enjoyed watching the movies with her. Not a way I'd choose to spend my time otherwise, but I doubt that excuse will save me from damnation!)
✘ - Dungeons & Dragons
✔ - Hallowe'en
✔ - Fornication
✘ - Skull & Bones
✔ - Rock Music
✘ - Heavy Metal
✘ - Burning Man
✘ - Twilight Films
✘ - Raves & XTC
✘ - Goth Culture

So, 11 of 47 I suppose. You do the math, I'm all sleepified again. ;)

Watch the show first if you want to watch it at all. As a book reader it's an utter disappointment and it really makes me sad because it could have been so awesome. :(

Hmm...don't you think Tolkien would've been capable of that...maybe he also ripped off the time machine Einstein used in C&C Red Alert :P

Should I be scared now? I mean, I am outnumbered by Barry Potter loving demonic worshippers. Hopefully the others will be on my side, but even then I fear the Barry occult will outnumber us. :-)

I know, it is very risky to insult religious figures, and those occultists are quite funny about insulting Barry. :-)

Well, as I said, I don't like them but people do, so who am I to say anything. We all like different things. It would be very boring if we all liked the same, especially if that meant I had to like Barry. :-)

That seems to be the way with cults, they always try to get new members to corrupt. :-)

I have no real problem keeping them clean, I just forget I am wearing them as I am not used to them. I know it sounds silly forgetting you are wearing them, but I just do. Maybe it is due to me being ill and not being able to concentrate on things properly, or I am just not used to them. I will keep my fingers crossed you will get your lenses sorted soon. If not we can mail your optician a Barry Potter book, doming their souls for all eternity as punishment. :-)

That sounds like a nice idea. The wonderful thing about Shakespeare's plays is that they can be adapted quite easily (as is evident by all the movie adaptations, although apparently many of them are rubbish, but that is due to the modern writing, not the plot as such).

*big return hug*
