ElTerprise: Well at least i understood it ;)...thankfully dutch (or flemish) and german are related languages :)
But i assume that german is not that common in belgium outside the germnan community...
Well, one of many problems in Belgium is the following:

we have a french-speaking part, a dutch-speaking part and a german-speaking part. France and Germany lie right next to our puny country.

And none of these people are particulary interested in mastering each other's languages XD

EndreWhiteMane: Morning all, doing OK here other than a giant headache.
Looks like everyone is OK also, except DD and her poor shoulder.

Downloading all of my recent purchases, mainly the Star Wars/Trek stuff.
My those files are big.
Moin Endre,
sorry to hear that you're having a headache.

Are they?
BTW: I noticed that i actually have to read the manual to play the Stra Trek games...apparently the didn't know about tutorials back then ;)

Hmm...Kingdom Rush.... that's a Tower Defense game, right? Calling out 'victory' after that is understandable :)
Yes, Kingdom Rush is a really good Tower Defense game, some fun details in the animations, and the music is good too, but the gameplay is challenging. After the first seven or so levels, the last two being a good challenge, you get end game credits and then it opens up to a bunch more levels, all of which require a lot of thought and quite a few tries to get through. heh!

Moonshadow gifted it to me, and ever since I installed it I've been playing it quite a bit. :)

on a side note...

I picked up the Darksiders series (couldn't resist the 75% off) once I learned the games don't have Quick Time events, and they look great graphics wise, plus I'm impressed by the gameplay of both games so far. It's like God of War without the stress and strain... :P

That sounds interesting indeed - although i'm not too much into Tower Defense (But i liked Defender's Quest).
Yeah I'm still thinking on what to get from the new games because i'm tempted to get the Darksiders games too but i also think of getting the Saints Row games.....argh....decisions..;)
But no QTE is good :)

EndreWhiteMane: No, I didn't take anything, it's just the cold rainy weather I think.
Is your shoulder any better or will Owl have to talk to your partner again? ;)

ddickinson: So how come when I say I am taking nothing, everyone gives me a hard time, but when you say it it's fine? :-)

My shoulder is quite painful at the moment, which is not helped with the fact that I need it for work and I keep using it and it's also raining and there is a very cold wind.
Being Stubborn doesn't help either -.-
Apparently there is this unspoken rule that there has to be a story behind art or music. Just got a mail from an educated friend who says that the music I sent him is fine, but lacks story or a "purpose".

Personaly I don't go looking for a story or some weird artistic drive or anything. If the music is fine, than that's a fulfilled purpose of its own (for me at least), and I mean to convey feelings from moment to moment with what I write more than some abstract point to strive for throughout the entire piece.

That kind of makes for an incoherent first impression, but I try to take care of making sure that at certain times the music conveys one feeling or drive in relation to a previous (or previously unmentioned) one.

I aim for intertwined mood swings throughout my pieces, which I try to sustain as good as possible with my meagre composing skills, mostly against a set background mood.

Does this strike anyone here as an unnacceptable viewpoint for an artist?

Not stubborn, the only thing that would help are sinus pills.
I'm not allowed to take those so I just wait it out. :(

Good morning. :)

Sounds like a rough day for you, and I'm sure those of us who are concerned for your, and Endre's and anyone else among us who is struggling with ills, would like to do something, if anything can be done other than sending you good and healing wishes. Pestering you to not suffer is just a reminder that they, we, care. :D

Good morning!

You are right, this thread is full of some very sweet and caring people. While I may joke about people being overly worried and always pressing me to see a doctor about things, I do still appreciate the kindness and concern.

When it comes to expressing yourself through art, you can never really know what to expect from others who react and interpret your work, even when you attempt to lead them to conclusions. It's nice when you get praise and adulation, or even jeers for what you create, depending on what you are aiming for in a "reaction". The worst thing that can happen is people are unmoved, or have no reaction to your work, methinks.

Thanks for the insight :)

I don't really aim to publish anything I write. It's mostly meant as bagage for myself, and some way for me to get rid of unwanted stress.

I'm going to bid you all goodbye for today now ;)

I hope everyone present has a fine day, and best wishes to you all!!

*deal out many, many hugs, gently. put some of that salve that glows so warmly on DD's arm*

and of course,

*give endre a forehead massage in my envirosuit*

Back to the germs for me!

Many of us in gaming communities are artists, in different ways and many forms, with and without intent or dreams to publish our works. After all, gaming can be stressful at times, even testing our fun versus frustration levels. heh!

You may not want to publish, but you can always share your works with people here, if you'd like to get feedback on some of your stuff. :)

and Good day then... too.

... they come and they go all the while...
