toxicTom: Wife in bed, but it's fucking loud outside. In Germany today is "Men's day" a holiday. An excuse for (mostly masculine) people to "party" and getting dead drunk.
Oh yeah - i had the 'pleasure' to meet some of those this morning and they were really hammered already...

gunsynd: It is Friday:-)
avatar
ElTerprise: Hello. Still one hour to go for me and then it's friday here as well :)

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Pretty tired, back's the same, argh! Taking my meds, and hoping for the best.
avatar
ElTerprise: That's not good...
Howdy well,it must be Friday now..

ddickinson: Does the noise go on until the early hours of the morning? Also, you continentals sure have some strange holidays. :-)
Probably yes. And actually it's the the German version of Father's day and "Feast of Ascension" combined. Although the people celebrating it the hardest are neither fathers nor are they ascending in any way - on the contrary.

tinyE: Far out. I thought the States had a monopoly on making up stupid holidays in order to get shitfaced on weekday. :D
Give the Germans enough occasions to get drunk, and there won't be any revolution...

Will the noise keep your kids awake, or can they sleep through it?

When I went for beer for our RPG session I also met some guys... Standing there with reddened, sweaty faces and a posture like Micheal Jackson defeating gravity in Smooth Criminal and not being able to utter a single word straightly... They were buying a crate of beer and a handful of schnapps... O_o

The kids are sound asleep, fortunately. They would even sleep past New Year's Eve, but we have started to keep at least the big one awake until midnight. The little one doesn't notice a thing though, no matter how bad the war rages outside :-)

HypersomniacLive:
I've been doing pretty well! I've got another round of tests lined up at the mayo clinic (more fascinating science!) and have been enjoying the hell out of my time with Sarge. He'll spazz out and then nap, then spazz out again. A bit like my own manic/nap cycle. :)
I hope you've been well yourself!

I took the laundry out about that time and from the nearby pub it sounded like people had a "good time" already too...
Lots of bad music and loud cheering, from the trucks there I think they had a Jägermeister promo going. At 10 am...

I am glad that it won't disturb your kids too much. I guess that is one of the nice things about living in a nice rural area, I don't get bothered by drunks.

So how are you, are you feeling all better now? How is work, still keeping you busy?

Yeah something like that has to be expected at Father's Day....

Goodnight, sleep well!

ddickinson: Hello, Hyper! *half hug*

How are you today, is your back any better?
I'm quite tired, I gave my feedback on the Chat system, in hope that some of this will reach the right eyes and ears.

My back's stubbornly refusing to get better, and ElTerprise yelling at it didn't seem to do a thing. Will see how it is in the morning. But I see that your shoulder's not better either. Perhaps we should get my back and your shoulder to hang out together. ;-P

avatar
ElTerprise: I can try. Oi! Back! give up!...don't know if that will help...
So visiting the doctor might really become inevitable...

[...]
Hmmm... I think I heard ironic laughter coming from my back...

It's not the visit to the doctor's so much, as the increasing chance of having to take the injections treatment.

moonshineshadow: Yep, looking forward to the conference, hopefully many interesting and useful presentations and discussions :-)

And no, after these holidays I'll only have a few days left, which I'll need for the days between Christmas and New Year.
Hope the conference will deliver. :-)

It's a very long time till Christmas. Are there at least any public holidays between now and then?
