Oh great, a good friend of mine (and there aren't many) has totally succumbed to racism now, partly thanks to her new potential lover and his friends.
With 37 years of age you'd think people won't be influenced so much anymore.
She said it's about time for a new "cleaning" from all this gipsy, jew and whatnot "filth" and named a half-black female contact of mine "Bimbolina".

I honestly don't know what to say, I ranted a bit at her, but my disappointment goes way deeper.

Sounds like she's willing to fall in line with more extreme garbage to fit in with the group.

I deeply sympathise. 2 gimpsy baby girls (2 months and 2 1/2 months old) died in France the 26th of December, and the 1st of January... I read a so large amount of racist crap in the "news" forums comments, that I feel really upset, disgusted and angry. It's a shame. People are jerks. And meanwhile, our popular extremist party earns more and more points... I'm afraid of what our politics will look like at the next elections :(
And that reminds me of what I wrote about facebook yesterday... I hate FB ; because behind their screen, people you like (and you thought you knew well) are not afraid to claim how racist and dumb they are... :(

As to your point, Hyper, I think it's because it is our nature, sadly. It's part of what makes us human, the same as our warmongering and aggression. All needed, but sadly often used for the wrong reasons. Maybe it all goes back to cave man days and rivalry between subspecies and tribes.

If it would be anything like The Croods, I wouldn't mind. :-)

How are your parents doing?

They are doing well, thank you. My father is back home resting and recovering well, my mother is still in intensive care, sadly. But at least she is awake more now and not drifting in and out of consciousness. We are hoping that she can leave intensive care by the weekend and go to a regular ward for recovery.

Gah, that sucks. No wonder such things are popping up now, with all the recent media hype about this PEGIDA rubbish. Some people are simply prone to indefinite fears and a general feeling of disadvantage and they feel relieved and more under control, once they "know" who to blame.

Glad to hear things look up for them, here's to things getting much better over the next few days for both of them, and especially for your mother. I know how hard it is to have a parent hospitalised, so best wishes for her recovering and returning home really soon.

I'm much of less the same - still have that running nose and am at the verge of getting sick (nth new for me during winter), though thankfully it hasn't gotten there (yet); I hate being sick. Other than that, I'm not in the best of spirits as I have quite a lot of difficult stuff to deal with.
