Stilton: Here's something we're no doubt all familiar with...

I've spent the last few days downloading my game collection since GOG split them up like a glass paperweight shattering off an intruder's cranium. And its turned into a marathon of patience over suicidal urges while wondering why download rates are sooooo damn ssssllllloooooowwwwww. I could've learned to program and make my own game in the time its taken to clear just half way. Well, you know what I mean. But this makes watching paint dry look as zany-fast as the Keystone Cops.
It's funny that you decided to do that, and yes, that is an extremely apt description of the sheer joy (hate) and enjoyment (misery) that comes with having a lightning fast (slower than a quadruple amputee turtle on heroin) internet connection.
The speed (slog) with which the task is completed (settle in to wait some amount of time between weeks and go fuck yourself, it's never finishing, EVER) really brightens one's spirits (hate everything so much).

We must've been related in a past life, with the same schizophrenic tendencies and belief that life could be a lot better if the people who had a chance to make it so had something more useful than cow crap for brains.

That's a lofty hope right there. I've managed to rebound from the feeling that 99.9999 percent of humanity has cow shit for brains to a comparatively downright optimistic 95 to 97 percent. ;)
Hey everyone.

Been enjoying Shadowrun, can't believe it's been sitting there since Insomnia and I put off playing it... especially for Halfway.. :/

Already planning out my character for Dragonfall (assuming they don't throw in some more new and interesting skills in that that I might prefer).

I see there's a sale on :)
Only picked up Spacechem so far, because it was £0.69 and well, why the hell not for that price? It would only get spent on a bar of chocolate or a bag of carrots otherwise...
Can't say I'm that involved with this one, I've got loads of great games to play already and it doesn't have the fun gimmicks of insomnia (having to spend loads of money for free games I don't really want isn't that appealing)

How's everyone else?

Hey there. =)

From what I remember, the base stats for Dragonfall are still pretty much identical.

Also picked up Spacechem, it looks interesting, and like you said it's dirt cheap, so even if it sucks, it's not exactly a huge investment.

Yes, the forecast is calling for a severe lack of zazz, unfortunately.
When you're used to debating things like whether to sleep, eat, or use the bathroom versus hanging on to grab the next game before everyone else tries to, this is pretty glacial.

Can't complain here, up a few games so far, killing time until the next switch 165 minutes from now. (Not that I'm counting...)

How've you been doing?

That may be said in jest (possibly), but I think its pretty accurate.

A case in point being last week when I sent my mother a typewriter because she wants to do some writing and her handwriting isn't what it used to be (she's in her eighties).

I selected a courier service, paid the fee, packed the typewriter and it was collected.

But it didn't arrive. Several days later it still hadn't arrived.

Feeling the slow realization that I had been dumped on creeping up my spine I looked online (foolishly after I had trusted them with my property) to discover that scores of others had been dumped on too, by this same crowd of vaguely humanoid entities (I won't dignify or legitimise them by calling them people), whose delivery technique in an alarming number of cases is to (a) leave the item on a doorstep without knocking on the door, regardless of the time of day or night, (b) hide it in an unsuitable place (plain sight of passers by is a common one) or (c) throw it over a hedge into the recipients' front garden (unbelievable, but true). They then sign for it themselves with a scrawl to 'prove' they have done their job properly and that's it.

They go by the name of Yodel, so if anyone in the UK wants to pay good money to throw their property away pointlessly they're the right humanoid entities for the job.

95-97 percent might even be a tad optimistic.

It's too much to hope for that the business is currently being sued out of existence, isn't it.

Did the typewriter just vanish out of reality because the imbeciles couldn't be bothered to do their godsdamned jobs?

That's good, while new options might be nice I think by the time I'm done with this one I'll have decided what I want to go with for the next one (I'm thinking either Decker / Shaman or Mage / Rigger at the moment. Probably the first as I've kind of veered off into a mage with this character)

It has good reviews and I seem to remember people comparing Sokobond (and I enjoyed that) to it when that came out, so might as well give it a try.

Unfortunately for GoG I think I'm much more willing to spend money when they throw something interesting at us rather than a straight up sale (I'm clearly very easily swayed by cheap gimmicks...)

Of course not ;)

I'm fine. Had a hell of a few weeks with work (and a concert in the middle) but it's done and things are quieter now. It's taken a day just to remember what it's like to have time off... XD
But it was worth while so I'm not complaining :)

Good evening. I'm ok - how are you?
How was Halfway in the end - i only played a bit of it so far and stopped it for no apparent reason...
How's everyone this afternoon? Came back from a nice bike ride :)
A handy tip boys and girls, for finding game specific forums that defy finding:
(Since the search on the game specific forums is once again borked)

Go to a games page and copy the url.

Change the word 'game' in the url to 'forum'.

Hit enter, cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Very busy, stalled completely and ticking along very slowly, in that order ;)

Long time indeed :)
I haven't been around much for a while, busy with work and stuff but I don't remember seeing you on here for awhile either. How are things?

Fine thank you :)
Can't say how it is in the end... I haven't gotten there yet. The whole game is a bit samey and I kind of dropped it when I hit a huge difficulty spike which I couldn't quite surmount. Plus Tom had gifted me SW Rebellion and I played quite a bit of that (and Crow gave me Jedi Knight, and I played a bit of that too) and I haven't been bothered to get back to it... I'll probably do so eventually, as I would like to know how the story ends (which is undoubtedly the most interesting thing about the game)

My feeling is they either 'delivered' it by one of the above methods and someone picked it up, or one of their tremendously conscientious delivery entities liked the size/weight of the parcel and decided it could be profitable.

And as far as I know, it unfortunately is too much to hope for that they're being shat on from a great height. Their time will come, and at least in the meantime their turd-like behaviour is preventing them from letting even more people down, via word of mouth and online forum.

Lets settle at 98-99 percent. Agreed?

I haven't had too bad experiences with them in the past, but have heard a lot of the horror stories. They do Amazon's deliveries these days (and have for a few years) and are apparently pretty awful. That being said, I've not heard much better of most other couriers either... :/

Things in general are good. A variety of ups, lesser ups and moderate (but recoverable) downs. Overall I've got enough to feel happy about. I'm glad the business is keeping you occupied - hopefully you're growing (as a company - not physically) and finding more places to sell/money to make.
