gunsynd: Water never boils when you watch it:-)

CarrionCrow: Course it does. It's time perception. Everything feels slower because you're focusing on it.

Pull up a seat sometime, stare at a wall with no distractions, then count to a thousand.
It's only 16 minutes 40 seconds, which sounds small, but when you do it that way, it'll drive you up a wall and you'll probably stop well before ever reaching the final number.
Yes,I know try not to get too serious.

akhliber: Good morning, folks! I hope all are doing well! Up a bit early with Sarge so I can tire him out before an upper GI endoscopy I've got scheduled later in the day. A very minor procedure, but I'll be given anesthesia, which almost always results in a few straight days of mania, for some odd reason. Should be interesting. :)

I hope all are enjoying the sale!
Good morning. =)

A procedure that requires anaesthesia seems serious. Maybe that's because I don't have much experience with it.
Regardless, will hope that everything goes well.
Interesting reaction, also. Haven't heard of those chemicals causing mania before.

Worst case scenario, you can sit up at night staring at the timer. -laughs-

for me it would be the moment when I think, "Oh, where was I? Was it 497 or 487? Oh, what does it matter! Dammit I give up!" :D

Just an exploratory camera to investigate my stomach parts. No cutting or removal of parts or anything like that. :)
And it's apparently a pretty uncommon reaction... we're actually trying a new anesthesia today, as my GI doc is very curious about whether I'll have the same response (waking up early, manic and euphoric for days following.) It may end up meaning I finally get this shelving for my records built, as I always seem to find myself on "missions" to get stuff done after having anesthesia. At least I've finally learned not to let myself play with any electronics after a procedure (after a leg surgery a little over a year ago, I came home and immediately started removing the power supply from my PC. It had to be done, and right then! Looking back, I've no clue why... I eventually just had to figure out how to put it back in.) ;)

Good morning to you!

Good luck for later (I've had one of those myself and it was over and done with pretty quickly).

Lets hope the mania isn't the buying kind; could be dangerous at sale time ;-)

I hadn't given that much thought, but let's hope you're right! Not sure I've had a procedure line up with a GOG sale before... I'll have to tell my wife to keep a close eye on our bank statement this week. ;)

Hmm. Do you ever get the manic urges without the anaesthetic, if you don't mind my asking?

I don't mind at all, and yes, I do. I've got issues with schizophrenia and mania that my docs believe is the result of a head injury I had in my teens that caused damage to my right temporal lobe. The mania is usually pretty random and just comes on when it does, but general anesthesia is one of the few things that seems to affect it / trigger it directly. Pretty neat.

ddickinson: That's and impressive haul. I was just counting the number of games I had gifted. It's surprising how that number builds up. I won't say just how many, but it's a lot :-). Have you unlocked all the free games yet?
avatar
CarrionCrow: Yes, I did so yesterday. Round 3 put me well over the required amount.

Found someone to give Xenonauts to, finally found someone who was wanting Wasteland 1 so I got that code out before it expired, now I have Sim City and STALKER left.

That's an impressive haul indeed! I grabbed a good few titles from my wishlist last night... not that I need more games to play at the moment, but I can't seem to curb the need to collect games I'm excited about regardless. So long as I can continue to tell myself, "there will be time, one day." ;)

Interesting. The drug interacts with the damaged area and gets switched around so the residue doesn't knock you out, but amps you up instead.

Makes my own mania look garden variety by comparison. -laughs- =)

I know the feeling. They'll all get played eventually, so why not add on more? ;)
Hey, I've finished peeing!

By which I mean I've finished downloading the 'P' titled games in my collection.

Next I have to start queueing. I don't like queueing...

Once you're through R, S and T, you're pretty much home free, aside from W.
Witcher 1 and 2 take a while...

Just a little over an hour to go... awesome :-)

Good luck with the procedure, akhliber! Hope the new anesthesia treats you well!

It's odd and fascinating. But then, I find mania in general to be the same. I have trouble seeing it as a problem, as I just get to feel invincible and hyper-aware... perhaps not with as much clarity as I think I have in those times, though, and my wife will often remind me that it's not exactly "fun for all involved," as I am often fairly obnoxious.
I can't imagine life would be half as interesting without the mania though.

I've found I get super excited about finding new *short* games to fall in love with, as I can more easily convince myself I'll fit it into my to-play list sooner, rather than later. It's amusing to be as excited to see a game I can finish in one sitting as I used to be to find an RPG I could sink 100 hours into. :)
