LaPtiteBete: Morning, DD !! *Hug !*
How are you doing ?
Here, cold and fine...

Hi, CC !!
Didn't you sleep of all night ? Õ__Ô
avatar
CarrionCrow: No, I haven't slept yet. It's about 3 am here, might take a nap when the sun comes up. Or drink more coffee. ;)
Wow. And I complain about my lack of sleep :-D lol
I won't say no to another mug of coffee either :)

I have never been a fan of coffee. I know most people love it, but I can't stand the taste.

I'm used to it.

Good thing you don't mind coffee, since that's pretty much always available here. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 3 am or 2 in the afternoon, there's always coffee.

Hello Hello Hello
Not a bad promo this week, IMO. I own all but three of them, but then I do love point-and-click/adventure games. :-)

CarrionCrow: Good morning. =)

Doing all right here, just put some coffee on, taking a Soulstorm break, and now that you mentioned it, noticing that I've been playing that game all night. If I wasn't certifiable already, that could be used as proof. -laughs-

How's your day going so far?
avatar
ddickinson: My day has not been too bad so far, but it's still early. It's cold and windy, but so far no rain. I was going to host a second Star Wars giveaway in the general thread, but that darn trentonlf (only joking, he is awesome!) beat me to it.

Is that Dawn of War Soulstorm? I have only played up to the Dark Crusade. I love the games, but then I love the whole 40K lore and universe *points to avatar* :-). I don't play Dark Crusade with the latest patch though, as they completely screwed up the balance of the game, making the weak factions weaker (especially the Imperial Guard), and the strong factions (Adeptus Astartes and the Necrons)
Yes, that's what I'm referring to. Didn't mind Dark Crusade, thought the extra abilities gained and the gimmick missions like having to fight through an ork horde on limited resources were good, but that started to feel like a grind.

And in their infinite wisdom, the developers decided to make it all even more of a grind.
Example -
In Dark Crusade, the points you capture on each map are retained after victory.
In Soulstorm, they are not. Aside from garrison units and buildings, you have to run through the whole song and dance of capturing the points one by one every single time.

Also, have been noticing that there are times that the AI kinda goes nuts and forgets what unit caps are supposed to be. Spent 40 minutes trying to fight off waves of Tau that would keep coming from all sides as soon as I'd put one down.

ddickinson: I'm doing fine thank you. It's cold and wet here as well. It was raining during the night and so there is a lot of sloppy mud on the farm, which can make thinks a bit messy. But the pigs sure love it. :-)

I hope you are doing well? *big hug*
Haha, I forgot you also have pigs... :-)
Aren't you snowed under with all your animals to take care of... ?

May I offer you a cup of tea, then ? :-D

-laughs- Funny you mention that. I also own all but three of them, and only one's on my list, and as a low-priority item at that.
But like you said, if someone likes such things but doesn't have a lot, they should be able to clean up pretty well.

Fine,Thankyou Lady Owl:-)

I heartly recommend the Blackwell series, Back to the Future, Sam & Max series and Tales of Monkey Island, to all those who love (old) adventure point & click games !!! :-)

Add to that the Tex Murphy series (keeping in mind that Mean Streets doesn't play well with Windows 8 and Overseer is even crankier, being listed as XP/Vista only), Waxworks and Personal Nightmare (just because they're horror adventure games, a woefully under-represented sub-genre).

Also, if someone wants Tesla Effect but has limited bandwidth, I'd say buy now and download during a month that you've got a surplus, because that game is BIG. (Something like 15.2 gigs if I remember correctly.)

CarrionCrow: ...
I had avoided Soulstorm so far because of all the bad things I have heard about it, and also because it is hard to find DRM-free.

I would love some tea. I have a flask of it with me now. :-)

The pigs actually belong to a neighbouring farm, but they are getting a bit too old for it all, so we agreed to look after them if they pay the pigs keep. We used to have lots more animals than we do now (not that we don't still have lots of them :-)) - we used to have animals for slaughter. But this year we are trying to get by on just crops and use what animals we have for renewable things (like milk, eggs, wool, etc.). We still have lot's of animals though, which are very hard work, it's not much different to when we had more for slaughter. The market for meat is getting quite bad recently (no thanks to EU regulations favouring corporate farms over local run farms, and them trying to force stupid regulations on us, but I won't go into that), and so it was getting more and more expensive to keep animals for slaughter. So we decided to try things growing extra winter crops. It's a big gamble, and if it doesn't work out okay this year we will go back to keeping animals for slaughter.

What three don't you own, if you don't mind me asking? I don't own Personal Nightmare, Simon the Sorcerer 3D, and A Golden Wake. They do interest me a little, but not enough to make me buy them. I would probably not end up playing them if I did buy them, so I will wait until I have my backlog completed and then maybe see about them.

moonshineshadow: Morning everyone :-)
Hope everyone is fine!
and *hug for Hyper to feel better*
avatar
CarrionCrow: Good morning. =)

Can't complain here, hopefully your day is good also.
It is ok, work is a bit stressful at the moment that is much better than it being boring so I am not really complaining about it :D

avatar
LaPtiteBete: Good morning everyone !
How are you Moonshine ?
*Comforting hug* Hyper... I wish this sad day goes by quickly and well...
*welcome hug* I have the feeling I will be getting sick since my head is hurting since yesterday. But hopefully just doing nothing this weekend will help.

avatar
ddickinson: Good morning, everyone!

Hey everyone.

I've never really been a fan of adventure games so there's nothing there for me, but a nice promo nonetheless.

And since Star Wars is still the topic of choice on the site, the latest xkcd is quiet fitting :D
