Stilton: I'm still surprisingly comforted (if that word can be used in conjunction with any Microsoft product) by both how well XP handles games and just how many games work on it. It makes absolute sense to have an XP machine to guarantee continued pain free access to a large chunk (investment) of games. But things is moving on, so a Win7 machine is also sensible. I haven't decided whether to update to 10 yet - its probably prudent to wait a while longer and see if any major problems come to light. XP and 7 are a very useful combo, though, and should keep me happy for some time yet.
XP is the go-to for all finicky titles on GOG that won't work with later versions. Would say the best possible combo is one machine with that, and one with 7. Vista and 8 are both crap. Also not touching 10 after the mess they made out of 8. I have no desire for my stockpile to have more compatibility problems because the morons screwed everything up and made it worse.
