toxicTom: Hello all! *hugs and waves*

Tonight, I have a little favour to ask. I've created my first wishlist entry here. If you can agree with it, please vote, and also tell your friends, since I sadly don't have the time to promote it properly here in the community.
Evening, Tom! *hug*
Voted. Will write a comment and try to promote it as well, because I am very passionate about this one (more than any other game or feature.)

Thank you! I see it the same way. Live chat is a nice addition but I can't see myself writing the same "wall of text"s. "Message" and "Chat" are just not the same thing.
With all the other changes I can have hope that they will be fixed in due time. Those are more superficial, cosmetic problems... And can be resolved by adding skins and sort-options. But going from a message system (long, thought out texts, and email-notifications) to an IM system for zapping a few lines back and forth is a fundamental change.

I agree with you.
In the meantime writing your message in notepad and pasting it in when it's ready works fairly well.

As far as the email notifications I think they expect every one of us to have Galaxy installed and running at all times to get our notices.

Rather than fighting GOG's plan™ I have decided just to spend less time here. GOG has moved on, I will stay on in this thread (until they bork this too) but will also do more of my DRM free shopping elsewhere.
I just thought of GOG when the implemented signatures.

What did that last, 10 minutes? :P

Don't remember that.

I'm afraid I've found myself doing the same... I'll stay on the thread as long as GOG lets me, but ... I dunno, I am liking GOG quite a bit less right now... I already plan on buying my next game from another site :-/

Oh yeah... If that comes back, I will assume the world has finally ended, and will proceed to lie on the ground and happily wait for a nuclear bomb to land on me.
(I hate signatures.)

What I see happening is all of the 'new' people that are being attracted turning pirate and ruining the whole 'honor system' thing for everyone.
The next step after that is not pretty.
The 'optional' Galaxy is already only optional if you want to do without features here.
And mostly, other than this thread, the site just isn't fun anymore.

If you blinked you missed it. XD I was somewhat new and didn't see the big deal but the forum went ballistic.

Hm. I agree that it is just not fun anymore :-/
I would have quit this place about 6 months ago if it weren't for this thread and the Sale Tracker threads before it. With the PM system gone, and the feeling that I am starting to lose control of my library, this thread is really the only thing that keeps me. I hope it lasts, because I really do love it. A few minutes in here can make me smile all day long.

Duck and cover, close your eyes, and hope for the best. It's the American way! :-)
Here are my (possibly incomplete) thoughts on the new account system that I have sent to Support, for what it's worth:

Ever since I first joined GOG.com I've purchased..... way more products than I originally intended, and even did forum giveaways, sometimes for no real reason. I've supported GOG a lot more than any other games retailer. (And that's pretty much an understatement, as I *rarely* ever buy anything on Steam, and I've gradually slowed down my purchases on sites like Humble and Bundlestars) And despite the mostly negative direction you guys have gone on, (region locking/pricing, broken site redesign, f$#&ed up unbundling, and so forth) I still kept buying games from you anyway.

The reason? Your site was a more special place than any other retailer. Collecting games on GOG was cool, even though the majority of my games have been unplayed for some time. I always felt a bit of satisfaction looking at the sweet game boxes on my shelf. It was cool indeed. (That combined with DRM free of course)

But now with the new shelf redesign... the magic just isn't there anymore. My shelf now looks about as lifeless as my Steam collection. It's lost that appeal that kept me coming back for more. With the removal of the old (and I should say nice) game boxes, collecting games and viewing my collection isn't as satisfying. Combine that with the removal of manual sorting, and I begin to think we were better off with the old account system, as the new one isn't an improvement in this regard.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on this matter, and I think you guys should at least consider implementing the old game boxes and bringing back manual sorting. (There are ways you could improve manual sorting too!) I realize we can't have the old account system, even as an option, but why not bring back some of its features that we really liked, if it's possible? (And something tells me that it would indeed be possible)
The way it sounds, everyone's going to have a reason to head off somewhere else but me. -laughs-

I don't find anything especially useful about PM's versus chat (well, aside from the chat actually working and not sending me messages five hours after a person sends something to me), a client doesn't bother me since I can tell it to fuck off and use the site without it, I never used manual sorting, I never saw the old library setup as a virtual box collection but rather a laggy pain in the ass, I like that my library loads properly every time I check it now, I don't care that my library and wishlist look different, the forum doesn't bother me since I'm already fully aware that just about every place on the internet has maybe a 100 to 1 ratio of people I'd happily hit in the head with something versus those I wouldn't want to do that to, and I'm still saving money by the fistful buying games that I actually feel like I own rather than rent that actually work properly whether they're old or not since the company actually cares about not selling people broken products.

well I'm not really abandoning GOG yet. Can't argue with you either, sometimes the old library was pretty laggy... I still miss those boxes though :(

I was also hoping that GOG was going to improve on manual sorting with the new account system. Instead they removed it, and that move doesn't sit very well with me.
