LaPtiteBete: Hey, hello Adalia !!
Did you finish to write your novel ?... (I didn't login of all the weekend)... :-\
How long did it take for you to write it, any idea ?... :) will you try to publish it ?...
And... how are you ? :)
avatar
adaliabooks: Hey Owl :)
No, I never finished it. Didn't really put enough thought into it and just lost steam eventually.
Well, looking at the dates on my backups, I think I was writing on and off for about two years. The first year I got 60k words of the original draft done before scrapping it. The second year I wrote about 20k words of actual novel plus 40k of planning, so 120k overall and an average of 60k a year.

And I'm fine, how are you?
... I have to admit I don't realize how much represent 20k, 60k or 120k words ... ! :-D but it sounds like a big work anyway !
I'm fine too, thanks ! a little bit tired, but nothing too serious :)

ddickinson: Also, I love (ironically), how they have now hidden the GOG Downloader links and made them look very unappealing. Nothing like twisting peoples arms to use Galaxy. It seems they are doing everything possible to inconvenience the customer until they are forced to use Galaxy. Not very optional, in my opinion.
Totally agree... :-|

ddickinson: Good morning! *morning hug*

The site seems to be working a little better for me at least, but a shame about the new account.
*returns hug* Good morning.
Yeah not a friend of that new system.....

moonshineshadow: I would wish you all a good day... but I sincerely can't do that at the moment -.-
*hugs and waves*
Hey, lovely Moon !!
A bit puzzled/disappointed/pissed by the changes ?... :-\
**Big crushing hug**...
How are you, otherwise ?...

I'm not sure what you mean (10k is 10,000 if that's what you meant). As to whether it was going to be a long book, I could never quite figure out how it compared or would compare to other novels... but I think it's safe to say it was a fairly long book...

LaPtiteBete: Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend !! :)
Yes, we had a big family event on saturday night (40th birday of an owlet dad's cousin). In an inn... they barbecued a lamb and a sucking pig... and a restful sunday... :) I played some video games, while both owlets were taking a nap (enjoying massively the quietude... lol).
You're right, I guess... wait and see... :-\
No big deal this week at work ; plus, Thursday is a day off, and I don't work either on Friday, as my bigger owlet doesn't go to school... (we all take a long weekend !)... so... only 3 days of work. Awesome ^^
What about you... busy week in sight ?...
**Bigger happier hug**
That's great to hear that you had a wonderful weekend. A three day week sounds nice, I hope you have a very enjoyable long weekend, filled with lots of fun and relaxing things.

I have another long week ahead of me, well another few long weeks. But at least it is not raining heavily today, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I am in a very happy mood still after the weekend.

*even more big happy hugs*

moonshineshadow: Luckily the important part is already done. Had a discussion with my Prof. and he approved of my paper, so I just now submitted it for a conference. Not it means waiting a few weeks to see if the conference accepts it :-)
Since I was expecting gog to annoy me further, I did the important stuff before coming here ;-)

Also, I sent you a "chat" for testing, did you get a notification about that?
That's great news, I knew you would do well. *big congratulations hug*

Do you have a nice relaxing day planned at work now that is out of the way?

I did receive your message, and all three notifications. Not sure why three, but maybe I had three PMs that are due to appear soon.

Also, I must ask a question abut the no-friends club. I intent to accept people I know as friends, as I feel it would be rude not to, and I can see some features eventually becoming friend only. So I will add them, but I will not really be using any of the friend features. Can I still be in the no-friends club, or does this mean I have to leave the club, even though I am just adding them out of politeness?

ElTerprise: Moin everyone *big hugs and waves*

How are you all doing?

I see they implemented the new account system....well all the PM conversations are gone...fantastic....-.-
Hey ElT, how are you doing ? :)
**Big hug**
Hopefully the PM will be back (?) soon (?)... I don't know how, yet... it has to be practical... the chat is not practical at all so far (to my opinion) ... the display... and we can't even choose to appear online or not... ! :-| **sigh**

I am disappointed by gog. The changes suck and I really hate how they are trying to sell it to us as something good, that has been done because of the users here wanting it and that it is all for the best. When in reality they are just forcing the galaxy client look on us.

You got three notifications because I sent three messages -.- Sorry about that. I wanted to sent you some hugs in the first message and pressed "Enter" to write that in a new line... but guess what? Pressing "Enter" sents the message. So in the end I sent you three messages.

Hey. *returns hug* I'm good how are you?
Moon posted that they're working on it ...but the changes suck....Chat's impractical...the new library disappointing...and you're forced towards Galaxy...

ElTerprise: *returns hug* Good morning.
Yeah not a friend of that new system.....
But we had better get used to it. It's not like GOG cares what the older customers like, they are aiming for lots of new Steam customers coming here. Which I can't fault from a business point of view, but it does seem a little sad.

I noticed that myself when I sent the reply, that enter sends the message (very silly design feature, IMO).

So, am I allowed to add friends and still be in the no-friends club if I promise that I am only doing it out of politeness and not because I am keen on the whole friend system? :-)

Well the did say the client is "optional", they did not say that they would make the site as inaccessible as possible to force you into using it. Although I think they did say that Galaxy would not intrude upon the site and that those who did not want it would not really be inconvenienced. I see that one worked out well. :-)

Sure go on, that is your decision. But how can you be in a zero friends club if your friend list has people on it? That does not make sense :P
avatar
ddickinson: It's the aesthetics and the navigation that are annoying me, so much is not hidden under drop menus, instead of nice convenient buttons as they where before. Not to mention the Galaxy central design of it all.

Glad to hear things are going okay with you, and that you are enjoying Icewind 2, or at least I hope you are enjoying it, after putting so much effort into it?

I am great, thank you. My weekend did me the world of good. I am sure as the long week goes on this will change, but then I have the weekend to look forwards to again, so the cycle keeps repeating itself. :-)
That's understandable, the new look is extremely basic at the moment. Think I saw them mention something about setting up different themes to make it look nicer.
Doesn't particularly bother me, since the pile is a combined reminder of people's kindness and my own straight-up insanity when it comes to acquiring more items, which I can no longer even begin to bullshit myself over, given 17 godsdamned pages of orders, most of them done within the last 18 months.

Waiting for the dust to settle on the entire setup, really. GOG has a small crew and they're trying to build something that the competition, who has a hell of a lot more money and people, are still updating all the time.

I'm happy to hear you're feeling recharged. Fingers continue to be crossed that your extremely heavy workload will be reduced to a more reasonable level in the very near future.

Yeah seems so. But i fear it destroys the community we had here and i don't want to have a Steam forum copy here....

Yeah that really annoys me...and as you mentioned earlier....the page for GOGdownloader is buried somewhere and looks hideous...

Because the other member of the club is so cool, and I don't want to miss out on her company :-). But I understand if I am not allowed to still be a member :-(.

Some of the people adding me I consider good friends, and I would feel rude to refuse their invite. It does me no harm as I do not really intend to use it, and I will only be adding people I know, not collecting friends just for the sake of it. I think it will have to be limited to people I have actually spoken to.

Also, I just sent a reply to your last chat message, and it dissipated. So it looks like the chat is no more reliable than the PM system was, but at least we could send long formatted messages with the PM system.

We can still do that, I just sent you a message explaining how to make a line break ;-)
