I think I've got it now. =) Ended up there was a setting to fix, but it should be good at this point.
(And yes, I know I have at least one steaming pile on my wishlist. It's bad enough that I'm intrigued. Are you surprised? ;) )
Much better; sadly I've already gifted the couple of ones I could do. We need to have a little chat, me thinks.

I just read the last few bits of the thread and saw your initial post about this. I am so sorry to hear about all the red tape! I sincerely hope your friend gets the treatment they need and that it helps. I can't even imagine how stressful and heartbreaking it must be to have to sit back and wait for something like that. *sending positive thoughts and internet hugs*

This wishlist? Please keep in mind, it's more my "this looks interesting" list. Well... I suppose the top 20 or so are actually "most wanted," but that's about it for prioritizing.

On a different note, which might even make you smile: My husband has been reading the Eragon series, which I have not read. He's almost done with the third book, and decided to rewatch the movie this afternoon. (He'd seen it before reading any of them. I have not read them or watched the movie.) He just paused the movie with a short rant about "If you were going to make a drinking game for this movie, you'd have two choices: Drink for anything they got right, or drink for anything they got wrong. The latter would be the quickest," followed by a sigh and, "Before I can finish this movie, I'm going to have to go have a cigarette. And maybe some drain cleaner."

I'm guessing it's a pretty terrible movie. *g*
Thanks for the wishes and the hugs.

I already have your wishlist, remember? Though I wouldn't call it a wishlist - it's even worse than Crow's GOG wishlist. ;-P
I'm surprised that the rest of the Millennium titles are not higher up.

I've not read any of the books, but I've watched that movie, and let me tell you that even without having read the books it's very flat and utterly uninteresting thing to sit through - it must be one of Irons' most wooden performances ever.

moonshineshadow: I have no steam wishlist, so I can't share it, but let me say that I hope the treatment for your friend will be approved real fast. *hug for Hyper if wanted*
It's ok that you don't have a Steam wishlist, neither do I. :-)

Many thanks for the wishes and the hugs!

LOL! I did forget, although I don't know how. Like I said, there's not really a lot of organization to it. It's a huge pain to move things around on Steam wishlists, even with drag and drop. The Millennium titles aren't at the top mainly because I know my own weaknesses and JRPGs are one of them - I first played Aldorlea games well over a decade ago, so I just keep my eyes open for them in general. :)

From the few bits I've caught while trying to ignore it, it looks like a very uninspired fantasy flick, which is pretty sad, considering what I've heard about the books.

Very tense looking animal, need to get it to relax. :-)

CarrionCrow: Backtracking is a potential problem since you have random encounters to deal with until you exhaust them all, and random encounters can still be fatal.
I like the sound of that (games that "tone down" or cap random encounters when you level beyond them, as opposed to a constant barrage)

avatar
CarrionCrow: Other impressions....there are mini-games for lockpicking and trap disarming, neither of which are obnoxious.
I know some RPG purists might knock me for saying this, but I kind of like skillset minigames. Not to say I don't enjoy a straight percentage to open / disarm "click" and done, but minigames can be a fun change of pace if well implemented. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, it's a good thing. Went back to the first dungeon-type area, wandered for a minute or two to draw the last of the random fights. After it was done, I got a popup saying that the main character could tell that all random enemy packs had been wiped out, and that the party should feel a bit safer about moving around in that area.
Also, I got a fair bit of extra XP above and beyond the per battle amount for doing that.

The minigames can add a good momentary change like you said, so long as they're done decently at the very least.
If they're crap, then it's just adding insult to injury.

You nailed it - utterly uninspired! Amazing how they managed it.

AWWWWWWWWW. He looks gorgeous. And very, very petable. I just want to rub his belly. :)
I kinda wish I could kill the priestess in the first town of this game....
Or maybe not kill, but at the very least pickpocket. She's making a godsdamned mint off of fixing my party's problems.

Also, I'm not sure what people were referring to when they said the movement speed of this game is incredibly slow.
I mean, sure, it is if you have them walking, but as soon as they mentioned the toggle run button, I hit it and haven't looked back.
Main character moves just fine that way.

Wouldn't you know it....I make a comment about how great running is, and what do I find next? A place where running gets me skewered. Go frigging figure. -laughs-

Noticing that the food mechanic is a good way to prevent resting abuse.
It's like right now - half my party dead, out in the field, don't want to go all the way back to town and have to spend money, so I rest for 24 hours instead.
Only thing is, if you run out of food, you can't rest, so you never get to fight/rest/fight/rest/fight/rest endlessly as a way to work the system.

Okay....still playing Lords of Xulima, and I'm seeing the annoying bits to go along with the better stuff.

I've been playing this all day long for the most part, I'm still in the first area, I've gotten killed six times, the urge to save constantly gets strong after you get wiped out repeatedly, and there's a lot of combat.
Also, my characters tend to not be able to hit worth a damn in melee, so my mage is doing some serious heavy lifting when it comes to dealing damage.
(Besides that, I seem to have somehow gotten stuck with the most useless paladin I have ever seen in an RPG. Keeping her dumb ass healed is my cleric's primary job at all times since she takes shots to the face like there's a frigging bullseye tattooed on her forehead.)

I could mention more, but I don't want to spoil the fun (and by fun I mean occasionally infuriating) bits I've dealt with in-depth. I'll just leave those for people to find on their own. =)

I'll make it harder Crow,I don't know if you can see your players stats or not depends on the version. In the stats it tells you exactly how many times any of your characters are killed. The game I'm playing, between other games is to try and get thru without a single death.Try playing it that way and see how you go.Evil person am I not??haha

Might give that a shot somewhere down the line after I finish the standard playthrough. Still working on that, though.
