But I'll now need to get some sleep, or else I might get problems during my course tomorrow ;-)

Goodnight, Moonshine! Sleep well and pleasant dreams. And good luck with your course tomorrow.

ddickinson: So it's anything that the politicians consider hateful, offensive, or associated with something that is undesirable in Germany.

I guess Germany is only a second thought for games developers, so they probably don't make an effort to cater for the German gamers. A bit like how some developers provide just one version for all of Europe rather than for individual countries, meaning that due to German censorship, many other countries have to suffer the German version. I think the South Park game was like this.

Thank you for all the answers. *thank you hug*
Well but something like isn't restricted generaly to german law. I mean all of Europe has edited episodes of Star Trek Deep Space Nine and The Shield thanks to the BBFC because both Paramount and Sony were to lazy to release individual versions..
But the Swiss and the Austrians suffer from german very often in that matter...

But the interesting thing is that only one developer or publisher has to sue against this legislation. Even the german rating board thinks that a lawsuit has good chances in being successful in that matter...(and they are in favour of a change of laws...)

Does the UK get the edited version? It would be so simple to just give the UK the regular American version, as little would be needed for that. But I can see them being lazy and just giving Europe one version.

Good evening! How are you?

I will go find some of Moon's posts I have not yet +1d. And to think she denies being the gifting leader, I think she has gifted nearly everyone since she got back home. Gifting leader at her best. :-)

Well the UK was responsible for the editing so i assume they also got the edited version and those edits at least in the Deep Space Nine case were riddiculous...

I wonder what they edited out? Star Trek was never something I thought would needed editing. Maybe to shorten the length?

Well iirc someone snapping a person's neck and someone cut's his own hand open for a ritual. Both of these edits are not understandable considering one quite gory death scene from Star Trek The next generation wasn't edited....

I guess it depends on the guy in charge of editing things. Some must have stricter interpretations than others. If anything they should have edited out every scene with Wesley Crusher from The Next Generation. :-)

Gonna hug.And you don't mind a guy that it's in his 20's and still likes cartoons?
And why you must remind me of the worst Star Trek character ever?Wesley sucks.

Very true - he was really annoying...

But that's always the case. It's the same with the ratings in Germany. It's not always understandable...

It never made sense how his character, an annoying youth who has not even been through the academy, yet he seems smarter than Star Fleet research and development and even the lead engineers on the Enterprise. It's a bit like Voyager, where they make the warp drive go at a speed that even Star Fleet researchers were not able to reach yet. Too much was done that made Star Fleet research just seem like a bunch of monkeys, as average engineers were able to accomplish them on the fly without all the research equipment. It lost a lot of its realism, not that the show was really going for realism to begin with.

(Some of that could be wrong, it has been years since I watched them with my brothers while I was growing up.)

Why would I mind someone who enjoys cartoons? It's like games, people like what they like, and as long as they are enjoying it then who cares what they like.

*return hug*

Yes. That true...but i from what i know Wesley Crusher was created to appeal to a younger audience...

Another reason why Voyager is my least favourite Star Trek series although it had some interesting characters :)
