ddickinson: It was the first that came up, and I was too busy (and lazy) to bother picking different versions. :-)
I'll forgive you but only because of BRIAN BLESSED!!!

The multiple exclamation points after his name are a must.

Meanwhile I think this is the greatest Shakespearian play ever.

ddickinson: Nothing for me this week. I own the two Stronghold games, and the others do not really appeal to me.
Yeah...well i have to see if i really want the two remaining items....generally CK would be must-buy but i'm not sure if i already own the drm-free verison of it on GamersGate (or if they switched with a steam key....)

ddickinson: Hello, Tom!

How are things today, are you and your family doing good?

*big hug*
Last day at home, saw the doctor this morning. I still feel a little swamped, probably an after effect of the antibiotics. Family is fine, except for my wife not sleeping well... She a had a job interview a few days ago and it didn't go well, and it's coming back to her every time she tries to calm down (i.e. trying to sleep).

How are you?

Good to hear that you're improving and that your family is fine. I hope your wife can loose the memory of that interview soon :)

Good afternoon!

My apologies for going offline earlier after asking how you were. I am at the mercy of the weather today if I want to get some extra jobs done.

I hope you manage okay when you go back to work, hopefully you are over the worse of it. I am so sorry to hear that your wife did not get the job, it can be so hard getting turned down for multiple interviews. I hope her luck will change and that she will find a job that is just perfect for her. And hopefully she will be able to get some sleep, it's not nice being tired when you have so much to do, I know that from these last few weeks of long days.

I am good, thank you. Tired and exhausted, and yesterday has left me a little drained, but other than that I am good. Definitely not anything I can complain about.

*big strong hug*

No need to apologize... Work has priority after all. Or partner time. Or even game time, if you can get it ;-)

The problem with the interview was that it was a double - there was another applicant at the same time and she was extremely extroverted and noisy, basically preventing my wife (who is rather calm and modest) getting a chance to speak. It was just a really unfavourable situation. I don't think further interviews will be this bad, and since she has been invited in the first place, I see it as an encouragement that her skills are needed and the application credentials are good.

I am not quite sure game time for me would be more important than responding to someone, good manners would dictate that I actually pay attention to the real person, not some game that I can play anytime. I think the order for me would be partner > work > games. :-)

I can see why that would be an uncomfortable interview. I will keep my fingers crossed that the next interview will go a lot better, hopefully that will be the last interview :-). And of course, the fact she was asked for an interview is great, it means that people are definitely seeing some of the potential.

Are you looking forward to going back to work?

Well, if your game time is really limited, priorities shift ;-). Of course I try to respond to people in a timely fashion, but the forum doesn't run away, so I don't feel pressed. And the other way around I don't think bad about people replying only the next day because they have the chance to do something they like right now.

Yes and no :-) On the one hand doing something productive again will be good, on the other hand the prospect of the mountain of work waiting for me is a little intimidating...

I agree, I do not think bad of someone for not responding straight away, the nice thing about the forum is that people can take their time and do other things, the forum is not going anywhere (I hope). People put different priorities into things, so just because I think one way does not mean others do, and nor should they. The would would be pretty dull if we were all the same.

That's kind of how I feel on a Monday after enjoying my Sunday off. :-)

I try to keep Monday full of lighter tasks, usually the paperwork and other things, so as to ease myself back in to work. It's not always that possible, as there are things that need doing that can not be prospered. Hopefully it will not be too hard for you to settle back into work and get that mountain of work defeated. Perhaps a flamethrower would help deal with that mountain of work. :-)
Good morning, Good day, and Good Week’s beginning to everyone.

I hope you are all doing well, as best as you can be, and even doing better than expected.

All is well here, though I kept off the internet for a couple days, just for a little unplugged break, to get in some game time and work on my works. I’ve also got a lot of cooking to do later today so I won’t have to cook for the next few days.

on a side note:

Though I’m not sure who might have an aversion to “Friend-ing”, or possibly an aversion to me but, if I send you a Friend invite, and you don’t want to accept, don’t feel bad to reject it outright.
and..

<ruffles everyone’s hair and feathers playfully>
Happy Monday everyone.

Hooooolllllly shite, Crusader Kings is on sale at a good discount today. I'm tempted to get it... but is it a good introduction to grand strategy?

*serves Monday lattes with 2 shots of espresso in each one*

Also, to make up for the Song of the Day being absent yesterday, how about 2 songs today? :D

--Conversational FFA Thread Songs of the Day--

The Beatles - I Want to Hold Your Hand

And now, a number by Jackson Browne....

Somebody's Baby
Hello again everyone *big hugs and waves*

Hello.
Concerning Crusader Kings. It depends on what xou want from a grand strategy game as Crusader Kings is mostly about dynasty management. You don't as a state of nation - you play as a family. If you enjoy managing marriages, assassinations, dealing with rebellious vassals etc...that might be a fun game. But don't expect an easy. None of the Paradox Games are really easy although the newer ones have tutorials.
Can't say anymore specific about this because i only little of it but i spent about 450 hours with the sequel.
