ElTerprise: Same here....on cacti can survive me....xD
Yeah, and my cactus mostly survives because I've left it behind at my mother's house and she occasionally remembers to water it.

HypersomniacLive: (...)
BTW: Missed that earlier: Great Pictures :)

Haha, that's handy. I don't have any plants at my own home except for a mint plant I share with my housemates, and those are pretty much indestructible.

moonshineshadow: I tried different plants, but they only ones that were able to survive were hydro plants (don't know if that is the correct English term, I mean ones not planted in earth but this round little stones, which are standing in water).
All the other plants always die either because of too much or too less water, I never get it right.
*gardening noob* :D

HypersomniacLive: Ah, the watering challenge. Here's a little empirical trick: stick your index finger into the pot about 3-4cm deep, pull it out after a couple of seconds; if dirt is stuck on your finger tip, it's not time yet to water that plant, if your finger comes out clean, your plant is thirsty. ;-)
I'll try that after my holidays when I buy a new plant :D Thanks :-)

FearfulSymmetry: You've just reminded me that my cactus needs watering ... I've had this plant for more than ten years and it's the only one that hasn't immediately died on me. I think it's grown used to abuse. It once survived in a closed box without water and light for over a month.
*picks up jaw from floor*

OK, that's plain cruel. Why on earth did you put it in a closed box, and for such a long time on top?

Cacti are very resilient plants, and don't ask for much, just the infrequent watering and a spot in the sun. I've got one that blooms. Here's a shot from last year, but it's ready to bloom within the next few days.

Cheers, the English term is "have green fingers", but I'm familiar with the German one.

Believe it or not, it is 25yrs old. It did not bloom for a number of years that we all thought it doesn't. It took everyone by surprise the first time it did; hasn't stopped since.

Do you mean to say that you don't have any plants right now? :(

Didn't know that but i assumed that the english term was similar to the german one...
Wow that's impressive - i think i read that before that cacti are able to do that...

No plants at the moment. Like I said, I am very bad with them. The last one died two weeks ago and since I knew I would be gone for four weeks I did not buy new ones yet.

That's sad. Feel free to ping me if you ever need a hand.

OK, I think I'm going to retire and get some rest. Might be back later, but if I'm not - have a nice rest of evening/ night, everyone; will see you tomorrow at some point.
