Stilton: Good here (apart from Moon refusing to be nice to me...)

How was your day?
Glad to hear that - well you shouldn't have changed your avatar ;)

It was good but really exhausting. I had five surveys today over the course of 10 hours...and it was really humid today which resulted in a thunderstorm and massive raining in the afternoon...
Well,I forgotten how bad and stiff the controls of the early Tomb Raider games were.

l0rdtr3k: Hopefully the Ultima bundle will be back. You need those games with you enjoy well designed and written RPGs.
avatar
moonshineshadow: Would not buy such a bundle, need to play 4+5+6 first to see if I like them before I would buy more :D
avatar
Stilton: Moon, you're burying yourself pretty deep here...

Remember one thing: A Viking NEVER forgets!
avatar
moonshineshadow: So what? You think a Valkyrie is afraid of some suspicious Viking just because he remembers some stuff? ;-)
Be kind,stop the fighting.

I get it, you're annoyed because your holiday is over. This is redirected aggression, isn't it. Understandable, because it sounded like you had a nice time, but now its back to normality and you're not coping well with the transition. Unless you've lost the plot somewhere or some marbles are loose...

No need to apologise, I'm with you now ;-)

Ok, that reply, was awesome. I admit defeat for this battle, but don't think this is over yet, I'll come back to this. Like last time ;-)

*big hug for Stilton*

See what I was saying? Nice as pie now. Wait until something bad happens and it'll be 'ATTACK THE STRANGE VIKING' time again.

Hug accepted ;-) Here's a cuddle in return;-)

Yeah cuddles! *even bigger hug*

But since we were on the holiday topic. The holidays were awesome. But after four weeks away from home (because of the conference directly before my holidays) I also can't wait to come home again. And sleep in my wonderful, huge bed again :D

johnnygoging: I liked your interpretation of Ivy, that was spot on, thanks for that.

I disagree with your ideas on Batman, though. No disrespect to Frank Miller or his achievements but people give him too much leeway and weight when it comes to Batman. He might have ushered in a new era but Batman is not the Batman he was in 1986. We've had some significant cultural additions and improvements since then which have made something better. TAS cannot be ignored. Now, I think some people take issue with that because it was a cartoon and therefore ideologically and emotionally neutered, but anyone who watched knows it was no average cartoon and you don't need dirt to make something look rough. I'm fine with grittier spins on Batman but they should take care not to mess with what makes him good and interesting.

If there was a time when Batman would go on like that, about soldiers and the like, I think maybe its relevance has passed now as we have moved on to something better, and at this point it'd only be a step backwards and a layer of cheese.

The disciplined and hardened nature of Batman which is involved with what you're talking about, in my opinion would suffer from being colored olive with a military shtick.
Well the one time the "good soldier" expression was used that sticks most in my mind is during No man's land. That and a couple other times I can't remember. But it's an easy to disagree with viewpoint.

I actually have a middle of the road view on it. He does have a military, drill-sergeant-from-hell discipline. However his attitude and sensibility are most certainly NOT.

Ultimately I think it's mostly a question of semantics. Do I think he's waging a war on crime. Yes absolutely and I believe most people would agree with that thought. But what does this "war" exactly entail? That's where everybody starts shouting their own opinion and no one manages to agree on anything. The thing is, I don't think anyone is really wrong (except Frank Miller post 2001, he is absolutely WRONG in every sense of the word, and possibly insane), they're just interpretations of the character.

Stilton: Typical girl, all friendly and warm one minute, then I have my hair cut and she thinks I'm Bela Lugosi. What can a Viking do?
avatar
moonshineshadow: Hair cut? Looks more like some really heavy cosmetic surgeries on your face :P
*goes to look up who the heck Bela whoever is*
I keep confusing him with someone from Torquay.

I will ignore that part about Mr. Lugosi for everyone's sake.

Kinda sad that I was unable to buy the HoMM and the rest of the Magic and Magic series.

I didn't know it was four weeks, that's a long time. You'll be at your parents' house tonight, right? So tomorrow night you will sleep like a babe in your own bed. That sounds like the perfect ending ;-)

Of course not. But you should be afraid of the bedsheets he provided though.
Uhm...what are the Germans doing against Gibraltar...o.O...

Yep, we arrived at my parents place this afternoon and I'll take a train tomorrow around midday / early afternoon home. And yeah, it was a long tome. One week conference and three weeks holidays. So it is nice to go home again :-)

Oooooh!
Kicking the llanitos' snobby asses?

I hate the bloody llanitos' and their snobbery.
The feeling is mutual though, has been ever since a little fat gaelician had the brilliant idea to lock them away more than 40 years ago.
