*Proceeded to the front door dragging my big mystery sack and starts picking the lock. Luckily my father taught me some cool tricks like lock picking. Which earned him a big smack from my mother for teaching his little girl bad habits :-)*

*Opens the door and creeps into Crews bedroom*

*Looks around in amazement at all the Mark Twain memorabilia - the bed covers, the pillow cases, the pictures, the wallpaper, the silky and seductive pyjamas with his face on them draped over a chair, even a cardboard cutout with lots of lipstick marks on it's face.*

Wow, that was a lot of catching up to do...

But I couldn't leave this unanswered:

I have to disagree, Final Fantasy was good (never got into Dragon Quest, I prefer my RPGs a bit more serious) but the real gems were things like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Seiken Densetsu 3, Terranigma, Bahamut Lagoon and probably loads more I'm forgetting or never played.
SNES JRPGs were probably what really sold me on gaming, I'd played a lot of other games before that but when I started playing SNES RPGs I fell in love with gaming and never looked back.
That being said, other than things like Shining Force and Phantasy Star I never really heard of many Sega RPG games so maybe there are more...


And as to the rest of the conversations going on I'll weigh in with regards to Oblivion. I got it because it was really hyped up at the time and was supposed to be so great but it barely ran on my laptop (it was like a flipbook it was so slow). But apart from that I found it so boring. Neither easy or difficult because the enemies scaled with you, so levelling up and getting new equipment just felt pointless (and those are the things I love about RPGs). And then I took on a quest in one of the cities that involved fighting ghosts on a ship without any means of killing the ghosts, so I ended up running away which meant the ghosts migrated to the town and killed most of the inhabitants leaving loads of quests un-finishable or unattainable.
Suffice to say I didn't enjoy it much... (but I spent €40 or €50 on it so I put like 80+ hours into anyway... XD)

Secret of Mana was a great game, along with Chrono Trigger of course. Terranigma, I haven't gotten a chance to get into, I think it's a part of a trilogy of sorts between that, Illusion of Gaia and Soul Blazer. Super Mario RPG's supposed to be really, really good, currently avoiding a Let's Play of it in progress to avoid spoilers, Seiken Densetsu 3 was good, but if I remember right, there was some sort of character class upgrade items that produced random results, I didn't like that, Bahamut Lagoon was good but I never beat it...
Also, Shin Megami Tensei got its start on the Super Nintendo, that's definitely something considering how many games are in that series now.

Oblivion was one of the first games I bought for my 360, but after two years I've still barely touched it. Just could not get past the barrier in place by the writers being massively stuck up their own asses in regards to lore.
Not to mention, after Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, if I never see another Elder Scrolls-type inventory management disaster, it'll be too soon.

Yeah, there are a lot of similarities but they are not from the same series (I always get the two mixed up, both good games though).
Super Mario RPG is brilliant. Absolute quality JRPG with tons of Mario humour, a precursor to the Paper Mario games (of which Thousand Year Door on the Gamecube is the pinnacle)
Seiken Densetsu 3 is one of my favourite games of all time. Yeah, there is a kind of random class upgrade thing for the last class change. You have to get seeds from certain enemies in a certain place and they grow into an item that changes you characters class, but there are two choices and if you care which one you get it involves a LOT of grinding (or luck) to get the right items. But I love grinding so that was never a problem for me. I just love the fact that there are multiple story lines, character choices, multiple classes for the characters. These days that kind of thing is par for the course, but for a SNES game it was great (and to be honest I think it did it better then most modern games)

Bahumut Lagoon is another brilliant game, I loved the Dragons and how they evolved and levelled up. Trying to turn them into the perfect weapon was great (I wish they'd do a modern game with similar ideas, or just have Pokemon borrow some ideas from it)

Oh yeah, one of my memories from Oblivion is having an inventory full of absolute sh*t. Being a RPG kleptomaniac I started off just picking up everything until I found my inventory full of silver spoons and pewter mugs and all sorts of rubbish, and the getting rid of it was a pain. I remember buying one of the houses and going in and immediately messing up the carefully laid out table and being so annoyed that there was no way to fix it...

<sneaks in, checks for cookies, sneaks out>

*Yawns and stretches, looks next to her on pillow sees gift. Screams with delight. Puts on robe, reads note and looks for passport to make up with ddickinson*

*flies to England and looks up what castle ddickinson lives in (cause that's what you all live in)*

*finds address and camps out on front porch, waiting for her to be done in the fields and give her this present*
