Some of the crap getting shoved into the EE version of Icewind 1 makes no frigging sense.

I should not be finding katanas and wakizashis in the far north. It's really annoying and disjointed, and it smacks of "we thought this would be cool, so let's shove everything in at once, whether it can be explained in the context of the game world or not".
How is everyone tonight?

Good evening. =)

Doing all right, playing a game while listening to a podcast and enjoying some coffee.

How's your evening going?

Thank you, kind Moon. I hope you are feeling better, and that you are enjoying your trip. Look forward to hearing about it if you get internet access.

Good morning / evening everyone
Hope you are all well(ish) and recovering from whatever ailed you. I had connection issues yesterday, but it turned out to be me, not them, for a change.
Finally, after hours of messing with it, I ran a Winsock fix tool and that fixed the problem. What a waste of time. :-(

Hi Sage, it's morning here, just after 5am, and all is well.

Sharing coffee with Crow. :-)

Good morning. =)

Sorry to hear that you had net problems. Those are truly some of the most obnoxious of all computer-related pains in the ass.

Aside from all that garbage, how are you doing?

Hi to you. Doing well here, thank you.
How's the meanest sob in Icewind? Not a game I've played, and after reading your reports, it's not a game I'd even try. I might run into your party on my first venture out, and that would be that. ;-)

Just cursing GOG because I can't save my games list as a text file any more, not even if its in list mode. I always used to keep a txt file for easy checking of what games I had, even when I was offline, but now they won't let me copy the script. I wish they would think of stuff like this when they are making changes, not wait for people to complain about it.

I know I can save the pages, but that's slow to load, whereas the text file was so quick and easy. :-(

A strange GOG phenomenon - after I post a new post, I am returned to the very bottom of the last page of this thread. If I edit a post, I bounce up to the top of the page after posting.

What fun. ;-)

Just slogging my way through the enhanced edition of it.
From an enjoyment perspective, playing the same game twice almost back to back isn't the greatest idea.
But on the plus side, the original is still fresh in my mind so any differences are more noticeable.
And since I tend to complain here, other people can see and decide whether or not they think getting the enhanced version or the original is a better idea.

Also, your party wouldn't have to worry about mine. Getting through the first full dungeon if you've never played one of the games before will be challenging enough.
(One bonus to the enhanced version - the .pdf manual is 355 pages. They cover every single concept that's presented.)

Hmm, I didn't even know that was possible previously. Maybe it'll get revamped, since I'm sure GOG's going to keep working on the account stuff. Willing to bet it's still very much a work in progress.

That's odd. For a bit my posts weren't showing until I changed the post per page setting.
Glitches abound right now, since pretty much everything is being worked on.

So you got to spend some of your day off wrestling with a broken down car.
Nice of you to do, also sounds like a pain.

I don't mind, right now I'm playing Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition while listening to the Super Best Friendcast.

Also, no need to apologize. I've lost count of how many times I've been talking with people here in the middle of the night, only to suddenly go narcoleptic, fall asleep at my desk and not type again for 2-6 hours.

I have my post setting at 50, seems to be working well.

I'm sure there will be a lot of changes for Galaxy and the library and message settings before they are finally done, if they ever are. Hope they will sort out the messaging system as well.

355 pages? Not a chance in hell I'd make it through a manual like that, it would be worse than a dungeon for me. ADD does not go well with reading long manuals. ;-)

But of course one can always get help from you, the expert in game suffering. <evil grin>

As for me, I'll stick to games that I enjoy!

Editing to say I must go, a lot to do this Monday morning, before the heat sets in....

Enjoy your evening until sleep overtakes you.

Bye Sage, sleep well.

-laughs- I haven't read it from beginning to end. It's just useful to have when I forget a certain bit of information and need a mental refresher.
And yes, if a person doesn't mind my complaining, I can usually give advice about how to get killed less often.

I've been trying to do the whole "play good games" thing also. Still a few bits of trash to chew through, but there aren't many left, thankfully.

Have a good day, try to stay cool, talk with you later on. =)

I'm reminded of the manuals that came with the spectrum and amstrad machines, which I never read more than a few pages at a time. However legend says that those who actually read the whole thing became the mythical power users.

30-something pages at the end were dedicated to BASIC programming examples.

I did the Breakout clone one.

And good morning to you fellas.
