EndreWhiteMane: Thanks for all of the answers on RTS's. I own some of those and will give one a try.
Robin Hood actually sounds kinda fun to play. Soulstorm WILL be avoided.
I assume "Real Time Tactics" would be a part of RTS's or do they skip right to the overall strategy part?
As you can tell I never have really deciphered what sets all of them apart from one another. ;)
You odviously seen the latest review by Crow..

Grargar: Since it was ignored in the "Thread of Random Questions" thread, I'd like to try bringing attention to something that's bugging me ever since yesterday. Has anybody noticed that for some strange reason, Pirates of the Caribbean Online is the top wishlisted game of the week? It even gained 70 votes in a day (see attachment below)! Its wishlist feels like you walked into the Twilight Zone. Why are those people expecting GOG to revive a MMO?
Looks like a troll love-in to me. ;)

I'm not sure, but there was a thread on the front page of the forum today or yesterday.. that may have garnered some votes (even just as a joke).

Fun Fact: Pirates of the Caribbean Online was made in Panda3d, which is what I'm currently working in :)
Other than that I know nothing about it...

Good call. =)
Also, now that I think about it, don't buy Dark Crusade either.
Saying Dark Crusade is the best of the series is kinda like saying a certain person is the hottest patient in the combination 3rd degree burns/rampant facial herpes ward.

Additional - just read some of the comments for that wishlist entry, and now I'm not sure whether to laugh, scream or cry.

CarrionCrow: Well, I'd say it's either a bunch of people doing it as a goof, or some people are, well, dim.
Pick whichever option makes you hate humanity less. =)
If they are doing it as a goof, they are quite determined, but not particularly funny (They don't even try making a review like the Jack Keane 2 ones).

So if Dark Crusade is that bad and is the best, did you just say stay away from the Dawn of War series altogether? Or is the first still good for a beginner? You confuse me sir. ;)

FoxySage: Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun and Age of Empires 2 are some of the best RTS games, in my opinion.

tinyE: Good call! I can't believe I forgot those, and I still play them! :O Man, 39 is way too young for senility!

Of course if Lucas Arts lets us have Galactic Battlegrounds we don't need to have this conversation, we just need to play play play!
Mostly mentioned them since Warcraft and Starcraft never appealed to me. Just didn't find them interesting to play. Don't play Red Alert 2 or Age of Empires anymore though. I suck at them now due to my gaming reflexes being slow from all the turn based strategy games i've been playing. :P

I'd say Settlers 3-4 are also good beginner RTSS (Real-Time Slow Strategy) games.

In the end, the first Dawn of War and Dark Crusade are pretty different animals in some key ways.

Dawn of War 1 actually has a story that you'll remember for more than two seconds, and the overall mechanics of the game aren't nearly so run down and stretched paper-thin as they are with Dark Crusade.

I would suggest Dawn of War 1 to play, and if you really, really, really like it a lot, then try Dark Crusade. Otherwise, call it good and move on after the credits hit. =)
I've never played a Warhammer game; they always seemed so overwhelming to me. About the most I can take in terms of numbers is Empire Earth 1 and that's pushing it.

Thanks, I do have those. They look quite enjoyable too. ;)

gunsynd: Hey Crow do a review for them..
I couldn't. I'm not a Disney fan or an MMO fan. Hadn't even heard of their niche MMO until today. (Which probably helps explain why Disney shut it down.)
Only reason I give half a flying crap about Disney being here is for Lucasarts.

Just priced a copy of Galactic Battlegrounds on Amazon. $184.95, not today. :/
