Good Morning and Nights for all!

What happened :) I haven't checked out the Galaxy Thing.
Things seem to be changing around here.
Well.
If they ever start leaving the drm-free camp, I'm gonna spread my shopping elsewhere.
But so far things are fine.
Even got a mostly-Steam-only PC gamer, who is actually mostly a console gamer, to visit GOG yesterday... He bought Witcher 1-2 and seems to be enjoying the Witcher 1 EE... Way to go bro! :p
I'm actually a bit tired of all sorts of games at the moment. Thinking of reading poetry a bit.
But still gonna visit here, and keep playing Fantasy General. Lovely game!

Arkaea: My problem is I play games and never finish, it takes me going back two or three times to finish a game sometimes.
Well I started a game in 1997 and completed it for the first time this year... :)

Good morning. =)

Yeah, the addition of DRM is not only most people's breaking point, but GOG knows full well that if they did that, they'd be finished.
I still remember the video they made expressing that during the regional pricing fighting, when people were thinking that GOG would be adding DRM on then.

Additional - Holy frigging crap. I've been playing Icewind 2, and my dead cat mascot squad now stands at a glorious five, but now there's a dialogue option where I'm presented with the idea of offering one of my cats as a peace offering to some demon jackass.

There is no way in hell I'm doing that.

Hi everyone, thought it was time I came by to say hello, lest I be mistaken for a friend flyby.

avatar
toxicTom: Hello all! *hugs and waves*

Tonight, I have a little favour to ask. I've created my first wishlist entry here. If you can agree with it, please vote, and also tell your friends, since I sadly don't have the time to promote it properly here in the community.
Absolutely signed. Impossible to write anything in that ridiculously small little box. IM was never my scene anyway.

And I hate that you still can't hide your 'online' status, or what games you are playing in Galaxy. Haven't actually played any games thru Galaxy, but have read comments about what people are playing, and for how long, and people interrupting you via chat when you're playing.

Not fun. Online privacy, that's supposed to be our right?

Rant over. :-) I hope you are all well - haven't had time to read all the posts, just noticed Tom's because of all the replies.

Oh, one more thing. I don't want to downrep the friends flyby's, but I'd like to be able to hide all those posts. It would make the thread a lot easier to navigate.

Not looking forward to another hot day, yesterday was horrible. 33.5C - 92F and the summer has barely started. Big overheated sigh.

Enjoy your day / evening.

"They'll never get my cats!"
Icewinds are starting to sound interesting :) I have the first one.
Hi again, for those who could afford Witcher 3, there's a good review here.

Hi ZenWan!
You must go to shade, stand absolutely still, breath slowly, pour ice cold water over your head! :p
I remember when lived for a while in South East Asia, the Air-Conditioned Shops were a big thing.
Just wandering around not really needing anything, but it was so cooool :)

Hi superstande, I really envy your climate right now. They don't really go in for airconditioning here, the stores and restaurants just keep the doors open or use fans. Worst is when there is a nasty hot wind blowing, like yesterday, even being in the shade doesn't help you.

Pouring ice water over the head? hmm...
I think I'd prefer some rain, but that won't come for many many many months.

sigh

Yeah, that's about it. Can't be the Cult of the Undead Cat with no dead cats around.
That'd just be weird.

Also? Amazingly enough? I just found my sixth cat. I now have 60 pounds of kinda shedding, kinda rotting feline goodness in my party's backpacks, and no one in the party has to fight about who doesn't get to have one.
I now have dead cats for every person. =)

Don't think you have to worry about that, you've engaged in enough conversation here that no one is going to think you're some random person posting for friend requests.

It throws me a bit that people are doing that, but at the same time, it's kinda funny.
Someone posts here so a friend can see it, but then their posts get ground under in the tens of thousands of posts that continue to accumulate in this thread.

My thought for the time being would be to wait and see what gets added in Galaxy as far as privacy options are concerned.
It doesn't bother me if someone on my friend list suddenly has a desire to see what I'm playing.
Worst thing they can do is mock my choice of games, and there is no one who can mock me more so than I mock and ridicule myself as I play garbage. -laughs-

Wow, your temperature is worse than here. Kinda surprising since barren desert is pretty much the last thing that comes to mind when looking at the pictures you've been kind enough to post.

Hi Crow, good to see you. I am indeed holding fire on Galaxy, as it's still in its infancy. I have so little time for game-playing anyway. But I do prefer to have a privacy option.
Imagine if I spent all day every day playing - say - a game involving pigeons - how would I ever dare show my face here again?

laughing!

Yes, the summers here are scarily hot, although at least not humid. Most vegetation is Mediterranean, olives, carobs etc, so is not affected by the heat and dryness, but I most certainly am. Sometimes there is a cool breeze from the Atlantic, other times the hot winds blow in from Africa, or overland from Spain, and that's not pleasant. I'm seriously considering that icewater option of superstande's.

Glad you're keeping your cats, I'm sure you're greatly attached to them by now. ;-)

Oops, editing again - didn't read the last few posts properly, too busy multitasking.

CarrionCrow: The way it sounds, everyone's going to have a reason to head off somewhere else but me. -laughs-

I don't find anything especially useful about PM's versus chat (well, aside from the chat actually working and not sending me messages five hours after a person sends something to me), a client doesn't bother me since I can tell it to fuck off and use the site without it, I never used manual sorting, I never saw the old library setup as a virtual box collection but rather a laggy pain in the ass, I like that my library loads properly every time I check it now, I don't care that my library and wishlist look different, the forum doesn't bother me since I'm already fully aware that just about every place on the internet has maybe a 100 to 1 ratio of people I'd happily hit in the head with something versus those I wouldn't want to do that to, and I'm still saving money by the fistful buying games that I actually feel like I own rather than rent that actually work properly whether they're old or not since the company actually cares about not selling people broken products.
You've basically echoed a lot of my thoughts. So.... that. ^^ :D

Editing to say - 'your dead cats' as I think that superstande didn't realise that you had some extra special mascots on your game journey.
Wouldn't worry about it, since I'm pretty sure I've clenched the title of "person senseless enough to play something no matter how horrible".
I have the game you mentioned, and more than a few that are also awful, and they all get a playthrough.
Hooray.

The privacy stuff will get built in, I'm sure. I accept friend requests only from people I know, so that helps.
The other thing that comes to mind is public wishlists, but mine's been public for quite a while now, so that's not a big thing.
What's going to happen, someone's going to see my list and say, "Wow, that person has a problem!"
My response would be, "No shit, genius. If you think that's bad, you should see the order history that chronicles the compulsion."

Yes, ice water sounds like a good idea. Maybe a wading pool in your house near the air conditioner, with an extra fan plugged in on the side.

penumbren: You've basically echoed a lot of my thoughts. So.... that. ^^ :D
It's been fun playing the "don't get into fights with every headache-inducing thread you see" game.
One of those times where I'm kind of amazed I don't drink more often.

Also, this game is idiotic.
I have to find literal tears of suffering.
I'm surrounded by slaves toiling in misery.
My party is absurdly well armed and amoral on the side of extreme sadism.
So where the hell is my punch random person in the face until they cry option? It probably wouldn't take more than one shot, assuming I didn't kill the person outright.

Not to mention, this introduces a level of hair splitting the game designers didn't account for.

I have to find a specific person, because apparently their suffering is worse than everyone else's.
But what if I set a random worker on fire, put them out with a spell that freezes them to the point of frostbite, then start chewing off their now rotting extremities while shoving a dead cat in their face and telling them they only get healed if the cat meows, and every time the person says the cat is dead, I stick a dagger in their eyeball?

I imagine they'd fit the criteria of suffering pretty godsdamned quickly.
