ddickinson: I have more than enough games as it is. I can always get the ones on my wishlist during another sale.
FearfulSymmetry: Or another. ;) Stilton: And then more studies? Or a world cruise and lots of relaxation... It sounds to me like you're going to have a very successful career ;-)
FearfulSymmetry: Yep, more studies. I'm planning on doing a two-year master program to become a teacher. :P Well, hopefully everything will work out well! :) EndreWhiteMane

CarrionCrow: Well, sometimes enemies will spawn in when your troops are in a really bad position, and there's no way of foreseeing that.
If you're exposed and they pop out, there's a fair chance you're going to get your ass shot off before you can get to cover.
Beyond that, there were times that my troops would keep missing what seemed like perfect shots. That got old.
Thanks. I looked around a bit and there seem to be a number of mods that address things like that. If you're exposed and they pop out, there's a fair chance you're going to get your ass shot off before you can get to cover.

I guess at this price I can't get hurt too badly, even if on a 'rental' basis.

And what exactly makes a farm girl any less of a lady? I will have you know I am a perfect lady. I would be interested to hear what your definition of a lady is? :-)

Well, I'm a bit old-fashioned, so shoving boots up people's arses is not among a lady's traits. ;-P And what exactly makes a farm girl any less of a lady? I will have you know I am a perfect lady. I would be interested to hear what your definition of a lady is? :-)

Okay. But if I don't get a list of game buy tomorrow, I will just randomly pick something from your GOGwiki. :-)
You want to buy tomorrow? I don't see it on the front page. ;-P Okay. But if I don't get a list of game buy tomorrow, I will just randomly pick something from your GOGwiki. :-)
On a more serious note - that kind of sounds like blackmail; my GOGWiki page is not up to date, you're running the risk of getting something that I got in the meantime, and then you will be all over me for not accepting it and whatnot. So, don't do that.
And I can't keep up with you peeps.

Stilton: A few days ago the hospital sent a letter telling us the appointment had been shunted back from July 27 to September 17. Then it became Viking time and I made a firm but polite phonecall (I was feeling unmovable at the time) and it was put forward to July 30, so only a loss of three days from the original date. I've no idea how they make these choices, but nearly two months extra to wait was completely unacceptable.
I'm glad things are good with you ;-)
HypersomniacLive: My jaw dropped when I read that "from July 27 to September 17". Good that you got that sorted out. I also have no idea how hospitals make such decisions, seen it many times, and it looks like it's a universal plague. I'm glad things are good with you ;-)

Yes, that is completely insane, especially for such a serious matter. It's really incredible how these things are apparently becoming normal. I think you were right not to accept it.

FearfulSymmetry: Haha, I suppose. Though I definitely also chose to study this subject because I really like the English language and literature. ;)
I have to agree with you there. English literature is amazingly broad and deep, provided you like English history and culture. And the language can be razor sharp when used properly. It makes me despair a little when I hear the dumbed down slang that too many people intentionally use because its fashionable. I know language isn't a static thing and it evolves, but sometimes that evolution can result in less than what went before.HypersomniacLive: Well, I'm a bit old-fashioned, so shoving boots up people's arses is not among a lady's traits. ;-P

Perhaps it is for people of your generation, but I think DD may not be such a good influence on you. ;-P
It's indeed crazy. I often wonder if they'd be so lax if it were their loved ones. I fully support the way you handled it, people's lives should be valued more.

Yes, I've learned many very interesting things. I'm especially interested in Middle and Old English and older literature. Yes, I can imagine that. While my casual language use isnt very formal, I don't like some of those slang words either. Still, as you have said, language is indeed not static and sometimes we just can't stop things. For instance, while English only has 'the', Dutch has two such words: 'de' and 'het'. However, what we're seeing currently is that 'de' is becoming the more commonly used word, even in cases where 'het' would be the gramatically correct one. It's possible that within as little as a hundred years we'll have lost 'het' altogether. While I can understand that development from a linguistic point of view (languages have a tendency to become simpler, and in itself this is often a good thing), part of me really abhors the change because it's just not right. :P
Yep, she probably has a very bad influence. ;) Don't worry, I haven't kicked many people in the groin or anything like that.
