I haven't really read the books, but I believe that even though the games take great liberties with the lore, the attack on Kaer Modahn is actually canon. And yes, they've lost most of their know-how.

Both the front page and my account seem to work okay, maybe it's just the American servers. Also, I do not think there is a release today, but I could be mistaken, I am not really up to date with new releases and things like that. I guess we could be getting a later release today, but as technically the Witcher 3 was released today, I would think that is todays game.

I am not too sure about that. While it's true that many people will be getting Witcher, there are also many more who won't, and who were looking forward to another new game. Perhaps they did not want anything competing with Witcher and taking away possible sales?

It is probably just a result of the amount of US customers that will be accessing GOG for the game, hopefully after that dies down the site will return to normal for you all.

Don't know if they mention it in the games, but some years before the events of the first novel their was a pogrom - sorcerers and citizens storming Kaer Morhan, killing the few old witchers that were not travelling and destroying/stealing most of the valuables. The old onces that were killed were the once with the knowledge that is lost now.

Sorry for invading this thread with The Witcher, but I've started reading the novels and think it's awesome. Will play the games later then :D

But that is not quite true, you have to make sure to buy a game that is compatible with your console. For example, PS4 games won't work on the PS3 due to it having a lower spec. Is this so different from PC gaming? The only real difference is that with consoles you only have to look for the console sticker, with PC games you need to check the different specs yourself.
