LaPtiteBete: I didn't see the weekend promo...
I heartly recommend the Blackwell series, Back to the Future, Sam & Max series and Tales of Monkey Island, to all those who love (old) adventure point & click games !!! :-)
Are the Blackwell games really that good? You and Agent are always talking about them but I wanted to reduce my buying of games.

And regarding the Promo, the first two Simon the Sorcerer games are great!

ddickinson: I had avoided Soulstorm so far because of all the bad things I have heard about it, and also because it is hard to find DRM-free.

avatar
LaPtiteBete: Haha, I forgot you also have pigs... :-)
Aren't you snowed under with all your animals to take care of... ?
avatar
ddickinson: I would love some tea. I have a flask of it with me now. :-)

The pigs actually belong to a neighbouring farm, but they are getting a bit too old for it all, so we agreed to look after them if they pay the pigs keep. We used to have lots more animals than we do now (not that we don't still have lots of them :-)) - we used to have animals for slaughter. But this year we are trying to get by on just crops and use what animals we have for renewable things (like milk, eggs, wool, etc.). We still have lot's of animals though, which are very hard work, it's not much different to when we had more for slaughter. The market for meat is getting quite bad recently (no thanks to EU regulations favouring corporate farms over local run farms, and them trying to force stupid regulations on us, but I won't go into that), and so it was getting more and more expensive to keep animals for slaughter. So we decided to try things growing extra winter crops. It's a big gamble, and if it doesn't work out okay this year we will go back to keeping animals for slaughter.

CarrionCrow: -laughs- Funny you mention that. I also own all but three of them, and only one's on my list, and as a low-priority item at that.
But like you said, if someone likes such things but doesn't have a lot, they should be able to clean up pretty well.
avatar
ddickinson: What three don't you own, if you don't mind me asking? I don't own Personal Nightmare, Simon the Sorcerer 3D, and A Golden Wake. They do interest me a little, but not enough to make me buy them. I would probably not end up playing them if I did buy them, so I will wait until I have my backlog completed and then maybe see about them.
-laughs- I don't have A Golden Wake, Simon the Sorcerer 3D or the Feeble Files.
The last of the three is the one still on my list, but given that I own all the rest of the items for sale but haven't gotten into any of them yet, it (and anything else point-and-click unless it's Lucasarts) is low-priority for now.

Good decision. Simon 3D is an awful game.

I've heard that for years.

Course, with twisted masochist logic, that should put it on my "I'll buy it when I run out of garbage, play a boatload of good games and need to be reminded that good games are a blessing compared to some of the crap that's around" list.

Yep, it would definitely fit on that list :D

I am happy that it will be weekend. I think I need some time to relax since my headache is still here and I have I feeling I might get sick. So a nice weekend staying home should help :-)

The setting/storyline of A Golden Wake doesn't really appeal to me, maybe more for Americans? Simon the Sorcerer 3D is just awful, but part of me wants to try it one day for myself. I love the first two games, some of my all time favourites, but Simon 3D is so low on my list that I probably won't ever get it, and I definitely don't want to get gifted it (so no gifting me it, you all have a habit of gifting games I mention, which is awesome, just please not these kind of games). Personal Nightmare does interest me a little, but I still have a few of the older adventure games to play, so I will wait until I see if I can get into the older one properly.

The Feeble Files are quite fun, IMO. The controls are a bit hard to get used to at first, and it is an early 3D game, so it's not perfect, but it's still fun. It was made by the same people who made the first few Simon the Sorcerer games.

I'm so sorry to hear you still have your headache. I hope a weekend of rest will help. *comfort hugs*

I wish I had a weekend off. I usually work Monday to Saturday and get Sunday free. Which was great as it gave me a whole day to spend with my partner and just have some fun or just relax. But sadly I have been working every day recently, and I will be doing for a little while longer yet. But that's okay, I am used to having to put in a lot of work.

Yeah I admit I am quite happy with having a normal job where I just go to work with a fixed timing and have the evenings and the weekends off.
I really hope you will be able to take days off again soon *hug*

The thing is, I still love my job so much, I wouldn't want any other job, even thought it can be hard. It's not what I originally wanted to do, I wanted to follow in my grandmothers footsteps and become a Historian (history is my biggest passion), but circumstances that I won't go into now saw to it that that wasn't possible, so I went to my family trade, farming. And I have loved it ever since. I can't get enough of good hard and honest work.

Just woke up and I'll go take a shower now.
Then I'll finish the LSL series and watch The Road Warrior tonight.
