'Tis a night to remember, indeed :P

EndreWhiteMane: Cool! (not!) All of the forum searches have gone away and the Witcher 3 isn't listed in the game specific forums yet.
No wonder the forums are a mad house. :/
They are? Not really noticing it from here. ;)

I occasionally venture out just to test my bravery. :-)

PaterAlf: Have to admit that I'm not so much into freeware games any more (I mainly played freeware games from 2003-2011), so I don't have a complete overview any longer.

But if you tell me which genres you are interested in, I might have some recommendations from back then.

l0rdtr3k: RTS and RPGs.
Both genres are not really the typical freeware genres (guess these games are quite hard to create), but here are some games that I've enjoyed. RPGs might not be the type of RPG you are looking for though.

Real Time Strategy:
Bos Wars
Warzone 2100
Glest
MegaGlest
Evolution RTS (still in development)
Attack of the Paper Zombies
Widelands

RPGs:
Exit Fate
Last Scenario
Guardian of Paradise
The Desolate Room
The Spirit Engine
The Spirit Engine 2

Every time I do that, I end up reading something that tries to give me a headache.
Not worth it.

l0rdtr3k: I envy the people who are playing Witcher 3 right now.
I'm mad and sad at the same time for being unable to afford a good PC or a next gen console.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Could be worse. I need to spend a couple thousand dollars on an electrician just to make sure my house doesn't literally burst into flames trying to run a heavy duty computer or console.
rofl damn bro
I will go to bed. Wonder if there will still be non-Witcher-3-threads on page 1 of the general forum when I get up again in some hours.

Good night!

So... I'm currently at my grandparents' house in northern California. We live just a little north of San Diego - that's about a 12-hour drive.

Found out Friday morning that my uncle passed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon. He and my aunt were planning on moving this week while they looked for a home away from Sacramento, where they'd lived for over twenty years. We drove up to her house on Saturday and spent a lot of time hanging around just being there, along with a bunch of cousins, children, the grandparents, and other aunts and uncles. We still don't know what happened, and it may be months before we know for sure. We suspect it was suicide, but if it was, it really came out of nowhere. (Which I know it didn't, really, but no one can look back and see any signs beyond moving stress.)

At this point, we're with the grandparents for a few days to cat-sit for my aunt's cat, since she'll be staying with them for a while but can't make it up for a few days. The final walkthrough for their house is tomorrow, as they sold it two months ago, and then my aunt will be heading north to live with her parents for a bit.

We'll be staying in the area until the end of the week to visit other family members as well, but... we were planning on being up here again in July.

I wish we'd been able to keep to that schedule. :/

(I just had to spit this all out somewhere. Thanks for listening. :)

Thanks. It's been tough, but at least it let me appreciate my family all over again. They're a pretty wonderful group of people. :)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Suicide (if that is what it was) can leave so many questions. I saw my fair share of suicide attempts when I worked at an abuse centre, and sadly a few successful attempts as well. But I won't go into them here, especially as some where children. It is really shocking though, to walk in and find a child who has killed herself, especially at nine years old - I can't even imagine what was going through that poor girls mind.

But anyway, I am sorry about that. I hope you will all be okay and able to cope with the loss, losing a relative is always terrible. My PM is always open for you if you need to talk, and I am sure the thread would not mind you talking here about it if you need some support. My deepest condolences for you and your family.

*big comforting hug*
