Buzzz!!! Wrong answer!
*cheer up and have a great day hug*

moonshineshadow: And yesterday you wanted to create a character in an hour :P
-laughs- True. Came up with something, it just doesn't feel right for some reason. Tells me my concept isn't good.

Yeah I know what you mean :D I sometimes create a character. The later on delete it again and start new. It has to feel right :-)

I think it's the decker I ran across. Deckers are the openers of doors in Shadowrun, and the one I met didn't feel great. Not a fan of not knowing what's behind every locked door, so I might just make one of my own so I know they'll turn out well.
Good afternoon everyone .

I like this feature of DuckDuckGo .

Sounds like an important character. And of course every door needs to be opened, how else should one explorer everything :D

I'm not liking some of the changes Risen 2 made, but I'm happy about one carryover feature. Just like in the Gothic series and in the first Risen, you can get experience (or as it's called in Risen 2, Glory) if a companion kills an enemy.

Now in Risen 2 companions are immortal, the worst that can happen is they get knocked out until the fight is over, sorta like how Skyrim usually does it.

One of the biggest changes in Risen 2 is that Risen 2 completely turned the combat system on its head compared to the Gothics and Risen 1, by removing enemy patterns and making it nearly impossible to block beasts. So no more blocking non-human enemies, learning the pattern of them and then picking and choosing your spots, it's now a case of "oh man I hope I hit first".

I don't know how long you'll have a companion for in the game, but it seems like it's a extremely regular thing according to a few people. With that in mind, you can skip a large part of the combat by forcing your trust companion to fight enemies will you sprint and dodge roll away. There is no penalty, you still get your "Glory" and you still get to loot the enemy, etc.

Kinda weird to be happy about finding a way to skip the combat in a Piranha Bytes game, but that's what happens when the combat system is overhauled in the worst way possible.

The story and setting is a bit off too. So in less than a year bows and magic are both gone and firearms are not only created, but they're the norm for long ranged attacks? And armor is gone too? Yeahhhh.....not buying it.

Plus the usual Piranha Bytes use of the "the main character has somehow forgotten every single skill he knew, so he's gone from being a walking representation of death all the way back down to getting mauled by small cute animals again" trope.

Right. And since it adheres to the overall RPG logic that you can't just blast through a door, even if you have enough weaponry to level a small city, they need to be good.

Silly person, you answer without answering. ;P

That was quite fun in Lands of Lore. You could smash chests with your weapon. But if you were unlucky you smashed the loot at the same time :D

Wow. That sounds like...shit. Total shit. And I'm pretty sure I own Risen 2. Hooray for me.

That reminds me. Think I saw on Wikipedia that the team who made Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2 went on to do the Lands of Lore series. Might be a good sign for your potential enjoyment of those two titles.
Have heard more than once that it fell apart on Eye of the Beholder 3, but having high-end characters should balance things out a bit.

Hmmm... I am not sure if I really should respond to this....

I never got all these complaints about the combat. I never had a problem with it, I never cared about the changes and I just had fun.

Regarding companions. I only took one with me, if I needed to for a quest. Why would I want to have an NPC have all the fun.

And I liked the story and the setting. Pirates are fun. Bows are overrated as well as magic. Use a sword :P

And the trope is needed, there would be no fun if you would be strong from the beginning. Or you would have to introduce tons of suddenly appearing new monsters to fight, which would make even less sense.

Yes, I liked Risen 2 and I have no problem admitting that.

SAY YOU HATE IT! WE CAN'T HAVE DIFFERENCES OF OPINION EXPRESSED IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE MOST INFANTILE WAY POSSIBLE! SAY ITTTTT!

Sorry. Going to blame the screaming on the caffeine....

Now that Risen 2 has become so controversial, I may have to get it! :p or at least Risen 1.
And a book written by someone called Cat Rambo.
