j0ekerr: And then it'll only last 4 months.

Although my 2TB still has some space left after almost 3 years. And I don't delete ANYTHING (but I really should).
Well, with the stuff I need to back up, it ends up being less than 1.25 terabytes, so I think 3 would work well enough.
Worst case scenario, I give it a few years, then buy another one.

adaliabooks: Hey everyone, long time no speak!
Been a hell of a busy few days here, not done yet but the worst of it is over.
Have I missed anything?

Incidentally, I don't think I've ever been so proud to be Irish. :D
You know nobody (except for the usual suspects) made much of a fuss when that law was passed here. And this coming from a country that has been traditionally even MORE catholic than yours.

However it was an enforced religion. Once it wasn't compulsory, a lot of people punted the church. In Ireland you're religious by choice, or peer presure.

Soccorro: which party?
Whichever gets me a +4 chaos blade of agony inflicting.

CarrionCrow: Last year's sale started on the 13th, this year that falls on a Saturday so it might start on the 12th.
Hoping it starts sooner, so they can get a jump on any competition running their own sale.
I got my dates wrong, I thought it was in July.

watching some celebrity deathmatch, still awesome and hilarious

Still wishing Aeon Flux was being actively produced.
It'd have to be on a different channel, though. MTV would just screw it up now.

Well, you never know exactly what day it's going to start until it's already in progress.
Hoping they don't wait that long, though. I'd like to see what the sale has to offer before I end up spending my money on something else.

I would settle for them airing the old animation block and liquid television again.

Agreed. It'd be a reason to watch that channel again.
Put on Aeon Flux, put on Liquid Television, Celebrity Deathmatch, Beavis and Butthead, The Maxx, things that are actually good.

The Maxx was one of those things important to my development growing up. Taught me useful things on the nature of reality and adults.

It's definitely a personal favorite.

This might be of interest to you. I noticed a while back that MTV had streams of old shows buried in the guts of their site, but then everything went down, errors, nothing working.
Just loaded it up again and it seems to have finally been fixed.

Had pretty much all the old stuff on a media drive but yeah that is pretty rad and all the younguns here should fire up that link

If my experience at school was anything to go by, it was more religion by laziness than by choice or peer pressure. People were just Catholic because that was easy, didn't require you to think about things or have an opinion that differed from the rest of the herd...

I'm impressed with Ireland though, it would be hard to imagine a referendum like that not succeeding in any developed western country (well, maybe some American states.. :/) but considering our background there was a chance it could have failed and it's nice to know Ireland's throwing off the shackles of Catholicism.
The other good thing about these things is that they bring the loonies who oppose them out of the woodwork so you can avoid them more easily, like this guy, who quite frankly sounds like he should be hung, drawn and quartered...

I also had it stored at one point. Lost the data, though.
Looks like Amazon has both the Maxx and Aeon Flux in full on DVD.
Liquid Television is harder to come by, unsurprisingly.

Would recommend Maxx to anyone looking for something good and different.
Also reminded yet again that I need to read the original comic series.
Due to the Duggars I feel 100% justified in labeling anyone who crusades against GLBTQ rights in the name of protecting children, is in fact actually fucking said children.
Both the silent and the talkie episodes of Aeon Flux?

Read what you linked to, and I can feel their idiocy attempting to infect me, like pond scum being rubbed all over my brain.

And yes, you'd be right. The key word in what you said regarding countries is "developed", and there are many places in this fucked up country that are anything but.
One of the few bits of solace I can cling to regarding that is that the indoctrination effect will eventually be diminished as the imbecilic hatemongers are gradually phased out of existence by the passage of time and the inevitability of death.

My thought it that anyone who's clinging to their particular bit of madness so utterly is hiding from themselves, laboring under pathetic delusion as a way to blind themselves, rather than viewing the world and their own thoughts in reality.

According to the Amazon entry, the set contains both the original set of Liquid TV-shown Aeon Flux shorts as well as the ones in the later dedicated series.
Linking to it here.

Yup, I know exactly what you mean.

That's very true, hopefully all it might take is another 100 years or so and most of the really extreme morons will be long dead and gone along with their ideologies.
