HypersomniacLive: I'm pretty tired, and my muscles ache quite a bit. But at least my account still works as should!
Other than that, I'm fairly ok, just had dinner.

How are you and your parents?
I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling too good.

I am doing fine, the same as I have been for the last few weeks. My parents are doing well, thank you. My father is doing well, he is getting better all the time. My mother is now on a regular ward, but they think it will take some time for her to fully recover. She is also having trouble walking properly, but they think it is just a result of her body being weak from all the trauma.
avatar
ddickinson: *snip*
Oh I am sorry to hear about your folks and I sincerely hope that it isn't too serious, all the best to them for a speedy recovery. I hope you're taking care of yourself as well despite the workload as it is really important that you remain healthy so that you return to being yourself sooner rather then later. :)

Indeed, I was also hoping for a mix of titles like the very first batch of Lucasfilm releases but I think that 20+ number may actually change for the better now after the overwhelmingly positive response to these old Star Wars games for GOG.
avatar
adaliabooks: Interesting... wonder where they've got that list from?
And if they've got it, why haven't they announced it officially here?
Yeah, it seems like a press release and I also wonder why they haven't officially announced it here in the official release thread yet and are still keeping it as a surprise of sorts.

CarrionCrow: That's okay. We'll give you a hand picking it up. At least it wasn't a glitter cannon.
That crap NEVER goes away, entirely. You'd pretty much have to burn the lawn to ash and start over.
avatar
ddickinson: I remember reading online about a phase in the US where people were sending glitter trick letters. You open the letter thinking everything is normal, then out pours lots of glitter. Pure evil. :-)
I read part of that as well, only from what I read, the person who started that was already so sick of dealing with glitter that they were actually trying to sell the business.
Sounds silly, but it's funny to think about as well. Some guy walking into work, cursing to themselves about another crappy day filling envelopes with glitter. -laughs-
avatar
CarrionCrow: I hope so. Star Wars is okay, but I'll take Full Throttle, The Dig, Loom and Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade over those any day.
I read about Last Crusade in a game magazine decades ago, for crying out loud. -laughs-
avatar
ddickinson: Hopefully they are saving some Star Wars games for the future phase 3 batch of releases. This way we can get some different games, rather than just constant Star Wars games.
I agree. Not wanting people to not get a chance at something they've wanted for years, just getting impatient for the adventure stuff.
Hopefully the next round will have more of a mix.
avatar
stg83: I am doing well lady ddickinson and I hope everything is fine with you as well. I am right there with you and would really like to see some more classic Lucas Arts adventures but for the time being it seems to a constant barrage of Star Wars titles. The games are selling like hot cakes as well so I guess that is why GOG is prioritizing them over the other classics for now.
avatar
adaliabooks: This is true, you only need to see how quickly they shot up the front page best sellers list to know they are doing well. That and the dozens of topics popping up in the forum.

Hopefully the rest of the games won't be far behind.
That's good to hear, despite my personal preferences. Anything that makes GOG get more business is always good, and if people are going nuts, they could be making enough money for the deal with Disney to be expanded.

Dear gods, is it ever weird to be hoping for such a thing, but I can't give Disney grief about this move.
Seeing GOG mentioned to Star Wars fans who visit the official site, potentially adding crazy amounts of new customers? That's awesome.
And as a bonus, if Disney walks away with boatloads of cash, it might make other publishers get their heads out of their asses so they'll play ball with GOG.

Yeah, just seems odd. Then again, it looks like it might be a LucasFilm / Disney release rather than a GoG one so maybe they weren't told they were allowed to announce them now.

I think you're right though, Disney would be stupid not to see the money to be made by releasing more stuff here seeing how well everything has already done.

Speaking of glitter, at one of the events we were doing we met a guy who rented out snow machines and glitter / confetti cannons and apparently it's £1000 to rent a glitter cannon and the guy just turns up, sits around for a few hours and then presses a button to fire the cannon... Now everytime I see an awards show or something I can't help but think how expensive it must be (and what easy money for the operators) to fire all those cannons at the end of the night....

Edit: Also, just won Lords of Xulima Deluxe Edition from the BBBBOB so I'm chuffed :D

Good evening, Hyper!

I'm sorry to hear you have not been sleeping. How are you today, other than the not sleeping bit?

Any guesses about what the next batch of Lucas Arts games will be? I'm hoping for some of their adventure games.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Sorry to disappoint us all - well, all but gunsynd.

avatar
CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

I'm sorry to hear that...wishing that you could get some sleep at this point, even though you're always a good person to have around for conversation. The sleep thing is ever so slightly more important.

HypersomniacLive: Cheers, let's see how tonight goes. What have you been doing?

avatar
gunsynd: [...]
Some clown just fired off a confetti cannon:-)
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Kids have no respect these days.
Nothing too terribly exciting here. Spent a bit helping out some relatives, switching between Meat Boy and Soulstorm besides that.
I want Soulstorm gone by February so much, but I'll have to play it for another 100 hours this upcoming week to do so.
Yay for really dumb problems! -laughs-

Holy crap...talk about a great racket to get into. Get paid a thousand pounds (assuming I'm reading that symbol right, rather than being totally wrong) to push a button.
And suckers actually pay them that much...that's hilarious.

Sweet, congratulations. =) When you get started, you can scream about it here like I will be when I get back to playing it. -laughs-

Yeah, he said it costs a bit to buy the machines, but if you had some money to invest it seems an good thing to get into.
He did stuff for telly and events and things, but he said the confetti cannons were usually hired by clubs at New Years and things like that... easy money.

It's almost finished downloading, might not start tonight, probably get into it in the morning and I will share my frustrations here :D

Trying to figure out how noise functions work for random map generation.
No where near as interesting as playing new games, but I've been working on it all day and I think I almost have what I need, then I can give in and start again tomorrow ;)
Seriously wishing Soulstorm's windowed mode actually worked.

Probably too much to ask for, considering that despite uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling more than once, every time I load it, it still says that the game wasn't installed properly and to do the whole crappy process all over again.

I had one doing that and had to go to "Library, Tools" in the client and update one, one of the SDK bases iirc.
hey everyone! How are you all doing?

Meh... While I had suspected this because of the wording in the newsletter it is still disappointing... Hope we will see some LA adventures soon.
Far out, my bandwidth is toast but I still have enough juice to hang out in here.
