The peace of mind that comes with having all of your debts paid is worth it.
There will be many other sales. :-)

Stilton: Just Witchers 1 and 2. They're going to be a long haul, which is why I left them until last; they can tick over without me waiting for them to finish so I can download something else. Then its a check through the lot to see if anything's missing and I'm pretty much done. I might fish out some extras for my favourite games, but it'll only be a handful if I do. It feels like approaching retirement after forty straight years of service...
Yeah, those are really bad. Hopefully that isn't one you're getting all the extras for. If it is, you get another 10+ gigs to download.

The W's are looking pretty ugly here as well. Witcher 2, Wasteland 2, Wing Commander 4, Wings of Prey, all of them very large titles.
Think I'll just pick out the games that stand out as immediately important. That way I won't give as much of a crap how long the rest of them take.

Agreed. Someone mentioned the idea of me downloading my library every day to keep current with updates since GOG's notifications are pretty broken right now.
I'm laughing at that thought since not only do I not have enough speed to get anything near being able to do that, the tedium of the process would drive me crazy.

Totally. Buying games but having outstanding bills never works.
You'll just end up stressed about the bills and it'll ruin the enjoyment of the games.

EndreWhiteMane: Any opinions on Galactic Assault?
Well, I can provide the same in-depth pre-purchase analysis that I always have to offer.

It looked good, so I bought it. ;)

GhostwriterDoF: <big squishy happy to see you hug>

I'm really trying to get through some of the backlog, and knocking out those games I know I can play through relatively quickly, but it's hard with new releases popping up. I have quite a few "in-play", (installed, started and re-started a few times, waiting for me to get to). heh!

Metro Last Light was interesting, more of a survival shooter adventure, with a touch of (non-scary) horror. The combat action is good, weapons are varied and functional.

You can play it stealthily or go guns blazing. Once the game is finished, it opens up some separate scenarios to play in the world, which I didn't play through but will eventually get to, since I saved the save game files. And... it wasn't overly sexualized like some complaints I've read.

The Story picks up after 2033, and this game makes me want to play that one, though I don't think it necessary to play 2033 first. The story itself is simple, yet reflects the harsh post apocalyptic world the people live in, and I suspect it might have different endings depending on a couple choices we make, so I'll probably play through it again at another time.

You need air filters to survive in outside areas that have limited use time, you can find filters when exploring but the level design is difficult to traverse at times, so if you don't find the filters you will die, The game wants you to explore, to find scattered notes and things like the world's currency, extra ammo and weapons. If you don't explore you will have just enough time on the filters to get through the level. And towards the end, there was a couple battles which I had to figure out specifically how to get through them, which were minor annoyances. Overall, it is a good game.

Saints Row 3 is silly, over the top cartoon-violent and over-sexualized, in bad taste, and ridiculous fun, The combat action is good, the different side missions are varied and the overall story campaign is as over the top as the World that it takes place in.

There is a lot of detail put into the game. Everything is fully voiced, including your character interacting with the world, and not to much cursing, considering all the dialog. I made it through about 90% of the game missions, both endings, and didn't have a problem with any of the vehicles using a controller. ;D
Hey, Ghost, thanks a lot for this very interesting and complete review !!!
**Big thank you happy hug**
I'm really temptedd by Metro... the only thing that still makes me hesitate is that it needs you to explore the world to find filters, as you said ; I have a very bad sense of direction, in games as much as in real life... :-) ... I figure that we don't have much time to study a map in this kind of kicking-asses games... !
I bought Saints Row 2 & 3 ; haven't tried them yet... I wondered if they were very different from GTA (San Andreas)... :-)
Thanks again for your awesome and very useful reply !! \o/ +1 +1 +1 +1

GhostwriterDoF: Kingdom Rush is a gem of a game. The music is really good, adds to the gameplay. The action and level design is good, balanced, challenging yet fair, and the artwork and animations are charming.

If you get a chance, install it and take a test run just to see for yourself. I really like the game, and it was a ninja gift from Moonshineshadow too (thanks again!)! :D
Started playing that last night and it's enjoyable. I'm usually crap at tower defense-type games, but it looks like they put some effort into making it fun and providing different options with the star-based upgrade system and the heroes you can choose from.
I have to get in my one complaint for the day and then I'll stop:
This chat system is about the most worthless piece of shit I've ever seen!
There, I'm done now. :/

I love how I find at least one awesome display of kindness almost immediately, every time I sit down and open this thread to catch up a bit. +1 to you! :)

Sarge and I are putting in lots of extra training today. After my endoscopy and a couple sicker-than-usual days, he seemed to be feeling a bit needy for attention, and I don't think he's been able to get out the energy he needs to in order to get rid of the cranky. We're having an absolutely awesome day today though. He is mesmerized by Animal Collective on the speakers and we're having a blast training and playing.

Enjoy your day, all!
Hey guys so what you bought today?
Argh! Why PC parts manufacturers give these maddening names to its boards and pieces? Motherboards are the worst offenders.
Since the start of this year I'm looking into parts to build a PC for myself and I can't make a final decision on what to choose.

ElTerprise: Hello *big hug*
How are you doing?
I doing very well, indeed.
Hopefully you are not too over-tasked in your multi-tasking... :)

I have some squash that needs cooking, thawing some chicken breasts and trying to decide on weather to make a pasta dish or make a spicy dish over rice.

XxXSprayvWarXxX: .... Hey Ghost what's up?
Hello XxXSpray. :)

Just trying to keep up with the posts in the Forum, and particularly this Thread.
Browsing some of the games in the sale too, and generally relaxing at the moment.

Just hang in there, after awhile you'll get better known in the Forum, and your jokes will
be better recognized too, as jokes. It takes awhile for people to get an idea of who is who
and what they are really about...

I'd go with the rice dish, that'd be yummy with squash. :-)

Stilton: Hi Ghost, glad all is good with you ;-)

How's the writing going? I haven't read/heard anything for a while. Being a sometime scribe myself I know these things can be personal, so if you cough and change the subject I'll understand ;-)

What do you think of Kingdom Rush? I've got it but haven't tried it yet. (I've given you a possible bail out there...;-))

GhostwriterDoF: Greetings Stilton! Glad to hear you are doing well, and I hope that you (and the doctors) can figure out and resolve whatever is ailing your daughter as quickly as possible. ;)

There are quite a few of us who have small and great works, in-the-works. heh!
The writing is coming alone just fine, yet it is slow going, as there is a lot of work to do. Right now I'm working out travel distances and timelines as the Party gets separated in the beginning of the story, and will end up at a specific location within a couple days of each other, after a long and perilous journey...

I don't mind talking about the books, but there is a lot I can't say, which is easy enough to side-step, just don't want to bore my fellow GoGlodytes with the mundane details of crossing Ts and dotting Is... heh!

Kingdom Rush is a gem of a game. The music is really good, adds to the gameplay. The action and level design is good, balanced, challenging yet fair, and the artwork and animations are charming.

We've done some of our own investigations into what might be causing the vertigo while we wait for the doctor's appointment, but until we get professional advice it really amounts to little more than guesswork. Its quite debilitating at times because of the sensation of spinning and not being able to balance. Hopefully on Wednesday we'll feel more in control and able to do something about it.

I doubt very much you would bore me by talking about your project(s) as I find the whole process very appealing. What strikes me is the different ways in which we work. You are content to let the story evolve through planning and gradual gestation, where I have a more explosive short-burst approach where the goal is to produce as much as possible in the shortest time. The idea of working on a story for more than a month or six weeks depresses me and removes the spark of life that intense keyboard tapping produces. Horses for courses, as they say.

Thanks for the thumbnail impression of Kingdom Rush. It sounds like what I want so I'll be installing it in a couple of minutes to see for myself ;-)

*agreeing hug* and on my phone it is totally useless if more than one person writes, since it does only load the newest one :-( and I am still missing my messages from owl. I want PMs back.

And thanks for answering my question but beware, perhaps your lawn will now be invaded and you need to go back guarding it :P
