Bought System Shock Enhanced today. I look forward to taking it for a spin!

dglover: Realms of the Haunting is one of my all-time favourite games, and I think it might fit what you're looking for. It's not really "scary" so much as just filled with dark imagery, and has a heaven/hell theme to it. Maybe give that a look?
I have Realms here. I haven't played it. Thanks. I'll keep it mind.

superstande: Howdy!
How about Nosferatu Wrath of Malachi? I have only played it a bit, but the atmosphere seemed quite well done :)

And this one I haven't played at all, but I know of Clive Barker's stuff so it might be a nice game... Clive Barker's Undying...
Um if you want to avoid any kind of gory bits how about Costume Quest? I think it actually is good although not very long.
I have played Costume Quest but I haven't finished it. That'll probably be one I do. I'm familiar with Clive Barker's Undying, not fussy about it. I haven't played Nosferatu though. I looked into it just now. It looks good, I'll keep it in mind thanks.

The controls are still driving me bonkers but it's a great improvement over the original.
This one I did read the specs on and chose to ignore them, it plays just fine on my ancient Vista box.

This sounds like an exchange of Halloween game recommendations! Could it really be about that time already???

I actually bought Outlast during the Summer Sale last year with the intention of doing that one during / around Spooky Season. I also happened to grab Knock Knock, which is the game I ACTUALLY ended up playing LOL ;) On the bright side, I did save Outlast for this year so I'll be firing it up in a few weeks. Love playing them late at night with the lights off - I'll pair it with bourbon barrel stout too, which seems like the perfect fit and a recipe for a solid night in.
Hey folks, how is everyone tonight/today/this afternoon/morning?
Good Morning N2T3 :)
Half-asleep would be the answer... but the coffee is on the way!
How are you?

I'm hoping for an Insomnia or any kind of heavy sale... not that I need any games... but for the fun and festivity of it... :)

Doing pretty decent here, could probably use some coffee myself though!

When is the next big sale anyway? I'm guessing in a few weeks?

*pours some dark roasted coffee*
Here you go! :)

Hmm... I have no idea about the next sale. If the Winter Sale is next, it might take some time. But there could be one before that... hard to say :)
Well, got to the end of Doom 2, and the ultimate payoff for clearing 29 levels is an absolutely idiotic final boss, whose challenge is almost solely based on a combo of the designers throwing away one of the primary game mechanics and virtually all weapons suddenly being ineffective. More than a bit disappointing.

I feel bad for you! I actually just logged on to post a review (hopefully it goes up in a few days!) here on GoG of Shadow Warrior, the 2013 reboot. While I haven't made it nearly all the way through, it's an FPS that's just been an amazingly stupid fun ride so far. Everything about it is well executed and it reminds me of why I like to play game - pure juvenile, unadulterated fun.

I'm only playing this one because I was lucky enough to jump into Owl's giveaway thread at the right time and boy am I glad I did! Here's hoping I don't end up finding the game closes out with an equally annoying boss!

*edit to add - Wasn't it one of the doom games where a dev "glitched" his image into the final boss? I know it wasn't Carmack... and I'm not sure if it was Doom 1 or 2... though I guess it COULD have been Wolfenstein. Please someone help me here because I feel like I'm rambling / grasping at straws at this point LOL ;)

Yeah, Shadow Warrior 2013 is a good game. No need to worry, I've beaten that one and the bosses aren't put together moronically like the last one for Doom 2 is.

I think it was Doom 2, and the head of John Romero was behind the last boss. (The last boss is a frigging wall, red flag number one for "this boss is going to be very, very stupid.)

Coffee! Thanks!

Wasn't the first Insomnia Sale in October or perhaps November? Ah my memory is pretty terrible at times....

Hey CarrionCrow! Sorry about the Doom 2 boss, I had a similar letdown with Doom 3. The final boss fight in Doom 3 was probably the easiest in the entire game!

Figured the first Insomnia Sale was around that time but couldn't put my finger on it.

Isn't that the one where you're throwing the soul cube at it? It's been a long time since I beat that one.

It's okay. I remember that one well since it was when my buying obsession/compulsion/whatever started in full. Hit that sale like a bandit, stayed up for days.
