HypersomniacLive: So sorry to hear this. Crossing my fingers that the meds will do the trick and things won't come to that, and sending positive thoughts your way.
Thank you very much. He can take all the positive thoughts he can get... and so can I.

Rest well!

CarrionCrow: I'd say history has declared Mario and Zelda the winners as well, given that they're both household names while Alex Kidd is largely forgotten and Sonic is now a bad joke.
Still need to get my hands on some Sega CD stuff, though. Like you said, there are good games for it. (Not to mention the really, really, really bad FMV ones. Have to try those as well.)

For me, Kay-Bee Toys was that one place in the mall where you'd go to browse but pretty much never buy anything since their prices were bad compared to the Toys 'R Us that was five minutes away.
Picked up a beginner's D&D boxed set from that Toys 'R Us, and I still remember that they had Dragonstrike. (The boxed set with a VCR cassette of even more gods-awful yet incredibly funny in its awfulness FMV acting.)

My sympathies regarding the Planescape stuff, as well. Always did find that to be one of the most interesting settings, along with Ravenloft.
Had a mix and match assortment of 2nd edition stuff, all of it lost.
Now picking up the pieces as I can from DriveThruRPG as Wizards of the Coast gradually re-releases .pdf versions of 2nd edition items.

I need to grab a New 3DS as well. Haven't really had a handheld in forever, but I managed to dodge the buyer's remorse of getting a 3DS XL, only to have it replaced by an upgraded item with an intensely uninspired name. (Seriously, Nintendo needs to fire whoever they have naming consoles and handhelds these days.)

Also, I can see why you'd be thrilled. Once upon a time, it was the console war, Sega and Nintendo, both trying to dominate. If you didn't have a lot of money, it was one console or the other, and there was virtually no way anything from one would appear on the other.
Gotta love how history works. SNES RPG's are remembered hugely, and a lot of Sega's stuff is drifting away into total obscurity.

Doesn't bother me, I can talk about video games, console games and P & P games all day as well, doesn't strike me as rambling.
That's how you know you have an appropriate partner. You go on about things, they do the same, and it all balances out. =)

Not a problem, happy to help how I can. =)
For Sega CD, I really do recommend Popful Mail if you can find a copy. It's a Japanese platforming adventure with RPG-ish aspects. It's silly and just fun, as well as difficult without being so hard you want to break it. Then again - can you handle something that doesn't make you want to scream? :) We did have some sort of infiltrate-the-building CD game that I barely remember because it was impossible and might have had some of that bad FMV you like so much. We also had the Batman game for it, which I completely sucked at.

For P&P gaming, I still have the majority of my stuff, but losing all of the Planescape boxes was a big blow. IThey might have done a fair amount of ripping off the Mage: The Ascension tone/mechanics, but god, they were gorgeous and amazing anyway.) On the up side, I do now have stats for Cthulhu for AD&D 1st Ed., thanks to a friend who gifted me the rare Monster Manual some years back. You gain some, you lose some. (Although I might actually cry a little over losing the FASA Star Trek RPG stuff that I had. I had the main box set, the Orions set, and... Romulans, maybe? Rare as heck, expensive as heck, and I'd picked it all up for a song at a local used book store that didn't have a clue. Yet another loss to the moves we made.)

And thank you again for the gift of a very funny adventure game, Bik - A Space Adventure. It's made me giggle a bunch tonight. Sadly, my sinus-infection-or-hopefully-just-bad-allergies-stuffy-head is making it hard for me to concentrate on games anymore. Hopefully I'll feel better in the morning and can get more achievements for things like accidentally blowing myself up. XD

I'm going to see if I can get to sleep, too, since feeling sick just means feeling crappy, and I'd rather sleep as much of that off as possible.

gunsynd: Well if they have tiny otter's in them, then I'm glad they aren't heard of in Australia...
avatar
CarrionCrow: -laughs- No real otter bits to them, fortunately. They're just liquid in little plastic tubes that taste a bit like frozen Kool-Aid.
Just been told we call them Super Dooper and I think that's a name change from when I was a kid...
And I think it's false advertising as there's nothing Super about them..

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll keep it in mind. (Also, believe it or not, I didn't set out to turn my hobby into one long string of torture. That's just how it's going these days. -laughs- )
For some reason, the name Double Switch is coming to mind. Some FMV abomination with Corey Haim in it. -shudders-

I looked at DriveThru and they have at least some of the old Planescape stuff. Course, digital will never replace having all the things in your hands.
I'm sorry to hear that you've had to lose things you value while moving around. Hopefully you'll be able to locate them again at some point.

Glad to hear you're liking the game, and you're quite welcome. If it helped you laugh, then it's a good choice. =)

Have a good night, sleep well when you get there, and hope you're not feeling like crap in the morning.

Super Dooper is an even worse name than Otter Pops, since like you said, they're pretty crap. -laughs-

How modern are you thinking of? I've got games like Borderlands 2, I'm in the last stages of a run for Shadowrun Dragonfall, that came out within the last couple years.

Well, I have Skyrim and both of the newer Fallouts for the 360.

Played Skyrim, got bored and insanely overpowered, didn't finish it.
Played Fallout 3, got bored and insanely overpowered, didn't finish it.
Played New Vegas, got bored, insanely overpowered, but I did finish that one.

Yeah that's the trouble with some of those games, becoming too strong. But at least with Skyrim you could tweak it a lot with mods to make life harder and the game a lot more interesting.
I bought Oblivian and all it done was crash, maybe something broken don't know. When Skyrim came out,I got a pirated version to see if it would work.To my surprise it did so I went and purchased it.Trouble with that game I spent more time into trying mods than actually playing it.And ofcourse using and learning the creation kit..

Talking about retro consoles, it will take me forever to collect for them. I haven't even started, but I'm already feeling the pressure just by looking at the amount of PS1 games out there that interest me. Ridiculous! Ah well, why should I complain? I have a ton of potential games to play.

I don't agree with this. While it is true the games are stupid easy on lower difficulties, whenever I hear someone complaining about the lack of difficulty, I have just one reply to them: Raise the difficulty bar. Go to the maximum if you have to. I tried playing Oblivion on the maximum difficulty level. No..... Unless I am feeling suicidal or something, I'm good with half a bar at normal.

That doesn't surprise me in regards to Skyrim.
It seems like the standard response is "Oh man, unmodded Skyrim has soooooo many problems and annoying things about it, but if you add this mod and that mod and maybe those two or three or five mods, it's great!"
Problem is, I tend to avoid mods. I want to know the developer can make a decent game. They're the ones I'm giving money to after all.

I'm also not surprised that Oblivion didn't work for you. Bethesda does not have a great reputation for quality control.
Evil Within looks interesting, for example, but I'm not going to buy it from a company that puts out really buggy stuff.
(Also, I'm going to be pissed at them and not give them money for the foreseeable future after being disappointed by Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, combined with their refusal to put the original Fallout, Fallout 2 and Tactics back on GOG.)

Yeah, between the PS1 and 2 alone, that's enough to keep a person collecting for a very long time. They have ridiculous amounts of quality games to play.

I tend to keep games at medium, to see if the developer knows how to do a difficulty curve decently. (Well, aside from the games I have that I know are built to be painfully hard from start to finish.)
I want to know who does it right and who doesn't. There are so many games coming out all the time, I have to thin out things somehow.

Yes when Skyrim first came out they had a lot bugs. But over time tweaked with mods it got to be a good game.
DL Fallout 3 to have a bo peep at and see if it's any good I'll go over to Nexus and get some mods to make it harder and more interesting.
My opinion at least Bethesda is a lot better than Ubisoft, and these pricks that don't allow their games come to Gog are just money hunger arseoles.

Pros and cons.
Bethesda is worse in the sense that they'd rather stick with the competitor than put the games back on here.
Ubisoft is worse in the sense that they want even more DRM, to the point of their own garbage client, but they at least play ball with GOG to an extent.
Neither one of them are my favorite company, and I don't buy newer games from either of them.

You have every right to be. I really, really, really don't like Bethesda. You really, really, really don't like Ubisoft.
Nothing wrong with either position, unless we're supposed to argue over which company ultimately sucks the most. -laughs-

I see your point. Lack of time combined with too many releases can definitely cut someone's will to play, but if the lack of difficulty is cutting your enjoyment short, I would advise raising the difficulty bar at least a little, only if it is to get more bang for your buck. I myself used to be one of the people who would play games only on easy, rarely on normal, until one day when I realized I simply don't enjoy easy games. I like challenges. Adventures. Maybe not hardship, but something to challenge me, to give me reason to enjoy the powers I acquire and skills I develop, and since then I've started games only on difficulties beginning with hard, only starting on normal for games I know they may be too painful to play in case I lack the skill and knowledge. Last year I bought Persona 4 Golden for PS Vita. Right from the start I began playing on Hard. I want to say, the game was very punishing in the beginning, but the increased enjoyment I obtained from climbing the power level int he game and becoming almighty was worth the effort. A similar story happened to me with Ys: Memories of Celceta.

In the end I suppose it depends on the amount of time one is wiling to put in a game. There are games that myself as well don't want to put a lot of time in.
