CarrionCrow: I think it was Doom 2, and the head of John Romero was behind the last boss. (The last boss is a frigging wall, red flag number one for "this boss is going to be very, very stupid.)
LOL I was thinking it was Romero in Doom 2 (or Romero in Wolfenstein) - fitting that a D-Bag final boss that's a wall with bad clipping / gameplay issues was Romero (just kidding John - I appreciate what you did for the genre before your game became a decades long joke! ;) )

NoNewTaleToTell: Coffee! Thanks!
Don't tempt me! I'm ready for bed, but it's the perfect sort of Autumn night for a warm cup of that heady smelling brew! I even have the slider open just enough in the desktop gaming room to let in the sort of chill just begging for a hot coffee!

And I hate to break it, but I think GoG might scale down Insomnia. I'm guessing the next is well far away (probably after Holidays / Christmas). I wonder if they'll do the same Fall followed oddly soon by Holiday Flash sale they did last year?

CarrionCrow: Isn't that the one where you're throwing the soul cube at it? It's been a long time since I beat that one.

It's okay. I remember that one well since it was when my buying obsession/compulsion/whatever started in full. Hit that sale like a bandit, stayed up for days.
That's the one. All you have to do is run around simulating NASCAR, stopping just long enough to refill the Soul Cube. A complete waste of the (in my opinion) great buildup earlier in the level. At one point I enabled unlimited health and jumped off the ring and did some exploring, you can find a tunnel/cave down there, it doesn't go anywhere though.

The Insomnia Sale hit me pretty hard too, and that was actually when I first became active here on the forums.

Prime example of someone trying to be edgy while building up hype that they completely failed to deliver on.
(Also, dear gods, I still have Daikatana to play. Almost forgot about that.)

As I recall, it wasn't difficult in the slightest. Didn't mind the game overall, but that boss was bad in the opposite direction.

Now wondering what the new Doom is going to bring to the table. Watched 8 minutes of gameplay footage, and it looks like it has potential if they don't screw it up somehow.

Likewise. Really didn't talk here until then. But once you're up that frigging long, and you've sat through the lulls, it's either start talking, fall asleep or scream out of sheer boredom.

Hi folks! I'm enjoying reading your stories of boss fight frustrations... iron infusion left me all-out exhausted today, but of course now that I'm done nodding off at random, sleep is nowhere to be found. Feeling extra-happy to have a comfy chair and good headphones, as my brain is going on overdrive, but my body feels a bit too heavy to actually try to lumber around and do things. ;)

I hope you all have a lovely night/morning/something-or-other!

Funny how often that happens. Sleep when things are active, stay awake when things are quiet.

Certainly not a doctor, but iron infusions don't sound like a fun time. Hope you're feeling all right after having to deal with it.

Perfect time to just zone out and listen to some jams, I can dig it. Truth be told that can be just as relaxing as a few hours of sleep, at least to me. How's Sarge doing these days?

I've been visiting my parents, they have a Great Pyrenees that has taken to me. Cool dog, he thinks it's funny to sit on people's feet....it IS pretty funny but he weighs a hundred or so pounds, maybe that's why it's so funny, ha.
Just finished Guild of Dungeoneering (until they eventually do the New Game+ they've promised, anyway). Fun game, but definitely one to play in short spurts unless you're really on a roll. I'm looking forward to the expansion they're working on - I think DLC for this one will be well worth picking up.

Now I just need to start finishing up some of those other games! *looks at Sam & Max and Dropsy and GK3 and and and.....*

-laughs- And, and, and....wow, I have a frigging mountain of games to go through.

And of course, what goes better with that thought than, "Damn, when's the next sale? Could really go for buying some more stuff..."

OMG, I have had the worst time talking myself out of buying the Oddworld games today. I've played the first one and I hated it, so why in the world would I want them now? "Because they're so cheeeeeeeeeeeeap!" *facepalm*

My backlog is ridiculous, and that's just looking at my digital PC games - I suppose it's one bright side of all of our console games being in storage. -.o I need to just start plowing through the adventure games while I take on maybe one RPG at a time.

Sounds all too familiar. Only in my case, it's frequently been, "That game fucking sucks. I know it's going to suck, and I'm going to hate every minute of it. Oh well, let's buy it for the collection of dog shit! Because that's totally sane, rational behavior!"

My console backlog's on ice since the bastards at Microsoft can't make a console that doesn't die and I refuse to drop 250 dollars on a new one any time soon.

Kicking myself in the ass since I looked to see what the last boss of Doom 2's gimmick was after chewing through the rest of the game, even though it was somewhere between stupid and godsdamned retarded.
Really, Doom guy, you can't lower your gun 6 inches to shoot the glowing weak spot? Not even when it's spewing out monsters to kill you? Now's the time you're going to be bitchy about target elevation? REALLY?!?! So stupid.

Good morning, people of the thread !...
Is it here that we must sign in for the therapy "I buy games even if I probably won't play them, because they're pl*cking cheap" ?
**Big hugs all around with coffee**
I hope everyone is at least ok ? :))

Mm. I refuse to buy anything made by Microsoft, gaming-wise. The only reason I own two Xbox controllers is for the sake of my sanity with certain games on PC; I would've preferred PS controllers, but I ended up deciding that NOT fighting with compatibility would be the way to go. My console backlog consists of Sony and Nintendo stuff, with a few assorted Sega things thrown in for good measure. (Why did I never finish Phantasy Star IV, even though I picked it up at a Kaybee Toys store for $10 on clearance nearly two decades ago? Because I didn't own a Genesis, and the friends that did also loved the game, and we could not manage more than a week at a time without a save slot disaster. If you've never heard "OMFG, bro, I am SO SORRY.... I just accidentally saved over your game!", consider yourself very lucky indeed.)

I've never played any of the Doom games but the first one, and that so long ago that I don't remember any of it but that first base level, which I had memorized. I know I beat it, but that's it. I look forward to slogging through 2 and 3 sometime just for the sake of "I always wanted to play them back in the day but couldn't, for whatever reason." I certainly know better than to expect great things out of them. XD It sounds like Doom 2 went out of its way to be particularly ridiculous, though.

I know what you mean about Microsoft consoles I had a Xbox break on me sad part is I want an Xbox One way more then a PS4 but will most likely get a Wii U at some point.

Good morning, Owl lady. =)

I'll pass on the therapy. Decided on something simpler. Went through my list and cut out whatever didn't adhere to the criteria of personal interest, series completion, historical significance or rarity.

-passes over the last cup of coffee- Need to make more.

Can't complain too much here, hopefully you're having a good day.

Hence why I routinely try to clean out my wishlist. I had it down to 4 at one point now it's up to 12 again...
