EndreWhiteMane: Just listened to Bad Love by Guided By Voices, I like the sound but I hope they have pieces with deeper lyrics than that. ;)
Bob's lyrics are generally relatively vague and somewhat gibberish. :) I do love my lo-fi. There's nothing worse to my ear than technically amazing guitar (well, maybe country music). No soul. :)
The classic albums were from the 90s. Perhaps the best thought of are Alien Lanes (one of my faves) and Bee Thousand.
Here's Bee Thousand in full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCH8mX3scB8
Starts off with Hardcore UFO's, not my favorite, but then it's hit after hit. (Of course they've really never had a single hit, but you know...) Buzzards & Dreadful Crows, straight into Tractor Rape Chain, then followed immediately by Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory? Brilliant! :) Echos Myron is my favorite from that album, but it's best when flowing straight from Yours To Keep.

There's an awesome quote about the frontman, Bob Pollard, that I'm thinking about, but can't find exactly. It's in the 1998 documentary Watch Me Jumpstart. Something along the lines of, "He can write 5 songs while sitting on the pot. And two of them are good!" :)

I wish I was better at following things through. Just pulled out an old notebook to jot down some ideas and found loads of ideas for stories, snippets of writing, bits of game mechanics...
I'm determined to actually make something of my current project even though already it has dramatically changed direction from what I was planning.

You are definitely making progress if you have reached the point of 'overhauling the plans' I'm determined to actually make something of my current project even though already it has dramatically changed direction from what I was planning.
I look forward to your creation(s)

You say that, but I'm not so sure... the rough estimate that I've just done suggests that just to save the tile maps (nevermind the other complicated info there will be) might take in the region of 1 - 3Gb... that's per save file... I know memory is pretty cheap these days, but at that rate you'd be looking at a seperate hard drive just to play the game... I look forward to your creation(s)
Some further rethinking and downsizing may be on order...

Thank the gods, I think I'll be done with not one but two sub-par games by the end of the day.
If only all the bad ones went so quickly...
Speaking of which, I'm down to three things I don't want to play, really - a shitty RTS, an RPG that's feeling like trying to headbutt my way through a succession of steel plates, and an actual good RPG that I made a garbage character for.

Perhaps you should stop playing all these awful games and switch to something great :P
There's one primary piece of crap to get rid of, then I'm taking a long break from playing garbage.

So what game do you still need to finish? And on a totally different topic... while I love snow I hate it when it is snowing all night during the week... it took me double the time to get to work today -.-
