Yes, that game is very hard.
Also, after you beat the first 3 levels, the 3 levels that are so much harder are unlocked.

Additional - Icewind Dale EE is utterly broken when it comes to roleplaying an evil party.

I was given the option to either help liberate slaves, or kill their leader.
I killed their leader.
The questgiver then says to get the remaining slaves to either give up, or kill them too.
They refuse to go back, so I kill them all.
My reputation goes from 10 to 1.
The prices in town are now ten times their standard cost because my reputation is so low.
The pieces of shit at the temple will raise my rep by one point if I give them several thousand gold.
I'll essentially have to mod a way to sell my characters' organs to pay for rep increases.
So now I get to reload an old save, since evil parties really aren't doable.

I can't even do the first one, I managed 43 seconds on a fluke.

And the hardest setting? I get crushed after 7 seconds.
